Manchester United Thread

Honestly i dont really blame the players. We have some of the best players in Europe but if they arent used right(Rooney on wing) or not being given a decent run of games with all the chopping and changing they wont perform consistently.
Back in '99 we had virtually the same team playing every week in every major competition and the result is there for everyone to see.

I completely agree, a consistent team is necessary, but then the question becomes: what do we do with Keano and Scholes? Neither of them are fit enough to play game in game out. I think that's a big part of hte problem.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Keane might not be but i didnt know Scholes has any serious fitness problems? Keane is the one player who might need a rest from time to time but atleast its better than 5 players every other game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Gary Neville was on a show today on MUTV where people can phone in to ask him questions. One guy asked what he thinks is the main reason for this seasons failure and he said that its all about not finishing in front of goal. He said that its unfair to criticise the tactics cuz if you remember, we won some great games like the 2 games against Arsenal with a 4-3-3 formation. People werent complaining then cuz we got the job done. But when we lose, fans are looking to point the finger on someone and sadly its the tactics and the manager.
In the game against West Brom, we had 27 shots at goal and only one went in. What part of that stat suggests that we were wrong to use 4-3-3? If the formation wasnt right, we wouldnt have had that many shots at goal. But the fact that the finishing was poor, we didnt score enough goals. We could use 4-4-2, 4-5-1, 4-3-3, 4-4-1-1, or any other formation and we'd still deserve to lose if we had failed to score after 27 attempts.

To be fair. Gary has a good point.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

well RuneEdge, I think the formation is really wrong cause it doens't take full advantage of players abilities. and Rooney on the left doesn't help, and you can't put a player like RvN on the bench on a 4.3.3 formation. Of course every once in a while it's a very plausible formation, cause a front with Ronaldo, Giggs and RvN would do damage.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Gary "Spokesman" Neville has made a very valid point there in his interview. Its not about wrong tactics i guess, its about playing players at the wrong position and the inability to finish infront of goal is our main problem this season, injuries to our main strikers didnt help either, remember,we only had Smith fit for the start of our season.Well, look on the brightside,we can always build on that once our players get comfortable.Ouh yah..Neville's days as our RB is numbered...hahaha.

Thats exactly whats wrong with us. Theres nothing wrong with 4-3-3 unless we have someone like Rooney or Fortune playing on the wing.
Whats frustrating is watching our shots roll past the post on the wrong side or when wehit the wood work.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Dont you think that although yes you created x amount of chances using that formation but is the quality of the chance the same!?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Glazier in with offcial 790m bid! hes bought out magnier and mcmanus's shares! Wow!!

Its a sad day....

As with Wimbledon and the MK dons, provisions have been put in place for a breakaway team....

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

He hasnt taken over the club yet. But its VERY likely now.
He needs another 18% of shares which I think is mainly owned by the fans. Unless of course he makes an offer to the board and they agree it which means that the club would have been sold before Glazer bought Cubic Expression's shares.

But this is shocking. This good turn out to be good OR bad.
Either way, something BIG is gonna happen now.

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

Manchester United 1878-2005.

The body has gone, the soul lives on.

FC United.

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

What a kick in the knackers that is!
Back on to the formation. The 4-3-3 is a big problem because the wingers are the 2 most attcking players after the striker but they play far too off the main striker which is why Ruud has been left so isolated in this formation.

So now what happens to the team?
We're not in debt yet so dont panic guys. And you can always watch the games from your home cuz we probably wont be able to watch games at OT as often anymore thanx to the ticket prices.
But apparantly, we're getting an extra £20million transfer money too.
Who knows, maybe Glazer could make us even more successful.
We could even bring the title back home too...

Who am I kiddin'? Its all over.
I think I'm gonna cry.

well they said yesterday it would take him another 2 months to acrew 75.1% of shares but hes already at 71.8$ now!

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

What a newsworthy day for United...while Glazer clearly has larger long term implications, what do you think of Mikel? He's flipped out, and now wants to join Chelsea? I don't get it. If he'd wanted to join Chelsea it was more than an option. People at his club say the threats he's getting are telling him to say/do what he's doing, but that's pretty far fetched.

Can't believe football's gotten to the point where player's are threatened into signing for one team or another. Next think you know someones going to score an own goal in the world cup and be shot...wait...

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

I heard Chelsea agents came to see him and that was the last the his club saw of Mikel, they considered him AWOL. After that he turns up in London saying how he was pressured into signing for Man United. Crazy stuff!

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

The Glazer family have broken their silence on the events at Manchester United - insisting that they want to work with the current management and players.
Joel Glazer, son of sports tycoon Malcolm, expressed his delight at making an offer to take a controlling interest - as the fan furore at the sale continues.
"We are delighted to make this offer to acquire one of the pre-eminent football clubs in the world," said Joel Glazer.
"We are long-term sports investors and avid Manchester United fans.
"Our intention is to work with the current management, players and fans to ensure Manchester United continues to develop and achieve even greater success."
The news has been greeted with widespread dismay by Manchester United's fans, who believe that the sale will plunge the club into debt.

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

im amazed this can happen. there should be a law against it.

but there's one thing i dont get. this guy has debts, yet he can buy 75% of the stocks?

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

This is just ridiculas. We signed the kid a while ago where him AND the club agreed the deal. The signatures are on the paper and if was viewed by the press and everyone else in the world.
The next thing you know is that the guy gets loads of death threats and all of a sudden he wants to move to Chelsea.
This is all Abramovich's fault. He probably got some of his men to threaten the poor kid and now he's confused. I bet Abramovich will probably kidnap him soon cuz recently there were reports that the player went missing.
This guy isnt a player to miss out on. I saw clips of him on MUTV and he pretty good.

