Manchester United Thread

I think United will culture Robben into a Centre Forward, much like Juventus did with David Trezeguet and Arsenal did with Theirry Henry. Both of whom were wingers at one point of course.

I see United lining up like this:

Howard; Neville, Ferdinand, Silvestre, O'Shea; Ronaldo, Keane, Scholes, Giggs; Robben, Van Nistelrooy.

I think that kind of depends on which central defender they purchase, as I think it's pretty much a lock that they are bringing one in this month.

hehehe, what else can i say

saaaaay, loz that wouldnt be YOU there playing darts now would it? :D

Come on United! antoher come-back from being a goal down, is all good!

I mean, we could have had an easier tie playing someone like Yeovil . . . .

one thing i realise is, man u struggle without van nistelrooy and keane.

maybe what keane said was right. too dependent on van nistelrooy (eventhough he didn't score against villa, his impact was felt all around).

"Voor € 7,5 miljoen krijgen ze een shirt met zijn handtekening erop", liet Van Raaij fijntjes weten.

Translation:
"For €7.500.000 they can get a shirt with his signature on it" - Harry van Raaij, Chairman PSV Eindhoven

Hehe, I like him.

Wasnt the greatest game yesterday. Dont know why Fergie didnt just start his strongest side and took a few off once we had it in the bag,

Two good goals from Scholesy though he's class, the 2nd especially, he started the move then finished it.

The Robben deal still isnt done, the players father is happy with him coming to United but it will be in the summer not this month, also reports of him being used as a striker are off the mark, he's gonna replace Giggsy on the left.

Robben’s father, who is also his agent, has said that a move
in the summer is the more likely outcome:

"Arjen is very interested in joining Manchester United, but I don't think it will happen in January because Arjen is definite he wants to play this season for PSV," said Hans Robben.

Meanwhile Robben’s mother, Marjo, has ruled out the possibility of a move to Real Madrid:

“The things he thinks about when he has to make the final decision on his new club is who is the manager, how does he work with the players, will he have a chance to compete with the current players in the squad and what is the club culture like.

“Those things mean more to my son than any kind of money. Look at Real Madrid. What would be the point of signing for them? He would arrive in a squad full of big names and big stars, where the president swaps his top names every summer like second hand cars. Every year he brings in more and more big name players. That does not appeal to us.”

Sounds like the lad has got good people behind him..

At last..........

Ole's back!!!

from his own webpage.

"I'm all set to play in United's reserve match againstBirmingham on January 15. I can't wait to get back into the game,"

we cant wait either Ole but im sure a few defenders can...

We all know Beckham is United thru and thru, a few supporters seem to have forgotten this, but he's one of us for life:

Club insider says....

‘Gary Neville speaks on the phone 5 times a week with Becks who generally rings before and after matches and is keen to learn about the goings on at his old club. Gaz says he has been to watch Becks play for Madrid and hopes to make another trip to watch another match before the end of the season.’

You can take a lad out of Manchester but you cant take the Manc out of him :)

It was thought that we we're gonna be losing our star of the season due to World Cup qualifiers but not so, seems not all Fa's are c*nts...

Tim Howard Will be available to Manchester United for the rest of the season after FIFA shuffled its World Cup qualifying dates.

The Reds had initially feared they would be without the American keeper, described as the Reds' "player of the year" by both manager Sir Alex Ferguson and defender Gary Neville, for as many as seven matches.

He was due to jet off across the Atlantic for matches on January 17 and 21, February 18 and March 31 - until FIFA changed the qualifying procedure, meaning that the USA now don't begin its qualifying process until June.

The original plan would have meant Howard missing a league game against Wolves, and possibly those against Leeds, Arsenal and Charlton, as well as any third round FA Cup replay against Aston Villa, and FA Cup fourth and fifth round games, should the Reds progress.

Its amazing just how quickly he's fit in over here, he's a really quiet bloke and like alot of yanks he's pretty religous so he keeps out of the papers. He's settled down and is really enjoying his time over here, dont get me wrong he's still got to face life after a bad game or some silly mistakes but he's settled alot quicker than The Great Dane and he could be with us for 10years so there's alot of time yet before we can judge him but you cant deny him his due for the season so far, yes he gets protected well behind last season and this seasons best defense, but IMO that makes it harder for a keeper cos you have to wait for long periods of the match with nothing to do, then jump into action, which is where Barthez came unstuck.

Yeah, some good points there, Vann. The OLE return, I can`t wait. He does the job on the right, and up-front, as we all know. His crossing is sublime at times, too. As for Howard, I said when we signed him, he has got the potential to be the next big keeper at Old Trafford - he keeps his head down, like Scholes and co. but always does the job, he is SO agile, shouts at the back four (which we missed with Barthez) and makes world-class saves. He is still young, more to come I hope . . . .

The FA Cup draw in 10 minutes, I hope we draw Swansea City away (its where I work at the moment) who would you like to see drawn? Bet we get a Premiership draw, we always do . . . No Yeovils for us! ;)

Howard kept us in the game with his saves yesterday, even for the goal he was quick to react.

Im not arsed who we get, my years of getting excited for the FA cup died a few seasons back, aslong as we dont get knocked out in the 1st round im not arsed after my last visit to cardiff I wont be going again, it's not a patch on the excitement of going to Wembley.

Let the goons have it, we've won it more than anyone else so lets not be greedy ey...

Yeah, its the same for me, the draw is always more interesting than the actual cup - its just an English tradition (which is dying) and good for the small clubs.

Yeah its great for the smaller clubs to get some good revenue but personally im not arsed, if we we're to do well, great, if we dont fuck it.

Fergie will play his kids for that tie, which is good for us! Save the 1st team for the Championship and C.League . . .

L`pool drawing Newcastle - Goodbye Scousers!

Nah Fergie will play the strongest team available cos he wont be direspectful to the clubs as they will no doubt have a full house and it'd be good for either clubs finances.

Yeah, since the year you lot didn't play and got lots of stick Fergie always wants a strong team out.

yea it would be quite the match if we put out our first team against either rotherdam or northampton, look at the scousers' results against yeovil, now we aint as bad against lower clubs, but we should be careful... you can always sub off players
