Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

The thing with J.Baptista is that, hes actually a central midfielder converted into a striker which IMHO is definitely his best position so far.We could use his strength, speed and eye for goals here at united, plus he can slot into our midfield easily too if anyone gets injured. Now that we wont have Owen, hes our best choice.

Why are you ruling out Owen? I still have hope. I'm thinking Glazer must have been impressed by Owen when he played for England in the US so he'd probably like to sign him.

Nah dont rule out Owen coming to OT, Madrid and United have a very good relationship and dont want the transfer to be done in the media, obviously they have to wait and see whats happening with Robhino and likewise we have to see whats happening with Saha.

Also the funds we are using are only gonna be available from next month, the takeover has meant that alot of the clubs dealings have had to take a back seat.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Your post makes perfect sense.
Hopefully, we'll load Saha cuz he has potential IMO but Glazer needs the cash so he'll probably be sold.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Saw on the news that Glazers sons have arrived in London this morining so as Vann says i would expect things to start ticking along now for you!

I rate Saha as a player and he's a decent fella aswell but if I had the choice I'd take Owen.

Its not so much the cash its the wages and we'd have way too many strikers.

Theres alot going on and we've not finished on the transfer side but I dont wanna post them up till my contact gets back from portugal.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

here's my predictions:
Saha will be loaned to a French league....
Owen...i doubt he will come...even though Glazer is a fan of Owen and would love to see the English International in a Man Utd Jersey...
Ruud...i say he stays put at least for this season...but...even though his moves are very predictable in the EPL, his future ain't...at first he said that he will hang his boots at OT, then he changed to hang his boots at PSV after he finishes his contract with Man Utd and is about to retire....but then...now i think that he might have chance to goto another club (but not this summer for sure)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Apparently the meeting one of the Glazier sons had with the FA went really well, the FA explained to them the responsiblity they have taken on with United being the biggest football in the country etc. Also the TV deal was discussed and basically the Glazier fam and the FA are singing from the same page with scraps alot of the doubts/fears that they we're gonna usher us into some European SuperLeague.

Hah...I intentionally watched that game to see how he is...what all the people are raving about.I am still standing by what I've said.Nothing special.Dont get me wrong though, when I say nothing special,it doesnt mean hes lousy or anything.I mean,in his country's kit,he should be putting it out more...hes more like a passenger playing for his country. He should be more like his captain,Isaac Promise, true grit in a player. To be honest,he dosent have that quality that makes people say "ouh yeah,he must play for my team, definitely." He's ordinary now but I hope he'll get better with time and more experience.Until then maybe, just maybe...I'll open up my eyes a bit more then to see what kind of boots he wears.

Good response. It does seem like he's holding himselve in. Maybe this is an intentional tactic by the trainer. Nigeria has enough good dribblers so they use Mikel for the neccesary balance and calm, one who does not outrun himselve so he can be sharp for the whole 90 minutes. Two flies at once cause that way Mikel can stay out of the picture a little, he allready has a big signing so this way the other kids get a better chance and he can cool off a bit from all the media fuzz around him.

Im curious how he will perform in the finale vs Argentina. I will watch him more closely then. Maybe i will crawl back too, but for now i still think he really has that extra wich makes him worthy for Man U or any other top club. despite his somewhat lacklusterish attitude to the eye, he does show up everywhere on the pitch, i think he well knows how to dominate a midfield, defensive and offensive.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Its great to see the boys back in training.I can feel the buzz starting all over again now, weekends without The Premiership is killing me! VDS is huge,he's the tallest GK in the league if I'm not mistaken. Its also nice to see Ronnie runnin beside Keano, the latter might give him some valuable advice or two.

'Owen not for sale' - Real Madrid

Michael Owen
Man Utd dismiss Owen talk
Real Madrid have moved to end rumours about the future of Michael Owen by insisting the striker is not for sale.

The 25-year-old, who has had limited Bernabeu starts, has been linked with Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United.

But Real director of football Arrigo Sacchi told the Daily Star: "Owen is not for sale because he is part of our coach Wanderley Luxemburgo's plans.

"Some things written about who is coming to and leaving Real are almost as incredible as science fiction."

Sacchi said that Owen remained content in Madrid.