As for the Glazer thing, the only problem is that he might transfer all his debts onto the club if he gets full control which means we'd be finished. A guy on MUTV was researching Glazer and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (his NFL team) and found out that in his first season, he helped them win the Super Bowl similar to Chelsea but now, Tampa Bay Buccaneers are more like Newcastle United where they arent very consistant and Glazer really doesnt give a damn anymore.

A good news is that Man Utd reserves won in the Premier League Final where Rossi scored a great hatrick. I gotta tell ya, Rossi is such a great player now. If he was at any other Premiership team, he'd probably be in the starting XI. He's that good. Two of his goals were fantastic and out of nowhere. And he creates most of his goals himself instead of expecting service from his team mates. It looks like he's developing into a Henry-like player.

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

 Ibrahmovic got the Russian mafia involved?

Carlos Queiroz has accused Chelsea of virtually kidnapping Manchester United signing John Obi Mikel.
The United number two is furious that the Lyn midfielder is in London and, despite the teenager's denials, is presumably in talks with the Premiership champions.
Mikel told Sky Sports News that he no longer wants to go to Old Trafford despite initially enthusing about the prospect of playing for The Red Devils.
"It is unacceptable that a boy of 18 can almost be kidnapped from his home environment and taken to London and, within one day, be talking on television with an unhappy face," protested Queiroz.
"Football cannot live in such an anarchic environment. We do not know who is behind John's movements and who is taking responsibility for everything that happened yesterday.
"Two weeks ago, everybody could feel the boy had just made the best decision of his professional life. Now he is saying he signed the agreement under pressure.
"Everybody understands something happened in between. This is not an original situation, it has happened to other players."
United insist they have signed documents regarding the capture of one of the most promising young players on the planet and launched an appeal to the Premier League over the matter on Friday morning.
Lyn director Morgan Andersen says he is not upset with Mikel's actions because he believes the youngster is being pushed into trying to manoeuvre a move to Stamford Bridge.
"I don't think John went to England willingly," Andersen told VG.
"We are not upset with him.
"I don't dare go to London. Right now, it is dangerous to be there."

When you float as a plc you're for sale and that's final. You can't reap the the financial benefits without considering the downside. I find it hilarious when the Manu fans hold up banners stating "UTD NOT FOR SALE" banners when er actually you are!

It's not a good thing and I feel for the fans but at the end of the day he's done nothing illegal.

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

This is getting out of hand. The last part is particularly interesting...

Manchester United chief executive David Gill insists that Nigerian starlet John Obi Mikel has signed for the club despite the controversy surrounding his whereabouts.
The Red Devils beat Chelsea to the signing of the highly regarded 18-year-old, although mystery surrounds his future after the Norwegian club confirmed to skysports.com that they suspected the player had been taken by agents working for the London side.
Blues boss Jose Mourinho was understood to be upset at missing out on the talented youngster, although reports are now suggesting that the African ace may be entering into talks at Stamford Bridge.
United have written to Chelsea about the controversial dispute, and are confident of landing the player after he was paraded in the famous red of the Old Trafford outfit.
Gill firmly insisted that United had completed the signing of Mikel, and voiced his surprise at the course of events that has seen intrigue surround the transfer with his apparent disappearance.
"We cannot track John Obi unfortunately. We sent [youth team coach] Jim Ryan over there yesterday but he didn't get to see him at all," Gill told MUTV.
"He cannot go underground for ever, he was last seen making his way to London, which we find extremely surprising.
"I am very disappointed. We have written to another club but they have not responded to our letters.
"We have shown due deference to them, explaining the situation, we have sent copies to the Premier League and we will see the outcome.
"We did a deal with the club, quite properly, following the rules.
"We also did a deal with John Obi. He has turned 18 and turned professional, but in order to play in the Premier League he needs a work permit.
"That is the process we have gone through. We have the rights to the player."
The influence of agents Jerome Anderson and John Shittu is bound to be thrown into intense focus as further details emerge, and Lyn sporting director Morgan Andersen accused the pair of pressurising Mikel to change his mind.
"Why leave suddenly? Why not tell the club you are contracted to?" said Andersen.
"The boys who live with John could see he was scared, he was crying.
"I feel really bad for John, he has to protect himself and his family in Nigeria.
"The agents tried to influence him to say he didn't want to play for Manchester United.
"He didn't want to do that but he said he was under great pressure from those people."

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

JUst goes to show that business and football (particular fans) don't mix - unless its shirt and ticket sales. Good luck United but if he gets 90% then the other shareholders have to sell to him, they have no choice.:D Emotion tends to get in the way of business, and business often gets in the way of footy.

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

I'm tell you guys. Roman Abramovich is behind all this.
A while ago, I read in the newspaper that Roman was angry with Mourinho for missing out on Mikel. And then Mikel goes missing. Then he's suddenly found in London along with Chelsea agents. Then he appears on TV very upset and saying he wants to go to Chelsea.

This guy has been kidnapped. Chelsea and Abramovich are going too far now.

Re: It's not our club anymore!! F*ck Glazier!! MUFC RIP 2005

old mafia trick, point the gun to the head and sign the contract!

black humor aside, this is all too weird. IMO it's money talking again, the kid signed with ManUtd what for me appeared a great contrac with a great salary (for him), then Chelsea appears with the double or triple and he gets greedy!
But if he did really singed for ManUtd there is nothing chelsea can do cause ManUtd will have the law on their side.
