Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Andrade could be useful, hes a no nonsense defender whom broke Rooneys foot! Hahaha...hes not necessary thou, our defence department is pretty well covered plus we have yet to unleash Pique and Spector.I personally hate our supposedly new away kit,red and blue is just horrible...bring back the old, darker blue with black and white designs.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I'd like a black one with the same design as that blue kit but have the red bit white.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

From Sportcentre's interview,Park speaks good english,he seems shy though,hahaha...anyways there should be little or no problems in settling in then.He said hes lookin forward to be playing with everybody in the team before names like,Ruud,Rooney,Ferdinand & Giggs popped up.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I was worrying he couldnt speak english. Luckily he can.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I just saw Nigeria vs Holland,Youth World Cup.Now,I dont know where all the crap-talk is comin from about John Obi Mikel's ability. He seems ordinary to say the least. Not a fancy player by any means.Simple player, plays in center midfield, takes corners, quite tall and well buitl for his age(1.85m?) and wears adidas's dragon pulses.Thats it.Ouh,one more thing, that lad who plays for arsenal,Quicy Obuwuse-Abieyi...now,that kid is a bit special, one to watch for in the future, for united's defenders, heh.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

yeah,i saw him play too... nothing special... just sits in midfield. but i must say, he is good for his age. he has the vision, but i did not see him make a tackle at all.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

I'm just a bit worried that we wont sign another player this summer. For some reason we're distancing ourselves from all the speculation about all those big signings that they should have made.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

So far we have made 3 signings in Van Der Sar,Park and Obi Mikel(?).A keeper and two midfielders subject to change with Obi Mikel. We still need another central midfielder and possibly a striker.Owen is realistically out of the picture now and we're back at square one.Chelsea and Arsenal have launched big bids on Shevchenko and Robinho respectively which i find impressive comparing to our very own Carlos Queiroz pouring cold water over hot speculation about Owen,Figo and Casillas.Darn.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Shevchenko turned down :D. THeyre after Trezeguet now, which I think United can easily go after aswell since hes out of favour.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Realistically, Sheva aint gonna leave Milan. He's smart enough to know that he's at arguably the best team in the world so any move for him isnt gonna be an improvement for his career.
Trezeguet isnt a Man Utd player IMO. He just doesnt have that something special to play for our club.
Figo is old and isnt the type of player we need cuz we just got Park.
Casillas is pointless now cuz we have VDS.
So Owen is the only way to go cuz even though we have 5 strikers already at our club, he's still better than Saha, Smith and Solskjaer. Solskjaer will retire soon, Smith IMO is only gonna get games if he plays in midfield and Saha could easily be loaned out or even sold to many Premiership teams who need someone like him.

Mikel got Maduro totally out of the game. thats special. and its true he plays like an adult(calm, vision, balance etc.), thats special too.

he might not be like quincy wich people are so hyped about, but he's 10 times more important for a team. but watch him perform the whole next year, maybe that will open your eyes to a bit more then what kind of boots he wears.

Hah...I intentionally watched that game to see how he is...what all the people are raving about.I am still standing by what I've said.Nothing special.Dont get me wrong though, when I say nothing special,it doesnt mean hes lousy or anything.I mean,in his country's kit,he should be putting it out more...hes more like a passenger playing for his country. He should be more like his captain,Isaac Promise, true grit in a player. To be honest,he dosent have that quality that makes people say "ouh yeah,he must play for my team, definitely." He's ordinary now but I hope he'll get better with time and more experience.Until then maybe, just maybe...I'll open up my eyes a bit more then to see what kind of boots he wears.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Fair enough if you dont think he's "all that" but the type of qualities he has, you dont see in a young 18 year old. If you look at all the young stars of today, they all have something in common which is that they all have flair, can take on defenders and score lots of goals. Its very common with young players and its the kind of thing that makes us think "WOW. He has blistering pace and can dazzle a whole defence so he must be a good player."
But if you look at the characteristics that PESV mentioned (calm, vision, balance etc), you cant get that from young players. Thats something that can only be gained from experience over time. Even players like Keane and Vieira developed those when they got much older. But John Obi Mikel already has these skills which IMO, is amazing for a kid of his age. I mean, Roy Keane only became the Roy Keane we all know later in his career but imagine if he was as good as he is but at 18?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Looking through the gossip...anyone else tired of hearing every year around this time how unhappy Ruud is, and how he really wants to move to Spain? Hopefully yet another in the long line of rumours. I wonder if the Sun have that article saved, and then every few months just load it up and print it.

Didn't Ruud say fairly recently how happy he is at United?
My theory on his bad season: He got married last summer :)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

hahaha, usually, happy nights can lead to bad games, thus, the olympic dorms are all one sex only...hahaha...yet, i really don't understand why these rumours are always here, or is it because the spanish giants want Ruud and make them up to start talks?? hahahaha

well, i'm happy (being Asian) that Park Ji Sun is now at Utd, hope that he can help Keane and Scholes up in the midfield and really do his worth as he says!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Intresting what Hiddink said about Park i wouldnt have him down as a bitter manager! but his comments on parks futre at OT were tough!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Yeah. He seems to be a very energetic and hard working like Heinze which is always a good thing for the team.
I'd always prefer a player like that over a much more talented but inconsistant player.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Before getting any more transfers, I would really like to see Ronnie and Rio sign their respective contracts. If either of them leave, it would be much worse than not getting some new player. Hopefully the sun and the daily mirror are just being themselves - completely unreliable...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

But it doesnt help when you take this long. Especially with the Glazer thing going on. And I dont see why Ronaldo would suddenly leave. His contract lasts till 2008.

You never know as you guys are only gonna go after him as NO ONE wants 2 move to ya bar del Horno!

We should buy him as Ruud wants 2 leave!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Apparently Ruud is linked with Milan now. I dont want him, because I feel we have Sheva for his role.

Now milan huh...I dont think Ruud will leave, all this talk of him leaving is just pure speculation. If he is true to his word,he will honor his contract and leave when it ends to go back to PSV where he will end his career. The thing about Ruud's play is,he is too predictable, defenders in the EPL especially, now have learned how to play against him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread - Owen wants move!

Essien has just recently said that he has decided to stay at Lyon so he isnt moving anywhere. And as for "The Beast", do we want someone like him? ANd I wouldnt really say he has forced his way into the Brazil team cuz they already have Ronaldo, Adriano and Robinho.
