Not really a DM, more like a CMF.

Yeah i agree with that. More like Keane of a few years ago than Makele. but further back than scholsey (at least for germany, i can't recall Bayern's formation)

Anyway, until united show some balls and get him, I'm scared to talk about it anymore ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

hahhaha, beachryan, i agree with u...what we say is just useless, well, at least until SAF actually goes and buys Ballack....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Manutd.com has a 'preview' of the new kit...looks like it will just be the Nike kit in blue and red, like the fake one that was up a few weeks ago. I still like black/white away kits, but I guess blue is alright.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

you beat me to it beachryan...haha,I guess we'll look like rangers while playing away games now,IF worn with white shorts and black socks, hahaha. Its just an OK kit...have u seen the Away Kit Gallery, some really classic away kits we had.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I think it looks great, its not purple, like it looks in that picture, it is blue.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I think we'll get used to it.
But its still too hard to imagine us playing in that kit.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Howard looks like a girl in the green.
Maybe its just me but it looks girly.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Is it me or does any else think that Howard's short dosent match his kit?? It'll be much better in black or the same green as the kit.Our new away kit is definitely blue but I wish it was in a darker tone.We should have a third kit coming along soon.It it dosent comes, they should retain either our current black or white kit to be the third.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

NOt sure if this is known but Sir Alex said on MUTV that Van Der Sar will wear the no 1 shirt.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Some great quotes from your players today setting themselves up for a huge fall.

Alan Smith has told the sun you will win the league and he will be back in sunsport in May saying I told you so!

Gary Neville predicts you will go the whole season unbeaten!!!!!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

The last person to say that looked like a right prick and that was Wenger. Why are footballers so thick?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Essien now states that he dont intend to stay at Lyon and wants to get out as soon as possible...not to us though, yes you've guessed it right...to phuckin Chelski.

United ruffled as Mikel is lured by Chelsea's riches
By Oliver Kay

MANCHESTER UNITED are all but resigned to losing out to Chelsea in the battle to sign John Obi Mikel, the prodigious Nigerian teenager at the centre of one of the most vicious transfer wrangles in football history. Sir Alex Ferguson celebrated a coup in April when he announced that he had signed the 18-year-old in a deal thought to be worth more than £4 million, but with the matter under investigation by Fifa, football’s world governing body, it seems that he will have to suffer the indignity of submitting to Chelsea once more.

United have given evidence to Fifa to assist in its investigation into the matter, but while they maintain that they have done nothing wrong in pursuit of the youngster, there is a growing acceptance at Old Trafford that Mikel has been seduced by the riches offered by Chelsea. Although United deny bitterly his claims that he was forced to sign for them against his wishes — and, furthermore, are angry that he has been poisoned against them by John Shittu, his Nigerian agent — they believe that there is little they can do to prevent Mikel joining Chelsea.

Fifa indicated last night that it will not make any decision on Mikel’s future until it has received advice from its legal department, but it seems increasingly certain that he is heading for Stamford Bridge. The youngster may have to give evidence as part of the investigation and with United aware that he is likely to state his preference for joining Chelsea, Fifa is unlikely to force him to move to Old Trafford against his wishes.

For the past two months, United have contested Shittu’s claims that their agreement with Mikel and his Norwegian club, Lyn Oslo, was reached by illegal means. They maintain that their conduct has been impeccable and that it is the behaviour of Shittu, with whom Chelsea have negotiated, that warrants investigation. Their belief is that things changed between Mikel “signing” for United, saying it was “totally fantastic” to do so, and his subsequent disappearance in Oslo, when, after a police investigation, he was found with Shittu in a nearby wood and later turned up in London, professing his desire to join Chelsea.

United also have the backing of Lyn, with whom they have signed a contract, but the Norwegian club’s conduct in negotiations — and particularly that of Morgan Andersen, their sporting director — has been questioned by Shittu, who yesterday offered to tell all in a public debate on Norwegian television.

“So far it has just been a soap opera, but we will now see the big movie. It should be on Norwegian television to let everyone see the truth,” he said, casting doubt on Andersen’s version of events. “We will reveal everything.”

Meanwhile, United supporters have been urged to boycott the club’s Champions League third qualifying-round tie next month in protest at the recent takeover by Malcolm Glazer, the American sports tycoon. A coalition of groups fighting Glazer says that the proposed boycott will show the determination of supporters to prevent his aggressive business plan succeeding.

“Some have already given up their tickets for the new season as they don’t want to pay a penny to Glazer,” Mark Longden, the chairman of the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association, said yesterday. “Some others felt that they could not give up their ticket — and that is their right — but this boycott is the chance for them to show Glazer they do not want him or his debts.”

If a united front is required off the pitch, it is no less paramount on the pitch, according to Gary Neville. “This is the biggest test we’ve had for a long time,” the England defender said yesterday. “It’s the first time as a squad we have gone two seasons without winning the championship. We have to win trophies. We won the FA Cup in 2004, but we know what it’s all about. European Cups and league championships are the main thing.”

That's right although I wasn't saying Wenger was thick as he has half a brain.

Until Ferguson gives the lower teams a bit more respect by playing a full strength team each week Utd will never go a season unbeaten. I actually don't see anyone doing it again not even us!

Which is why I said eventually.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Mikel, Essien, Chelsea 2 - 0 United. Well I guess its good we don't really need a strong DMF/CMF. Oh wait. We do. Maybe that's how Chelsea will maintain there title over United: keep buying midfielders until there are none left ;)

I hope Mikel enjoys his time in London, its clear he has great loyalty to a club, and I'm sure he'll thrive in the Chelsea organisation. From the bench. With banknotes lining his blue short pockets.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

hahahahaha...i dunno....still not sure what will happen......but i don't get why there were reports saying that he wants to come to Man Utd....then now he wants to goto Chelsea.....

guess that it's Ballack for us then...unless Chelsea wants to pay and buy Ballack away from us as well...lolz

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I think Ballack would be better anyway. He'll have more of an immediate impact on the team and is more capable of scoring goals than Essien.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

and with his experience....it will be good...if we get ballack...it gives us some time to maybe let miller/spector and co get more experience and can play first team once he's back!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Guys, stop all this talk of Ballack, lets not get all excited for nothing. On a side note,Smithy and Gaz Neville added unnecessary pressure to ourselves by trash talking even before the season starts. It may come good to us hopefully but if it dont,oh my,oh my.For starters I cant remember Chelski boasting before the start of last season about running away with the title...they just did.Its better to let the results and the football do the talking instead of walking the talking.Na' Mean?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

phrase i agree...sometimes, Man Utd just say too much...i really do hope that it can motivate some ppl, but if it doesn't...then...what's the use?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Yeah, but its nice to see some confidance and team spirit. I don't think it'll do any harm. I'm sure we'll have a better season than last year. If you look at games like the FA Cup, we can't have that kind of luck two years running. Plus, I don't hink Chelsea can continue to carry their form. One thing is for sure though, United need to stay healthy and take every game seriously. Instead of thinking a game against a lower team is a vacation, think how many goals they can score. Maybe Ruud and Rooney should have a running bet ;)

As for Ballack, well there was never anything really linking us to him, other than SAF said he liked him ages ago, and he said he'd switch to the premiership, maybe. But D. Gill definitely made it sound as if we're after someone else. I had previously assumed that was Essien, but I guess not. My question is, season starts a month tomorrow, and we have friendlies in a little over 10 days. How long are we going to wait for that third signing? Surely its currently in the works?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Just today, Smith said that Man Utd means more to him this season that trying to get a place in the England team for the World Cup.
Now thats loyalty and dedication.
