Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Just wanted to say well done to Utd on well and truly kicking our ass at the weekend :) We were shite, we are going down in my opinion :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Giggsy was superb! Just shows hes got alot more to his game than just bursting down the wing.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well our season is finally under way, a good performance against all be it one of the weaker sides in the premiership. The whole midfield played a blinder , scholes and rooney seem to have formed a good understanding of one anothers positions and runs into the box, Giggs and Ronnie both held the ball and took people on. looking forward to this weekend now, My head wants a result for the Arse bandits, but i'd be very happy to see Chelski absolutely pummel them.

Ronaldo didn't celebrate because minutes before Keane and Gary Neville had given him a right bollocking for chipping it over the bar from 3 yards out. Ronaldo looked like he was about to start crying.
A bit later, Keane passed it to Heinze who mis-controlled it, Keane started to bollock Heinze but he was having none of it and started to shout back at Roy in Argentinian or something. Needless to say, Keane shut his fucking mouth.

I remember last season's CL away game with Rangers Keane was giving Giggs some crap because he let the ball go out or something. The camera showed Keane shouting some stuff then when to Giggs who clearly shouted "Fuck off!" at what seemed like the top of his lungs, that had me laughing. The comentator said something like "We don't need an interperter to know what he said".

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I dont want Arsenal to win as they'll gain too much confidence and might go on another unbeaten run and i dont want Chelsea to win for obvious reasons. Ill settle for a draw.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We're gaining good momentum and back to playing some good football,

Yes the saints we're piss poor and we should be beating them, but results have still gotta be earned, us beating the scousers & goons is no good unless we can start putting these other teams to the sword, s'pecially when they come to OT.

Scholes and Rooney have been outstanding of late, Giggs defo looked better, still infuriating but theres defo been an improvement, its as though he's playing for an improved contract or something.......

Funny thing is that Giggsy best mate, Butt and his missus was out with his old teamates recently when asked about life with the barcodes, he said "its okay in newcastle, but.........."

Giggs aint going nowhere!!!

Like I said though, Rooney and Scholes are shit hot at the mo, he's (rooney) never gonna be a ruud type striker but he's already chipping in with his share, but other than his goals his all round play is superb, he defo seems fitter (and trimmer) than his days as a blue nose, his little cameo in the 2nd half says it all about him, hassles a player for the ball skips between two saints players and strokes the ball into the saints half with the outside of his right boot to Bellion, the move ended with giggs shooting from the right and hitting the bar, but still, deep inside his own half, Rooney made it happen.

he is good, we knew straight away when the players had urged Fergie to play him against spurs, instead Fergie held him back and played him against Fenerbache.

Also when asked about the boy wonder (pre his debut) he said there is nothing you can train him to do, its god given.

He will improve on what he's got dont get me wrong and experience will be his best teacher, but his ability now is something else.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yeah, Rooney is looking good. He seems to be controlling his tempmerent (bad spelling I know) too, and channeling it into some great play.

TBH ninja the feckin fuss made about his so called temper was ridiculous, I mean he's been booked twice for England, yeah he had a few incidents at Everton but I've seen no signs of any trouble at OT.

True, mate. He is the perfect player to play behind Ruud, In my opinion. He shoots from outside the box (which Ruud can captalise on with rebounds etc) and is an intelligent play-maker. He is English, too, which suits me, as I would never want to see United turning into a 2nd rate French team, who cannot perform when the chips are down, like spoilt kids (no names mentioned).

spot on fella, some of the imports are class, no doubt, but having an english lad in there for us (same with Smithy) defo makes a difference.

As good as Ronaldinho is, and he is World Class, I doubt whether he would have done it for us on a very cold saturday afternoon.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Rooney and Ronaldo have their critics, though. So many people say they are overrated, but them boys have done things on a pitch that Cruyff and Cantona would have been proud of - some of Ronaldo`s tricks have been sublime. I liked what a pundit said in the Euro`s (I think it was Hansen) by saying that Ronaldo is a penalty waiting to happen, with his super-fast feet. He always has the wing-back and the wingers doubling up on him, which always leaves players like Rooney and Scholes with plenty of room. It alls seems to be working out nicely. I hope the wankers who called for Fergies head 2 months ago are eating their words right now.

ronaldo has got along way to go IMO he's good but compared to the amount of goals that beckham used to score and create, he's falling short.

he must be infuriating to play with, the striker makes a run and ronnie is still waving his foot over the ball, the looks he gets of Ruud remind me of the looks Eric used to give Cole.

