Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Wenger and Fergie fight for Vicente
Bitter rivals Arsenal and Manchester United are ready for another ding-dong battle. This time they will feud over the signature of Valencia's flying winger Vicente, who has put the Premiership on alert by announcing he wants to play in England. Vicente said: "I'd love to have a go in England. I really like the style of play in the Premiership."
Steve Millar, Daily Star

I certainly hope this is true.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Arsenal don't need a new left-winger anyway. They've got Pires, Reyes and Van Persie who can all play there.

Unless, of course, the rumours about Reyes are true.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

How many stars have chosen Arsenal over United? If he did move, i'd bet its to United... also because of their economic status.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Giggs should have his wish granted, another two years.Plus,he can move inside, into that second striker role he relishes while Vicente can claim the left wing as his's own.Imagine,Ronaldo and Vicente on the wings...OMG.I'm pretty sure we were chasing Vicente after the transfer of Robben broke down but we couldnt afford him. This time we should not miss this flying winger.

giggs as the second striker option? but by the time vicente comes ruud will be fit again... and so will be smith. rooney, smith, ruud, saha, AND giggs? i think we can do without vicente, even though his skills show other wise. HOWEVER i would hate to lose out to the cockneys to get his signature, so maybe getting him won't be such a bad idea

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well Chelsea screwed up. The bad news is that City played well and we have to play them next.

Then a tough FA Cup game away to Everton, THEN the little matter of the first leg v Milan.

Its gonna be a tough two weeks.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Manchester United have confirmed to the Stock Exchange that Malcolm Glazer has finally launched his long-awaited £800million bid to buy the club.

A statement from the club read: "The board of Manchester United stated on December 20 that the Glazer Family Partnership ('Glazer') had indicated potential revisions to its previous proposal and that Manchester United did not intend to open discussions on this matter until it had received a definitive proposal.

"The board has noted the recent press speculation on this subject. The board can confirm that it has now received a detailed proposal subject to various pre-conditions which may form the basis of an offer for Manchester United from Glazer. A further announcement will be made in due course."

Chief executive David Gill and the rest of the Red Devils board must now analyse Glazer's plans to see if they would be in the best interests of the club.

Glazer, who owns a 28.1% stake in the club, has been rebuffed by Gill on three separate occasions already, most notably before the club's annual general meeting in November.

Having had his demand to inspect United's accounts rejected by Gill, Glazer took revenge by voting three senior directors - legal advisor Maurice Watkins, commercial director Andy Anson and non-executive director Phillip Yea - off the Old Trafford board.

The move cost Glazer the backing of his PR advisors Brunswick and bankers JP Morgan. However, it now appears the financiers have had a change of heart and are again thought to be major players in Glazer's fresh approach, based at around 300p per share, which was confirmed in an official club statement today.

Lets not forget Solskjaer who comes back next season.

A quick question about this takeover. If Glazer really has this money without any debts involved like the last time, do the United board have a choice of whether to accept it or can Glazer force a hostile takeover? In other words, can he be stopped even if he has the money?

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss
Roy Keane can become the next Sir Alex Ferguson. That's the verdict of the man the Irishman succeeded as Manchester United captain, Birmingham boss Steve Bruce. Keane has already started to plan a career in management when he retires. Players should watch out. "You don't captain this club unless you have something about you," said Bruce. "And Roy is a top player, a proper captain who leads by example. Knowing Roy, he will want to go out at the top and if he goes into management then I'm sure he will do well. He's got all the attributes you need. The only question I would ask him is does he want to end up like me, all grey, twisted and angry? Tell him not to do it!"
David Anderson, Daily Mirror

Sounds good dosent it.

ps. lovin' the title of that article... THE WHO!!! WOOOO HOOO!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He'd be a good assistant manager for us cuz he can really get you motivated.
But when Sir Alex leaves, I'd want someone like Steve McClaren to take over. He already has a history with us and is doing a good job at Boro.

Giggs Inter-est
Inter are set to make a move for Ryan Giggs in the summer. The Welsh winger has yet to agree a new deal at Old Trafford, with his long-term admirers from the San Siro ready to move in. Reports over the weekend claimed that Giggs had signed a new deal but his agent has denied this. "It is all a load of rubbish," said Harry Swales. "We have still not spoken to United for a second time."

Inter eh? Another Kily Gonzalez.....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The one thing that is great about football is that no one is irreplacable. Admittedly though, it will be very tough to find suitable players to replace Keane and Giggs.

As for Giggs, I think Utd are being silly. Giggs has a few years left on him yet. Nobody can catch the b$£t*!d to crock him! Can't see him leaving but Utd need to replace their aging players. You don't want to do an early-90's Liverpool!!

The whole Giggs to Inter Milan story is getting rather boring now

Its time to turn the page

I know. Its been going on for years now.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Remember the time inter were after Keane, and instead signed Robbie Keane by mistake?? They sold him after less than a year to Leeds.... haha knob jockeys.

They really thought he was Roy Keane?

Yeah, Inter Milan- one of the world's biggest clubs, managed to buy the wrong player. Do you not think they'd have thought something was up when they realised "Roy Keane" was playing for Coventry City?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I would love Wright-Phillips as a replacement for Giggs, he is young, talented, can play on the right-wing, with Ronaldo on the left, he scores goals, he is English and one for the future. He wont be at the Shitty next season.

im not convinced, he's 23 now and not really impressed me, dont get me wrong he's scored a few goals and looked good in a poor side (harry kewell anyone) but im not sure of his ability at top level, compared to a 19 year Ronaldo (played great at the Euro's team got to a final, regular CL football etc) and a 19 year old Rooney, to me SWP is overated....

Anyone see duffs challenge on Ronaldo, obviously told to leave his mark as WE KNOW cheslea are nervoulsy looking over thier shoulder, and not at the russian giving em' one

b)did you see duffs challenge, cause from that picture it just looked like your standard trip, nothing too dirty

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I haven't seen it, but it looks like he's clearly stamping on his ankle which looks quite dangerous.
I don't know about him doing it on purpose though just because he's a United player, that seems a bit silly to me.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

hmm i sense duff is a bit jealous at c-ro game for the last 3-4 games or may be after the backheel flick in the game

thats very dirty
