Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Benfica boss Giovanni Trapattoni has admitted that Manchester United's financial demands are blocking a move for Kleberson, and will end their interest if a deal is not struck within the next week.

The Portuguese giants are keen to take the Brazilian misfit to Estadio da Luz, but are still deciding whether to press ahead with a move after initial talks United.

Kleberson has failed to have the expected impact since his £7 million move from Atletico Paranaense, but the Premiership giants still expect to recoup the majority of that fee if he is to move on.

Benfica want to take the midfielder on an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent switch at the end of the season, but Trapattoni admits an agreement is still some way from being struck despite the player being keen on the move.

"I want Kleberson, but not for the money that Manchester United desire," the Italian stated.

"It is not an easy matter."

Indeed, 'Trap' claims that if the two sides can not agree on a deal inside the next week, the Lisbon giants will call off their chase completely.

"If the operation is not been closed by this day (January 26) then the door will be shut completely."

Why the hell are United holding out! we should sell for any price we get. Thats one less shit player we would have to worry about. To be honest im suprised anyone is even interested in him.

He's not shit at all. He's played about 22 games or something ridiculous like that and in the majority of those games he's looked pretty good. Not brilliant, but to label him with the likes of Djemba Djemba is stupid really as he's been destroyed by injuries.
He's better than Miller too who people seem to be raving about just because he's irish like Keane. Miller looks a distinctly average player to me, didn't do anything of note against Exeter and seems too lightweight for top level games. That was a great game last night to see who are real United players. While Djemba and Miller looked comfortable they didn't show anything of real quality like Scholes, Ronaldo and Giggs who all shone at times.
They'd be completely out of their depth in a big Champions League game which is where ultimately we need these sorts of players to be. See the Fenerbache away game for more evidence of this.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Another thing he's had against him is that he's been played out on the wings in quite a few of his appearances. As far as I remember, he still looked pretty capable in these matches too.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm sort of with you starsky, kleberson has better ability and isnt shit but he's not a United
player imo.

it'll be the same situation as Forlan in spain, where he's one of the players of the season so far, kleberson will move and probley be a star...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anyone else think Fletcher has successfully made the jump to the first team? Hes been playing great this season. Against some big teams too (Chelsea, Liverpool). I was especially impressed with him against Liverpool, he linked up well with Scholes and Keane and, for most of that game, overrun the midfield. When Brown got sent off I was expecting Fergie to sacrafice Fletcher, but he stuck with him and it paid off.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I always said Fletcher was going to be good last season. Keane's recent performances have shown what a good job Fletch is doing, doing all Keane's legwork for him. He seems to be getting more to his game everytime he plays too.

Fletcher is gonna be a top top player for us, not the most exciting but then again neither is Keano, he's got all the right things just needs to fill out abit.

Its taken him awhile to get going this season but I put that down to him getting injured in the summer, the more he plays the better he gets.

Chris Eagles has just been loaned to Watford till the end of the season. What do you guys think of this move? I personally think Eagles has bags of talent and should be one for the future.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

He hasn`t got a new hair style, he has been growing it for ages.

Oh yeah, Man United 1 - 0 Villa, Ronaldddddddoooooooo!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great performance from Ronnie, two poor touches stopped rooney from picking up a couple. Great to see Saha score, he does everything right but find the net lately.

Anyone who saw the game, and especially those non-united supporters: Any difference in Solano's shove on Silvestre's face and Rooney's on Ben Haim's? Other than, of course, ridiculous acting? I'll be VERY surprised if the FA even look into it, becuase who really cares abotu Solano (no offense, I normally like him, though today his bad side shone through the whole match, screaming evey time he was touched, waving around trying to get other players yellow carded, fighting with Heinze (not a good idea))

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We seem to be playing better away than at home, lately. Earlier in the season we were struggling to beat teams away from home and were easily beating teams at home. Now, at home, its almost a given that we'll win. Then doubts set in and games like the ones against Spurs and Villa happen.

We got away with it today, though. But we still didn't take most of our chances, and our defending was poor. I just hope we don't defend like that against Chelsea.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yea i totally agree, its a crying shame what nobby did today, i normally love the style of football he plays, as he is so exciting to watch, but seeing this just makes me second guess myself, but i guess we did well to frustrate him tonight (even though it was him and barry who exchanged well for their goal)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But thats just it. Don't get me wrong, I like Solano as a player too, but Rooney was labeled a madman and violent after his push. Yet Solano's integrity is not brought into question at all. And Solano is older too.

It also proves that playacting will help you get a player sent off and staying on your feet doesn't.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

thats right. tel-haim had a role to play in rooney's three match ban, and now silvestre will gift nobby a chance to continue playing (however, we won without rooney, not so sure about how successful villa would be without him)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Mac United
Middlesbrough could lose England youth full-back Tony McMahon to Manchester United. And the clubs are also discussing a swap deal which would take Stewart Downing to Old Trafford and Eric Djemba-Djemba in the opposite direction. McMahon, who skippered Boro's FA Youth Cup winning team last season, has rejected a new contract - and that has alerted United.
Paul Hetherington and John Richardson, Daily Star

This would be good business for Man United.Stewart Dowing for Eric Djemba Djemba would be one of the best deals ever.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I really like downing, I think it would be great for United and England if that actually happened. Great mentor in Giggsy, great opposite number in Ronaldo, great trade! Get it down SAF and co!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

oooooh dear *licking my chops* this is one tasty proposal, i would give my left nut to see this trade go down! however, im sure nobody in the right mind (aka steve mcclaren) would allow stewart downing go for a player like djemba, ive got a feeling the player heading the other way would be someone with a bit more potential

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Sir Alex thinks Djemba has potential which is probably why he likes to keep guys like him and Miller.
IMO, buying players now is pointless. The title is out of our hands right now cuz even if we win all our games, it'll be pointless doing so if Chelsea don't slip up. Buying players won't do anything. Instead, we should buy in the summer to prepare for next season. More contract will be negotiated in that period so its easier to steal star players from teams.
We've got 14 games to go and Chelsea still have to play us and Arsenal so if they lose 2 other games out of the remaining 12, we have a chance. I persoanlly think Sir Alex should put out his FULL first team in the second leg in the Carling Cup to build momentum and hopefully start Chelsea's blip.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

If we win all those games (unlikely, I know) we would be in a superb position. Final of the Carling Cup, through to the next rounds of the FA Cup/Champions League, and second in the league.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Smith will be back for tomorrows game which is great. And both sides are expected to play their full teams. Keane is also gonna play so it looking very positive now.
I'm prediciting a 2-0 win for us with goals from Scholes and Rooney.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i'm not so optimistic, i fear a 1-1 draw, which will of course mean Chelski go through on away goals...
