Dont forget rio's return aswell as a new dumb haircut. Saha needs some goals under his belt he always gets into good positions then gets unlucky like lastnite or gets injured.

Giggs: Speedy recovery. (MatthewAshton/Empics)
Ryan Giggs is expected to return to Manchester United's line-up for Saturday's vital Premiership encounter with Liverpool at Anfield. The 31-year-old limped out of United's goalless draw with Tottenham nine days ago after suffering a hamstring strain, sparking fears the Welshman could be out of action for up to a month. However, Red Devils boss Sir Alex Ferguson was quick to play down those rumours and insisted Giggs would return within a fortnight

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I thought Fletcher played well last night. Bearing in mind he was up against Lampard and Makelele, two of the best midfielders in the world. And this time he didn't have Scholes or Keane to back him up. He helped set up counter attacks and his passing was good.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I agree Gazz,Fletcher had a great game against Chelski. His passing was crisp, looked lively and his overall gameplay has greatly improved, never put a foot wrong in my opinion.I think this is how we should line up againts the scousers this weekend.

---------------------------Howard--------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
--P.Nev---------Rio----------------Silvestre----------Heinze--
--------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------Keane----------------------------------
----Fletcher--------------------------------Scholes--------------
-------------------------------------------------------------------
--Ronaldo-------------------------------------------Rooney----
---------------------------Saha----------------------------------

I expect Giggs to come in for Ronaldo/Rooney in some stage of the match.C'mon United!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Why isn't carroll between the sticks, his twice the keeper Howard is

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

that looks just about right phrase, but i would switch rooney for ronaldo... just because ronaldo can play both wings. if giggs is cleared to start, would you lot still start fletcher and have something like:
(A)
--------------------keane
---------fletcher------------scholes
ronaldo--------------------------------giggs
--------------------rooney

or would you (B):

ronaldo----keane----scholes--------giggs
-----------------rooney-----saha

?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Last season we beat em 2-1 with Giggs getting both goals and the season before that we beat em when Forlan scored.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well couldn't have that made that much more stressful. I was sure Carragher's shot at the end was going through Carroll, I don't know if he even noticed he saved it. Phew! I wasn't too impressed, but I guess when you consider only about half of those playing were actual first 11, not bad at Anfield. I wonder if, other than (hopefully) against AC Milan we'll actually see what I think is the first team:
-----Keeper (i don't care, they both scare me)----
G. Neville --- Rio --- Silvestre -- Heinze
--------------Keano---------------
-----------------------Scholes--------------------
Ronaldo----------------------------Giggs
-----------Saha------------------------
--------------------RVN

What's wrong with Smith? I was so confused not to see his name on the bench, he would have been a great asset to bring on with about 20 left to strengthen midfield.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great result once again,i never had a doubt about winning at Anfield, never. However, they did made us sweat for the last 20 mins after Brown got sent off.Morientes has scored debut goals everywhere he played except in England. Its been said that El Moro will be put off by harsh challenges and physical gameplay and thats what our centreback has given him.Our backline really looked solid but the most important thing is,their confidence is at an all time high, yet another clean sheet. We won without Rio and Giggs, got a player sent off and Rooney scored the winner to add salt to the wound, what more can we ask for? C'mon United.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

In all honesty Liverpool never looked as though they could score against us whereas in midweek against Chelsea it was the opposite. Both times our defence was superb!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

thats right mate, a great result for us, we can go in to any fixture brimming with confidence now. speaking of which, its exeter city away in the FA Cup replay.

i was extremely worried when i saw that wes brown was to start in front of an injured ferdinand. neither him nor RVN passed the fitness test prior to kick off so it was troubling to start with. however when i saw fletcher, brown and p neville (three players who have just recently received starting positions) get stuck in, i was able to watch the rest of the game with a little more comfort. @beachryan, yea i thought carragher's shot was going to slip through as well, if anything carroll did well to just get in the way of it. at any rate, 3 points are 3 points and we ll take it knowing our stars will be returning soon...

my man of the match? mikael silvestre of course! he held morientes and baros well and was a big reason why we kept our three points. of course big ups to jerzy dudek, he's managed again to let the errors of the past (in the same fixture) continue to haunt him. lastly i would've willingly given MOTM to roomania, however i dont think his goal was enough (if that's possible, or perhaps thats just how much i felt silvestre did for us tonight)

there are also some minor points to make, ronaldo played decently well i thought, which made me wonder why it was he was subbed off so soon. i felt sheasy held up his end quite nicely, coming on as a result of a sending off is a big ask, nevermind having to defend the kop end up only 1-0. louis saha didn't play his best football, i felt some of his first touches seemed a little forced, but with injury recovery comes time, and time is what he needs to get back to the swing of things. scholesy and keano were instrumental in the middle and, well thats really all i can say. heinze once again proved his worth as he was in contention for MOTM imo, with several crunching tackles on luis garcia and morientes.

REALLY excited about this! this is quality and class... CMON UNITED!

Well done for the win. We didn't look like scoring against you today, too narrow. To be honest, I thought that it was more a Liverpool (read Dudek) loss today than a Utd victory. Time to buy a new keeper (both teams!). :applause:

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Loved Rooneys celebration. Only problem it could get him into some trouble.

If he continues with what he did to Baros (Over reacting and tried to kick him after the tackle), he will end up like Totti. Great player, but hated by many for his dirty play. Hes still young, and I think if Fergie does something about it, he can be a much better player.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm actually suprised he hasn't gotten better at controlling himself. It can only get worse if he continues to lash out like that (and against Ben Haim) as opponents will play to the weakness. He clearly has talent, I just think its going to be a while before he starts to perform consistently. I wonder if Smith gives him any advice, he seems to be getting a bit better under Fergie.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Smith is 24 and Rooney is 19. There is a big age difference there. Smith only stopped his tantrums last year (when he was 23), so there is still plenty of time for Rooney to mature.

Oh boy when these two boys,Roo and Ro finally matured as a player...dayumm,they could be united legends in the making,no doubt.I dont think Rooney's celebration could get him into trouble, even if it does,it will get Sir Alex's shielding. At the post match interview when asked about what does he think of Rooney's celebration at the Kop end,Sir Alex said sumthing like,"That where he scored innit? I dont see any problems in that..." Moments after he scored and did the Christian Vieri's celebration, its been reported that a cellphone was thrown at him,hahaha...rich people these scousers are!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

ITs repoted in the paper that wenger wanted to fight fergie in the tunnal earlier in the season. I find it highly amusing that Arsene Wenger would want to hurt himself that way. I could imagine Fergie just laughing at him in his face.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We are having a great run. Keep it going, boys.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm really looking forward to seeing who you field against Milan, what is the team likely to be?
