Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i can do nothing but to agree with him:

Roy Keane on manutd.com said:
The United captain’s comments follow an incident on Boxing Day when Bolton defender Tal Ben Haim seemed to over-react after clashing with Wayne Rooney.

With Rooney now suspended for three matches on a charge of violent conduct, Keane has been moved to speak out on what he sees as unsporting behaviour.

"A lot of players seem to be looking to get others booked or sent off," explains Keane. "That’s definitely something that’s crept into the game over the last year or two.

"I know Wayne has his own case to answer, but in a lot of other cases players are reacting and trying to get their fellow professionals into trouble which is disgraceful and it needs to stop."

Rooney's subsequent three-game ban for what the Football Association deemed as violent conduct has infuriated Sir Alex Ferguson, who will be without his young striker for the trip to Middlesbrough on New Year's Day, as well as the home games with Tottenham and Exeter (FA Cup).

Fergie labelled the behaviour of Haim as 'embarrassing' and his skipper believes it's something that is becoming a more frequent occurrence in the Premiership.

"I'm not sure what you can do about it," admits Keane. "That's maybe something the likes of the PFA and the FA need to look at.

"It’s not just about the case involving Wayne. Lots of stuff goes on in a game and if you were to go down whenever anyone touched you, then every player would be down.

"But you see it every weekend now. Players go down as soon as they’re touched and try to con the referee, the crowd and their fellow players which drives me crazy."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

rooney cant have no complaints he raised his hands to somebodys face. you dont do that, its a no-no

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yea i guess but what ben haim did wasn't right either, i think what keano is trying to say is that the attention is always on one party instead of on both

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You are right kevano, but as Keano puts it,Rooney has his own case to answer, what he did was obvious, but its not a punch,he just pushed Haim's face away and the man fell like a sack of potatoes. Its just a shame that in a manly game like football, fellow professionals are diving and whining at the slightest touch(read up more about Vieira and Pires).I just love this quote by Sir Alex,"Just because its Wayne Rooney and just because its Man United"...this has become a big story!

It looks like we are gonna put Spector's loan move to Blackburn on hold due to the rising number of injured players. However,Sir Alex did promised Mark Hughes that the deal will go through before the transfer window closes.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i do not like rooney's behaviour.. why can he change like Smith? i mean Smith was one of the player that has a hot-tempered when he was at leeds but hes change now..

Smith is 23, while Rooney is only 19. He still has plenty of time to mature.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good win for us at the Riverside.Boro has always been one of the bogey teams for us but our good run does continues.11 cleans sheets in 21 games now which is outstanding. Our backline has been superb lately,Heinze and Rio was immense in presence last night,Keano played one of his best games so far and old boy,Ryan "Flyin" Giggs continues his hot iron form.Spurs are upnext at OT on tuesday night....C'mon United!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

one of our weaker performances in general, but i still thought we had the best opening 10 minutes of this campaign. ronaldo's miss was a clear indiction of our dominance. however, after fletcher's goal, we lifted our foot off the gas a little too much and just held possesion. i guess that's ok until they started threatening our goal a bit, but we still couldn't manage to breach the boro backline for the second time. scholes had a mediocre game while keano had one of his best along with ferdy, silvestre and heinze. (i personally felt p neville felt out of place in his sibling's position) and also alan smith had a great all round outting.

i'm still a little perplexed over our starting lineup. i feel that giggs makes a better striker than ronaldo so i was a little taken back when i saw the lineup. however i soon learnt that ronaldo and giggs didnt only switch wings when playing complimentary of each other, they switched about when playing different thirds of the pitch as well.

anyway, great result, spurs at OT next, CMON UNITED!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think he should be back mid to late January. Late Jan looks more likely at the moment.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i read on manutd.com that it was more sever than that. i remember it saying for the rest of the season, but if not, then thats good.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Unless you watched the last game live, you most likely don't know that Ronaldo came off for Djemba because he was injured after a tackle. I hope it isn't serious. MOTD didn't show it in the highlights.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yea he had the lower part of his leg wrapped tightly, around his shin and calf, it's probably just a small thing like a dead leg or something, but he's had a decent rest prior to last weeks fixture so, yea hopefully its only a slight niggle

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I heard that Inter Milan are having a massive sale at the G.Meazza stadium,hahaha...I think United should move in for Andy Van der Mayde. He would be a perfect backup for Ronaldo and Giggs as he can play on both wings too, plus hes only 25 and would be perfect for the Premiership. What do you guys think?

I fully agree (as I said in the other thread).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ive never been too impressed with Van der Meyde. I would like to see us sign someone like like Emre from Inter in maybe a part exchange with Kleberson and Djemba or even both of em.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Oh my God. Manure have to be the luckiest team of all time. I can't believe the linesman didn't give that goal. What a joke!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

well i ve got to say lads, frankly i dont really know what it was we deserved, a victory from possesion, or a loss from carroll's howler... i was pissing me pants when he fumbled it, but am now shaking me head in disappointment by the result

@ mike: to the ref's assistance defence, he was well away from the play, seeing as how pedro mendes had punted that from half. there was no way any HUMAN BEING can run across the pitch like that, just to see if it went in. nevertheless, if we did mis-fire like we did tonight, we deserved to lose.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

That was the poorest decision I have ever seen by a linesman. The ball was 2 feet into the goal. :D

Can the Sir please bring back Tim Howard now?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You have to admit, you were very lucky tonight. Forget the recent spate of handballs, this takes the biscuit. How far over the goal line was it? Something for the pundits to froth at the mouth over for the next week or so me thinks. Blah blah video replays.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.
