Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Why would you be happy any player is injured? When you face a team, if you actually care about the whole 'sport' aspect of the game, then you don't want to face them at their weakest, that's not what its about. Because if you beat United and they're without a large number of their strong players, that's not really beating United, despite what it says in the W-L column. And anyway, say what you will about his appearance (and please, let Mr. Wenger convince you that Ruud does nothing but cheat, is not world class, and he somehow cheats in more goals than almost anyone else per game) but he's still just a professional athelete, like any other one out there, and being injured is just about the worst thing that can happen to them.

Unless of course you just wanted to come on the forum, have a bit of a taunting of United fans, and watch the fireworks, in that case, well, that's kind of sad...

I don't think many people are afraid of him unless they have a phobia of Horses!

And yes I will call him anything I want, thank you very much.

And why would I masturbate over my post? don't think the postman would be very happy would he?
Hey,how did you know I'm a funny guy? I'm glad I can make people laugh...but you are one sad case.Comes in the forum, goes into the United thread, taunts people with your silly lines...you said you've been here a long time rite, even though you have only 12 sorry postings,I think its best u keep it under 20 posts or people are going to know that you are actually an idiot. Its for your own good mate, give it a go.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

alright, let's just keep the comments here to united related only, and by united related, i mean constructive comments. not how the facial features of a footballer effects his performance.

young american fullback jonathon spector has joined blackburn rovers on a 6 month loan that sees him playing at ewood park until the end of this campaign.

hope he does well

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Any insider news about January Transfer?...Whats the word about Sergio Ramos? I think we definitely need a winger for each side as covers for Giggs and Ronaldo.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Is there any point having a ref at old trafford? surely it's waste of the
refs match fees. In the first half v Bolton, Keane gets away with a disgusting challange on Diouf and the fact he desrves it doesn't count and Rooney slaps a defender in the face and gets away with it as well!!!! It's a flipping disgrace.

Yeah mate, the referee committee works with Ferguson now, didnt you already know?

Rooney slaps a defender? I dont think so mate, its more like pushing his face away, cos Ben Haim was trying to have a go at the boy after they bumped.I personally think Ben Haim made a total "mcdonalds happy meal" of it all. I didnt see the bolton players running towards the ref whatsoever to appeal.

Great result for us cos Bolton was always a hard team to beat, thats for sure, just ask Arsenal and Chelski. Its Villa up next on tuesday nite, roll on United.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney should have gotten a card, he needs to be able to get over weaker players like Ben Haim trying to get him mad, or else he'll never get far. Other than that, pretty decent performance. Ronaldo...second half was awful, don't know what was wrong, I blame Christmas lunch.

But anyway, I don't know how long Giggsy and Scholes can keep United afloat, but while they are, let the good times rolll....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Giggsy and Scholes keep United afloat just as Henry and co for Arsenal and Robben for Chelsea keep their teams afloat. These players are expected to keep their teams afloat and if they dont....

I fully agree.

I hate it when people say that we depend on Scholes/Giggs/*insert important team member here* too much. They never seem to say it about Arsenal (without Henry and Pires' goals they would be screwed) and Chelsea (Duff has saved them a few times this season. Also, Terry).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

great overall performance, we got a good look at a potential (potential exaggerated) target for the january transfer in jussi jaiskalainen (sp?). hopefully scholes and giggs continue their respective forms and that ronaldo will pick up really quickly.

as for rooney, i think a card for both would be warranted, but since neither were punished during the match itself, both should sit out for one match, rooney for the action and haim for the blatant acting. (haim should be fined too, rivaldo did didnt he)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I dont see why Ronaldo was brought back so early. He should have atleast been given another weeks rest.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

for sure. just the way he played, didnt seem like he had 100% energy. vann, do you have any idea why ronaldo came back so quickly?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If the FA get their way it looks like Rooney may be suspended for a few games. A strange situation. From four able strikers at the start of the season, to only one possible striker.

Maybe we could revert to a 4-3-2-1 again. With Smith as the lone striker and Ronaldo/Giggs as the wingers.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well Everton messed up. So if we win tonight we go above them on goal difference.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

done done aaand... done! 1-0 from giggs again!!! that means the villans only have 7 points in their last 8 matches i think while we've only dropped 2 points in our last 8

impressive, happy new year to all! CMON REDS!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I love Smith but Ruud would be scoring a feast of goals the way we are playing at the moment.

