Tickets cost almost 100 euros per person for Milan - United. Ive managed to get 3 tickets! Cant wait aswell.

Well worth it, a famous ground for the Milan fans!

We had a laugh and got pissed with fans from both Milan and Juve for the CL final, they got treated well, no trouble at all, but then again we never have grief with visiting European teams.

Sir Alex Ferguson is leading calls for the introduction of video technology into football after seeing Manchester United escape with a draw at home to Tottenham.

Ferguson was joined by Spurs boss Martin Jol and Arsenal chief Arsene Wenger after Roy Carroll received an amazing reprieve following his Old Trafford blunder.

The United keeper fumbled a speculative 60-yard lob from Pedro Mendes and the ball clearly landed well over his own goal-line in the closing stages of an entertaining encounter.

However, much to the away fans' disbelief, referee Mark Clattenburg and his assistant Robert Lewis ruled that play should continue and the game finished 0-0.

Ferguson told MUTV: 'I think it hammers home what a lot of people have been asking for and that's that technology should play a part in the game, particularly in an incident like that because it clearly shows the ball was over the line.

'What I was against originally was the time factor in video replays but I read an article the other day which suggested that if a referee can't make up his mind after 30 seconds of watching a video replay then the game should carry on.

'Thirty seconds is about the same amount of time it takes to organise a free-kick or take a corner or a goal-kick. So you wouldn't be wasting a lot of time.

'I think you could start off by using it for goal-line decisions. I think that would be an opening into a new area of football.'

The Scot added on Sky Sports' Premiership Plus: 'I don't think you can blame the referee or the linesman because even from my position I couldn't see.

'It looked as if it was over, but I couldn't be sure and the linesman was scurrying back to get to a position where he could see but obviously couldn't do it.'

Tottenham boss Jol was understandably left fuming at being denied a clear-cut match-winner.

He said: 'What really annoys me is that we are here in 2005, watching something on a TV monitor within two seconds of the incident occurring and the referee isn't told about it.

'He is already wearing an earpiece so why can't we just stop the game and get the decision right.

'We are not talking about the ball being a couple of centimetres or an inch or two over the line, it was a metre inside the goal.

'I cannot say the referee or his assistant were a disgrace. They are only human and, like everyone else, they make mistakes.

'But we had TV screens in the dug-out and we were able to see the replays within two or three seconds. When that technology is available, why are we not using it?'

Arsenal coach Wenger had called for replays to be trialled before last night's game and believes that the officials' mistake provided clear backing for his conviction.

He declared: 'When the whole world apart from the referee has seen there should be a goal at Old Trafford, that just reinforces what I feel - there should be video evidence.

'It's a great example of where the referee could have asked to see a replay and would have seen in five seconds that it was a goal.'

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just a quick question. For it to count as a goal, does the ball have to cross the line AND touch the ground?
What if someone cleared the ball that went over the line but it didn't touch the ground?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No, as long as the whole of the ball has crossed the line, then a goal is awarded, doesnt matter if its in the air, or rolling across the ground.

Yeha but after being out for so long, i doubt they'd start him for a Champions League game, maybe as a sub.
does that mean when he is back from injury, or when he is available to play.... since its on the 23rd and the other dates listed are all on game days im assuming it means he is ready to play.....

Hmm, I think youre right there.... Lets just hope its accurate.
yeah me too, but you know it makes sense that the date they list is gameday cause that would be the first day the player is avalable to play... so i bet ruud will be comming on in the second half.... lookout nesta

Drop the red donkey
Roy Carroll is to be axed by Manchester United following his high-profile blunder against Tottenham that has been the talk of football. Despite getting away with the howler, even though the ball clearly crossed the line, Sir Alex Ferguson has decided it's time to give Tim Howard the chance to regain the goalkeeping slot. Although Carroll, 26, has kept clean sheets in his last four games and conceded just 11 goals in his last 21 matches, he has not looked his usual commanding self of late. His calamitous 90th-minute balls-up against Spurs from a 50-yard Pedro Mendes shot was preceded by another blunder just before half-time, when he spilled an easy catch. Given Carroll's contract runs out at the end of this season - and he has yet to agree a new deal - his latest error could not have come at a worse time for the Northern Ireland international.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The only way Carrolls gona get over these blunders is to keep playing. I dont think hes done bad at all. He should still remain first choice.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yea but if he keeps playing then there is more chance of him doing the same, fumbling a shot from 50 yards out is pretty shocking, and his confidence will be very low so he will probably do the same next match..

Keepers get it tight, because if they make a mistake they get torn apart, but if players in any other position make a mistake nothing seems to get said.

I wouldnt play Caroll again, I would put him in the reserves ot against the crappy teams, and see how he does. But Man UTD need a new keeper, all they got is 2 blunder masters.
