also got attendance of 50K during spell in 2nd div, whats ya point...

OT has always been around the 50K capacity, so the supports always been there, (even with some reds being from down south they still make the trip) compare that to the sudden 100% increase goons support and you'll see the definition of glory boys.

How can you say our support is going up 100%, how are you working that out? No matter what you think, we have always been a huge club with massive support, just not as many as you. After all you are the "biggest club in the world" bar none.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The 100% thing is an obvious exaggeration but the support that Arsenal have has definately increased dramatically since the silverware has started to come in. I actually know a few guys who recently started supporting Arsenal.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Guys, I'm in need of some advice.

I ordered a ticket online at manutd.com for the game against spurs on Jan 4 and was successful in the ballot (i'm a OneUnited member). the thing is, rather than head over on my own, i'd like for my brother and dad to come along too, but they'll only do so if they can get tickets (they're not OneUnited members). i know how difficult it is to get hold of them, after all, every single home game is a sell out, but does anyone is it usually possible to get some outside the grounds? (one way or the other). i know the actual tickets ranged from about £21 to £29, but has anyone ever bought one outside the grounds at the last minute and if so, how much were they?
i only ask cos i need to know whether or not to book flights for 1 or for 3.

cheers in advance guys.

No doubt our support has, but my point is football has got more popular generally over the past few years, not just Arsenal.

there'll be a few tickets knocking around mate.

If you get the tram from city center to Ot then you'll be able to get a ticket pretty much as soon as you start walking to the stadium.

Of course touts are gonna charge extra but there are sometimes just "normal" folk selling tickets for face value (or maybe rounded up) i've sold some myself to other reds for face value. Waiting right before kick off is always the best option if you want a good price.

not that much of an exageration, if the library holds about 34K and the new one holds 60Kplus than its nearly a 100% increase.

lol I think you will find its increase of 55.84%. You do the math.

*Figures based on a 38,500 stadium increasing to a 60,000 capacity stadium.

my, what was I thinking, here I am in a United thread guestimating at arsenals capacity.

And I got it wrong, who would have thought.....

On a support related note, its funny today that Wenger said that his reserves will enjoy tonite playing infront of a full house at OT, maybe someone should have told him, that once again, the goons couldnt sell their allocation.

We'll do our part of course, but thats what you do, you support the club regardless who is playing, what comp and what nite.

I spose that what seperates supporters from glory boys.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Funny how we sold out Highbury then in the last round. Oh and pot and kettle mate, Utd has more glory boys than any other club in England.

maybe, but success brings that.

lol if yous have got glory boys after just a couple of decent seasons without any sort of european achievment (well no futher than a 1/4 final EVER) then of course after nearly two decades of dominance what do you expect.

But aslong as they turn up to support the team then I'd take a glory hunter over a supposed "hardcore, supported the team all my life but never go" any day of the week.

Thing is mate, you have thousands of these. I see them in Tesco every week when I am doing my shopping (mainly after a UTd win mind!!). I also work with a few of them. They reckon they are Utd's biggest fan but the truth is they went to Old Trafford once, sometime back in 1985. Just cos they go to to the pub to watch Utd thats enough for them.

well to be honest I could care less about ya shopping trips.

All I know is that tonite we'll have a full house, and i'll be one of them, the goons couldnt sell the tickets so you and thousands of other goons will be "armchair" supporting.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I think the ONLY thing that the goons can be prasied on recently is that the team that Wenger will send out tonite contains maybe some future Arsenal greats, and they do look like they have great potential.

Our team on the other hand is made up of players that were supposed to already breaking into the 1st team but instead look like they will not make the grade.

This is what makes for an interesting game IMO, as both sets of players have things to prove on top of it being a 1/4 final.

of course mate, but I dont need much excuse to watch a match or go pub.

it wont be of 1st team quality but im expecting a decent performance from both teams.

Also a few americans could feature, spector on the bench, rossi to start (fingers crossed) and of course Howard.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its gonna be a great match. Gutted I couldnt get tonight off to go to the game - I had 2 tickets (East Stand) too! :(

good point my man, i will be watching, USA! USA! USA!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

csaunders: It's been replayed in the US? On Foxsportsworld? When?

Anyone else hoping that the match is good, competitive, but there is no violence, just quality football so that whoever loses has nothing to complain about afterwards? THAT would make it a great game.

its on the sentana pub channel only available on closed circuit television at your local pub.....
my local is replaying at 7 tonight, sorry man....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I wonder if there'll be complaints from Wenger about the age of United versus his team...hopefully not. Then again, that is if United can hold out.

Van Persie sounds like he's a lucky boy, wish I could actaully watch these games.. :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We got Chelsea in the Semi-final. If we play the team we played tonight, and Chelsea play their full team, we'll probably get beat.

Same team next round!

So what?

Give them a go!

Well it doesn't matter so much what team Chelsea puts out does it? If Chelsea field their "reserve" team they will still add up to over 100 million pounds.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Glad to see you guys kicked Arsenal out of the game. But we will play with u guys in the next game, I think it will be a hard game to both side and I think the quality of that game must be better than the final.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Liam Miller and Chis Eagles performed well last nite. The passes between them are fantastic.Of all the three def midfielders we had last nite,Miller,Djemba and Klebs...I must say that Miller could be our Roy Keane in the making. He's not one to pull out of tackles, plays simple passes and breaks up play.Djemba could be a better player if he stop giving away possession when he won them in the first place.Kleberson is a world cup winner, but i think the one who won it was his twin brother,if he had one.The only thing i can say about him is...the first brazilian to play for us is the wrong brazilian.HAHAHA.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Yep miller played well and i like him alot, he plays it simple as you said,a good tackler. hopefully he will get as agressive as roy keane in years to come. Van persie lastnite was lucky not to get knocked out, for bringing his dirty habits that he picked up from arsenal's first team. Its very embaressing watching kleberson and djemba!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well played chaps, I guess you just had too much for us in the end. You played well I thought, Eagles looks a good player, and Miller looks like he has the right skills and attitude to suceed. Good luck against Chelsea in the semi, we can't have them winning everything now can we?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I can`t see the team we had out last night taking on Chelsea`s superstars. Not at Stamford Bridge anyhow. Maybe the 2nd leg at Old Trafford will be different.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Kleberson was bought as a bait for ronaldinho to come over to man u. belive this... why else would fergie buy a guy whose wife is just 16? Ronny did not come and now man u are stuck with a so called World Cup winner...
