Manchester United Thread

If there is one man you can count on to tell it like it is, its our Keano, a true character in football, rather than spit out constant cliches he doesnt pull punches, even the situation with the Ireland sqaud, the fact that things have changed so much and the set-up is tons more proffesional because he took a stand has benifited Eire and United.

Take heed kids, telling the truth pays off.........

Keano: "I've got a hang-up about is players who've only played 20 or 30 games and they're appearing in OK! magazine and doing adverts."

"I see these players all the time and there's enough of them around.

"They're all making a good living but I don't want to go down that road. There's a lot of bullshit around footballers. Hopefully I won't get involved in that. I've done one or two adverts and stuff in my career and I'm okay with that when players have proved themselves.

"But what I've got a hang-up about is players who've only played 20 or 30 games and they're appearing in OK! magazine and doing adverts.

"I think 'You've not really done anything in football'. I feel that if they really believe they're going to be top players, the other stuff will fall into place.

"I look at some players who've had a few victories and they're bragging about it . These people generally come unstuck.

"We've had a few at United who've dwelled on success too long, but you have to move on very quickly."

Class!!

Harry Kewell anyone?

and the fact that everyone - or at least the ones who know no better - keep praising him and all, now its not to say kewell isnt a good footballer, its just, well... consider what it is that you're saying about him first eh

Who remembers the FA Cup tie against Villa at Villa Park a few seasons back? 2-0 down, then . . . . Ruud boy.

Haha, nice bit of Irony there. After realising you'd mistaken Balla for Zico, Vann and Ninja went on to call Balla Bella for a couple of posts.
Amused me anyway........

That was a classic. Wasn't it super Phil Neville scoring an OG to put us 2-0 down as well?

Its kinda weird cos its pretty much two years to the day that we played Villa in the same round.

What a game that was, I've always liked going to Villa cos we've enjoyed some good times and it was our first time back in the cup since the famous arsenal game on the way to The Treble.

Villa went 2-0 up and we played awful, it was Ruuds 1st season and Fergie left him on the bench, it looked like the game was beyond us, he brought Chadwick on then subbed him after a couple of howlers (think that ended his career at United)

Ruud came on and scored two fantastic goals and bamm I was on the pitch like a loon haha

Anyway hope sundays is as good...

yea, weve already had a 3-0 result in the league right? soo this shouldnt be that much of a problem, and secondly, NINJA YOU CALLED ME BELLA! YOU TOO VANN!;)

-azn

Sorry Bella! I mean Balla! You Italian?

Vann:I watched the Villa game that day on BBC 1, I saw the loons jumping on the pitch! Funny you was one of `em!

Manchester United are in talks with PSV Eindhoven over youngster Arjen Robben.
The teenager was given a tour of Old Trafford yesterday after meeting with United boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Independent says the 19-year-old left-sided striker discussed the possibility of signing for Manchester United at the club's Carrington training base. Old Trafford officials were considering closing a quick deal for £5m.

Robben arrived to look round Old Trafford in the morning and then had a meeting with the United manager along with a PSV official and the player's advisers.

if ya lot pull this off,it will be very good buisness as robben's class.here's to hopin he rejects ya lot for us...

United getting Robben, if he can improve on his already great abilities, would be great business for them. Better then Ronaldo's buy, methinks, although it's probably too early too tell.

is he really that good? ive never seen him play, and since kezman isnt moving, robben would do the job. i believe getting at younger players - as opposed to older and experienced like southgate - would be a better long term deal (who knows, we might just have the next RVN in our hands)

Robben’s in the nest
Manchester United flew in PSV Eindhoven's young superstar Arjen Robben for talks yesterday and are offering him a dream £8million contract. The 19-year-old left-sided striker met Sir Alex Ferguson at the club's Carrington training HQ during the afternoon as the Old Trafford giants look to close a quick £5m transfer deal. Ferguson rolled out the red carpet for Robben, introducing him to players and potential team-mates like Ruud van Nistelrooy and skipper Roy Keane. And the money men will also put Robben on a huge deal, worth around £30,000 a week for the next five years - putting him in line with his status as one of the best players his country has produced.

I believe we've got our man?!!