Chelsea have not been in touch with us to make an offer for Owen
Arrigo Sacchi

"Owen has not told us he is unhappy or that he wants to leave and that is what really matters to us, not what stories appear in the press.

"He has signed a contract and he is a very professional player.

"Since I have been at Madrid I have never heard him complain - not even when he was not in the first team and, like all players, wanted to play more minutes."

And Sacchi denied that Chelsea had been pursuing Owen or any of their players.

"Chelsea have not been in touch with us to make an offer for him, or in recent times for any of our players."

Now i think the hopes of signing him are gone, why do you guys need a striker though? Smith Rooney and Van are good enough, with saha :). Also, this season you guys have been pretty unlucky, its not that you create chances but dont score, its that you create chances but get unlucky, United should have won the FA CUP, they even hit the woodwork on several occasions, its just luck, i think the strikers you guys have are fine.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Do you really believe nything Real say ?

And Saha might be carted off on loan so we will need a goal scorer.

More on the FA's meeting with the Glazer boys...

'THE FA have given Manchester United’s new owners a stark warning: “Don’t mess around with our crown jewels.”
The Glazer family flew to London on Monday for secret meetings with the FA, Premier League, Government and United chief executive David Gill.

Malcolm Glazer’s sons Joel, Avi and Bryan were told by FA chief executive Brian Barwick: “You must understand United is the jewel in the crown, part of the fabric of football history.

“It has a special place in football, not only in England but the world.”

The three Glazer brothers yesterday held talks with club sponsors before heading north to take their first steps on the pitch at Old Trafford — the stadium they now own following their father Malcolm’s successful £790million takeover.

Angry supporters were immediately alerted and last night barricaded Sir Matt Busby Way to stop the Glazers leaving.

A group of around 200 gathered and United officials were forced to erect security barriers to block off the directors’ entrance to the ground.

The Glazers eventually left under police escort but Mark Longden, chairman of the Independent Manchester United Supporters’ Association, was outraged the brothers had addressed the ‘suits’ first while fans are still to hear anything.

Longden said: “We want to confront them. They have spoken to everybody since their arrival apart from the most important people — the fans.

“We are blocking all the exits in an attempt to force the Glazers to face us. This is a peaceful protest but we intend to get our message heard.'

Kinda pathetic really they own the club now!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

And you call yourselves fans, nothing but a bunch of ungratefull bastards.

What is the problem?..do you think he is going to spend 790 million pound on a club only to fuck it up?..I dont understand it, look at Chelsea, they got players, and they won the league.

If someone took over a club I supported I would be over the moon, more money = more success, something these so called "fans" dont want for SOME reason.

Only thing I heard that Glazer will do bad is up the ticket prices, which is understandable considering he spent £790 million on the club ffs, obviously he wants his money back.

People just want attention, what do you want Glazer to say to the fans?..what CAN he say?..that he is going to help the club to success, something anyone with half a brain would already realise by now.

Look at this guy also, he is talking about being a Chelsea fan when someone just talked about the strikers, what the fuck?..

Bloody disgrace reading this forum, if I was Glazer I would tell these "fans" to piss off, football doesnt need twats like this.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

People need to think with their head instead of their gob, do they honestly think someone is going to spend 790 million on a club just to fuck it up?..doubt it.

Blocking the exits?..what next, put a wooden plank over his door so he cant get out?..its a joke, this is just hooligan behaviour.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

You said this after Sulph spoke about Saha etc, aint sure if it was a joke or what, but its lame.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Now that Glazer owns the club, why dont the fans just support him? Right now, Glazer needs money and he's gonna get that from the fans so if the fans dont support him, its the fans that are killing the club.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Fergie on Ronnie.

"He will sign the new deal tomorrow. He is a fantastic player. Cristiano Ronaldo is the future of Manchester United, with Wayne Rooney, Darren Fletcher and John O'Shea. I do not know if he will stay as many years as Ryan Giggs but I know that he will give us a lot of joy."

No wonder Glazer upped the ticket prices with fans like you lot, bloody disgrace to the club, just stop moaning over something which doesnt concern you, if you aint happy with his decisions piss off to another club.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

That takes a load of our minds then. So if he's extending his contract, he'll stay past 2008 where his current contract ends.
Unless he's just being greedy and only asking for a pay rise.