Did anyone else think Fletcher had a good game last night ?

I thought he played well
he had some fantastic passes to send people thru but he needs to work on his shot and his tackling....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i think fletch needs to improve his first touch too!

the first 15 minutes of the second half almost made me had heart attack :D villa made good attacks but thank god manutd didnt conceded a single goal

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Fletcher has an awareness problem. Too many times have players just walked into him and nicked the ball from behind.
Anyone notice whenever Ronaldo made a hash of a pass or shot he quickly turned around and apologised as if he were shittin' getting a bollocking!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I noticed that Ronaldo is a great short-passer of the ball. He just doesn't pass enough. He isn't really known for his passing, but I really think he is good at it. There were two times last night when he actually passed, instead of taking a shot. One was when he did great to get up the wing, then played a great pass the Scholes (who should have hit the target). The second was when he split Villa's defence open with a pass to Keane (who passed to Smith for that awful miss). I've also noticed it in previous games too.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yes Gazz, its only natural for Ronaldo to make those passes as he possessed great technique.Players with great technique always have that extra touch to make simple passes look good.Ronaldo does have the ability to make defence splitting passes, but he dosent make the most of it.Maybe due to the fact that he plays on the wing? I think he would become a better player in the middle dont you all think? Superb passer of the ball, speedy, good shot and his most underrated attribute of all,he is a good header of the ball!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

hm, hes a great crosser who under-uses his crosses. besides that he makes a perfect winger because all of his goals in open play have come from shots as he carries the ball from the outside towards the inside, headers, or in the case of the recent match, he volleyed it after making a run in from the left wing

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

so far so good!!

Great to say us get back into the top three before the end of the year, its been a tough season so far but the run we've got going at the mo is pretty decent, Boro on NYD will be a tough cookie, with confidence high and players hitting form we should give a good account of where we're at.

Any of you familiar with this story....?

United have instructed Sao Paulo to release Brazilian starlet Rincon a year early - so he can join Sporting Lisbon next season.

United signed Rincon, (Carlos Eduardo Castro Lourenco), in 2003 and immediately agreed to loan him back for two years - before a move to Sporting.
The deal was struck as United brokered their partnership with Sao Paulo - similar to the one they already have with a host of clubs around the world including Sporting and Royal Antwerp.

United are now cancelling the last year of Rincon's stay at Sao Paulo, so he can begin next season at the Jose Alvalade.
Sporting have already been informed and they are understood to be more than happy to have a player who is now emerging as a real talent.
The 17-year-old was due to stay at Sporting for two years from 2006 - but now it looks as if he could have an extended stay in Portugal.

Rincon is contracted to United until 2010, after signing a five-year deal with an option for another two and United hope he will be ready for Old Trafford after his stint at Sporting - which should finish in 2008.

United's Academy chief Les Kershaw confirmed that they had moved to get Rincon to Sporting early.
"It is best to give him the push in his career," Kershaw told Portuguese paper Record.
Kershaw revealed that the deal set up by United could be the first of many deals.
"He is the first of many young Brazilians who can be moved in this new partnership between the three clubs."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Whats with these rumours about Sevilla player Sergio Ramos? United and Arsenal are apparently after him. Anyone know anything about him?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

vann: ive heard good things about this rincon lad, hopefully by 2010 he will prove worth the time.

gazz: i wish i knew more about him, but we've got a pretty good eye for young talent, with the odd mistakes like kleber and djemba.

knh4: rooney deserved a ban, but maybe 3 is too much, how much did ben haim get for his theatrical performance?

-fb

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Im not saying Rooney didnt deserve a ban. At the most he deserved a 1 match ban for an act of stupidity rather than the over-exaggerated "violent conduct"

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney deserved the ban. Don't forget Rooney himself was very theatrical when he dived in front of Ben Haim, thats why the whole incident started.

To right he gets a three match ban, Vieira got sent off for flicking his foot in the general direction of Van Nistlerooy in the infamous game between man u and arsenal. What Rooney did was ten times worse.
