Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

tv replays don't even come in to as far as that is concerned, it's not even a marginal decision

there's been that many blatant mistakes by officials this season that something needs to be done by the fa now, the officials are either incompetant or fuckin corrupt

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

just watched the highlights on a mates 3 phone (just finished work now u see so i missed MOTD) and have to admit the decision was shockin!!!
even though we (seemingly - from the highlights i saw) dominated the match we were lucky to get away with a point

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

you lot remember how i created a thread about what some of you felt about tv replays for the officials? i really feel now would be a good time. @ fishcake, ive noticed that too, the refs have started to make some dubious calls starting this year and tv replays have helped many world-known sports greatly

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

This festive season,we have seen some of the poorest referee decisions ever but last night was the worst.Having said that,I dont think the linesman could have saw it as the united backline has pushed up so high almost to the centreline, then Pedro Mendes took that shot.Carroll should have punched it over the bar or at least it parry it away from the goal first, then catching it.I think Sir Alex should bring T.Ho back...Carroll's being a bitch anyway, stalling on contract talks ever since he made himself feel important in the first team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

im impressed that ur manager isnt being a usual bitch about this goal blunder.....he usually blaims someone or something for it...lol i guess this was way to obvious

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

2 points I want to bring up before I start my rant which I'll post later today.

First of all, blunders like this (I'm talking about the linesman's one) will happen all the time. If video technology was used, imagine how slow the game will get. It probably takes about a minute to make a decision using the video footage so what if the game had about 20 different situations like handballs and fouls, etc during the game, Imagine the amount of time it will waste.]

The second point is that we have the second best defensive record in the premiership right now and Carroll has got many clean sheets under his belt. Do we really want to give that up and use another keeper because of the mistakes he made yesterday?

I agree that decison last night was shocking, the linesman should hand in his notice, no excuses he's not fit to handle a premiership game.

I only saw the highlights, but did spurs protest crazily or did MOTD just cut that out?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No one protested cuz none of the players were in a position to see it.

A minute? No chance.

Even Martin Jol said he could see the incident on the TV near the dug-outs 2 seconds after it all occured, this kinda technology wouldn't slow the game down at all as long they didn't take the piss exploring different angles of looking at the telly :D

5 seconds, ten at the max, the time it takes for a goal kick to be set up, or a corner or a free-kick....

I'm not talking about that incident. The Carroll error could be spotted by a blind man from the stands. I'm talking about the handball and dives that are hard to spot because you have to completely slow the video down and watch from many angles. That does take a least 30 seconds to decide. It can completely ruin the pace of the game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

he knew it was a goal...!!!! thats why

as for the guy who says it happens and there should be no replay's ....urmm dude how about this ...some D**khead ref.....just wears this headpieace and when a goal is in but not givin the video ref will tell the ref by vocal communitcaition tht it is a goal and then imeedaitly the ref will say GOAL ..lol

Don't you get it? The people giving the "vocal communication" will have to analyse the footage of the incident to give a fair decision. Thats obviously gonna slow down the game especially in games where there are loads of fouls and dives, etc.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

was anyone here on the opposite side of the park, how was the view, i can see if your at eye level and your 70 yards from the goal, you could miss this play, however replay would catch it.....

tim howard needs to be back in the 11, carrol has made more blunders recently and he is just getting lucky they havent hurt United... Timmys blunders were not nearly as bad, plus he was a scapegoat for silvestre

you gotta point, but at least this woldnt happen, cheap way to get a tie, and whoever thinks the officicals are corrupt your an idiot, the head ref, besides that call, was calling an astounding game, he was a very good ref before and after that call, not during, but then again, the linesman should have caught that....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Im more worried about Giggs' situation at the moment. Hes got a hamstring problem again and will most likely be out for 6 weeks!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Other news for us to get worried about...

Manchester United star Ryan Giggs faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines with a hamstring injury. The Welsh international limped off in the first half of Tuesday's controversial draw with Tottenham. Giggs was forced to leave the action early with the hamstring problem and could be out of action for up to six weeks. The news is a major blow for United as Giggs has been in superb form of late, scoring a number of important goals in United's recent rich vein of form.United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has admitted Giggs will be out for some time with the injury and that his withdrawal against Spurs cost them all three points at Old Trafford.

Now thats really bad news for us,Giggsy has been instrumental for us lately and to loose him now is really piss poor timing. Lets just wish we could get Saha back before Ruud now.Again,I think now would be the perfect time to get T.Ho back in the first team,Carroll will be in the spotlight now, rest him and give T.Ho a chance to redeem himself.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Carroll has given us too many cleansheets and helped us hold the second best defensive record after Chelsea. What if Tim Howard can't live up to it? I wouldn't take the risk. I'd let Carroll finish the season and then sell him.

whatever, those clean sheets are more attribute to Rio then carroll, he is avg keeper at best, howard has that athetic edge which can leade to amazing saves at the right time, its time for howard :0

I agree to csaunders,he is not biased just cos he is american

but I think its time to leave Carroll out of the media/spotlight for a while and let T.Ho take over.I think he would do well cos, there will be no pressure for him,the backline is solid enough already and that would be his confidence booster.Howard is better than Carroll in terms of overall ability anyways and while hes only 24,he can only get better.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We looked shot last nite, the injuries didnt help, it was crying out for someone like Rooney.

Spurs we're sh*te and didnt deserve the three points regardless off carrols blunder but neither did we so a point each is about right.

Terrible mistake from both the linesman and carrol, why they cant have the same tech that they have in tennis??

Anyway whats done is done.

Gutted about giggsy, as soon as he went off we lost our way, not sure whether that'll mean Fergie will sign a forward/attacking player with saha/ruud/ole and now giggsy all missing.

sucks that vicente is out hurt, we could have tried to bid for him , but i think he is cup tied for CL(does that exist), looks like chelsea is gonna take it, i mean, i dont think united should give up, but we have a very good chance of the CL if we can get injury free...

yeah didnt know that about Vicente, not sure who we can get in thats not cup tied but tbh I dont think fergie will buy anyone, unless its bargin or its too good to miss.

I dont mind if chelsea win it, I mean you cant hate on a team that havent won it since the fifties, if they win it they will join blackburn on 1 Prem title, and remember its not ours to lose arsenal will be the losers not us but they havent won back to back titles for god knows how long.

As for the CL, with giggs and ruud set to miss the Milan game I'm not optimistic but by the time we play them they may have injury worries of there own so who knows.