But, he has the ability to be one of the best, he's just gotta fill his game with distribution over the needless tricks.

Thats what makes our side so much better than other's. Our players have that british blood running through their veins. Alan Smith is a perfect example of this. Even though he got a nasty cut in his forehead and blood running down his face, he still wanted to finish the game. You wouldn't see the Zidanes or the Ronaldos do that.

And I read in a newspaper (can't remember which one) recently where Smith said that he likes it here so much that he never wants to leave the club.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

that point about ronaldo crossing the ball is important. sometimes i find ronaldo releasing the ball just a second too late which can do a world of difference. i love to watch him break the ankles of his defenders, but when he matures, he'll learn that he's gotta play his position, and that includes assisting the goals with plenty of crosses (albeit he does find time to do that too!)

Sir Alex said on MUTV that Ronaldo promised him atleast 12 goals this season which is why he tries to take chances himself instead of setting up his team mates. Its also why he always looks like he's trying too hard.

Noticed how Ronaldo has scored quite a few for Portugal and not for us?

I found a few pics of old kits

The one we wore in the season we won the CL.

 Nike ripped us off when designing the T90 shirts that everyone uses today!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

good observation. anyhow Sir Alex has opted to bring the side that triumphed over arsenal in the carling cup, than the side that took three points from the saints on the weekend.

United leave experienced stars at home
Manchester United's second string headed out to Turkey for tomorrow night's Champions League dead rubber against Fenerbahce with Darren Fletcher insisting the Red Devils can repeat their momentous 1999 triumph.

With qualification secure and only a position at the top of Group D to fight for, Sir Alex Ferguson opted to take what amounted to his Carling Cup squad to Istanbul.

Only Cristiano Ronaldo of the side that defeated Southampton at the weekend was on board the flight, 20-year-old Fletcher was one of the most experienced players.

'We are looking for a good performance from a young team,' said the Scotland international.

'Our aim is to top the group but overall we feel confident we can win the entire competition.

'We have performed well in Europe this season and while there are obviously some quality sides in there we have to back ourselves.'

Ferguson has already indicated the difference between finishing winners or runners-up in the group is minimal.

Italian giants Juventus and AC Milan could lie in wait if United fail to triumph and Lyon defeat Sparta Prague while Spanish duo Barcelona and Real Madrid could be their next opponents if they maintain their current advantage over the French outfit.

'It is important for our own professional pride to try and win tomorrow but we won't know whether finishing first or second is an advantage until we get the draw,' said Fletcher.

'The main thing is the players on this trip show their potential and prove they are worthy of playing for Manchester United.'

thats worrying, that no matter how we finish, we ll have a potentially tough draw

It ain't called the Champions League for nothing. ;)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

RuneEdge - You can`t remember this kit!??! How long have you supported United? This is my fave shirt of all time, it was the away kit for the 1992/93 season when we first won the Premiership title.

true mate, but i guess you know what i mean. if we come second, we may get the likes of ac milan or juve. big italian clubs. however, if we worked hard for the first place, we may get clubs like barcelona and real madrid... those are the clubs youd expect to get in the semi-finals or something. anyhow, i think this is just the result of an unbalanced group selection

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

So who do you lot want to win in Sunday's all London title decider?

Nah jokin, but seriously your heart might say Chelski but your head should really be supporting the Arse! Thoughts?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Draw!
Anyhow, I think it would be actually good for us to draw tough big-name teams. It would make for some great football and the team would only benifit from it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Arsenal aren't a big threat to us like how Chelsea are so I don't care if Arsenal are still ahead of us by 4 points. Whats important is closing the gap on the top of the table. So an Arsenal win would be the best thing to ask for.
Paddy Crerand agrees with me too. :D

The best draw we could get is against either Werder Bremen, PSV or Dynamo Kyiv. Otherwise, we could be up against the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Inter Milan, etc.
I personally want to see us draw Chelsea. Imagine beating them 4 times in a row. Once in the CL, twice in the Carling Cup and then again in the Premiership.

yeah thats a tough one, maybe a tie is the best solution....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'd rather see United go top of the group so that the best CL games are saved for later on... it kinda sucks seeing big contenders go out earlier.
