Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i hope we will win Charlton and i hope silvestre will play cause i seen him injured against newcastle.
and of course most important that wes brown will not play.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

unfortunately with SAF, especially this year, no one will be able to predict with 100% certainty what type of lineup he ll put out. i predict:

-----------------Carroll
Gary-----Ferdy-------Silvestre------Heinze
Ronaldo----Keane-----Scholes-----Giggs
--------------------------Rooney
--------------RVN

thats the lineup i see SAF putting up, nothing special. however, i would rather see

-----------------Carroll
Gary-----Ferdy-------Silvestre------Heinze
Bellion----Fletcher-----Scholes-----Giggs
--------------------------Rooney
--------------Saha

because 1)ronaldo seems to be getting jaded 2) fletch played well against newcastle and 3) because ruud needs a break too, this would be perfect for saha to get a chance to get rolling stats-wise

I agree with your three points, but I wouldn't like Bellion to replace Ronaldo. I would play Fletcher instead (with license to come in field, like he did against Newcastle). And Keane in midfield.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I wouldnt rest Ruud for any game to be honest. How poor were we against Portsmouth and Man City without him? In a way hes had a bit of a rest with the ban hes just served.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ruud just had a 3 match ban. He doesn't need another break.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

the midfield should look like this

fletcher---keane--scholes--giggs

ronaldo is getting greedy and greeddier every single game! his crossing is very poor! and i do not understand manutd tactics during the newcastle game(1st half).. ronaldo always moved to the right and made the left flank empty with heinze was the only one that covered the left flank!

Everytime Ronaldo moved to the right, Rooney was on the left wing so it wasn't a problem. And Fletcher is better in centre midfield which is why it would be best to use him as a replacement for either Scholes or Keane and then use Bellion on the right. Bellion had scored a couple of goals at the start of this season but then hardly ever got a game so it wouldn't be a bad thing to play him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Our strongest, most attacking midfield is:

Ronaldo ------------ Scholes ---------- Keane ------------ Giggs

Simple.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

A lot of our players are being greedy recently, Ronaldo doesn't have much time to look up in between all the tricks but he should be more aware.

you know ninja that looks good, but rooney played on the left in the second half of the newcastle game, and damn he looked good.... giggs has been so inconsistent, so im not sure about him anymore

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Did Rooney even get a cross in from the left flank against Newcastle?
He needs to stay in the middle to help create chances as well as getting the goals, in my opinion.

ummm yeah, he hooked up giggs and scholes with some blistering runs down the flank, he also scored as you know, i think he is good in the middle as well, lets put it this way, it looks like he can play multiple positions..... and not like smith, but differnt, he seems able to adapt quickly, i mean did you see his layoff to scholes, or that chip he had to giggs, but giggs had a bad first touch, it was mighty impressive, and when you have talent like saha and smith on the bench....... here is a way to maximise talent, if saha and ruud dont work out, you move rooney up front, take saha out and bring giggs in, and if ronaldo isnt working out you bring in giggs, give this midfield one half and see how it goes, then change things up if its not working, what do you all think of rooney on the outside?

midfield and up only

--------ruud----------saha-----------

rooney/giggs-----keane/fletch scholes----------ronaldo/giggs

It'd be a waste really, dont get me wrong it can be effective, and its good that we can change systems but it'd be a mistake to have him out there all the time.

We need a left winger really, Giggsy is a legend and im gonna be gutted if/when he quits, but his replacment should already be in place IMO, we missed out on special player in Robben, we've got a very capable left sided player in Djordic (sp) but he's never been given a chance and Ricardson seems to be ahead of him for some reason. Maybe Downing could be the one for us, maybe Luque could be tempted from strapped for cash Deportivo of Vincente from Valencia or move Ronnie out to the left and get a new right winger (who can pass the ball, i'm talking to you Ronaldo!!!!!!).

Either way we need some pace added to the wings.....

i see your point, we didnt pay 33 million for a left winger :), but yeah your right, he shouldnt be a long term replacement for giggs but in the intermim, he could be a nice fill in. Djordic, I have never seen him play, and when i saw richardson, i was impressed. Downing would be sweet, but do you really think boro is going to give up one of there only young players? Vicente would be fantastic... And your right, Ronaldo needs to pass the fucking ball, he is pissing me off, it seems rooney was suffering from the same shit but got his act together against newcastle

Sorry to correct you CS, but Rooney was bought for slightly over £20 million (the media like to bump that up a lot). Of course on top of that there are add-ons related to Man Utd's success (and lets face it, we aren't exactly running away with anything at this minute).

About Robert; I always classed Robert as a bit of a lazy one-hit wonder. And I still stick by that. He is also very moody.

I think we should go for Downing, but McClaren knows us very well and won't let him go cheaply.

like I said its good to have the options, which is good with us, giggs and Ronaldo can swap, Scholes and Rooney can both play from the left (not as much as a winger but in a similar way that Zidane plays from the left) and that sort of movement is always gonna cause defense's problems.

I can see Downing joining us tbh, maybe a swap deal, he's a bright prospect and just we need at the mo.

I know. As soon as I seen 2-0 I knew it would have been Ronaldo. Its strange.

Also, Ruud has just scored for Holland.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

well, whatever, good for ronaldo...

as for the netherlands match, sky sports says cocu and robben have goals but ruud is off for makaay on the 35th minute

Stupid Soccernet had Ruud scoring the first Holland goal. My mistake.

But Ruud limped off with an injury. Hope its not serious.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Of all the spanish players that dived and play to taunt their opponents,I must say that Xabi Alonso and Xavi Hernandez are a class above the rest. They produced a masterclass performance last night.Alonso's a real gem but them scousers already got him,I'd say tha Xavi would be perfect for us to replace Scholes in the future. He has got great vision and passing technique, shoots well and likes to orchastrate flowing football. There were talks of Fergie scouting Xavi before but it never materialised.Joaquin should also be our target I reckoned, plays a lot like our Ronaldo but is better in using the ball and I think is much much faster,do you see how many times he left A.Cole for dead?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Valencia look like they're experiencing a bit of a downfall. So it would be a good time to bid for Vicente. We need either him or Joaquin. Downing is good but I wouldn't say he's good enough to play for us just yet. We need good results and we need them fast so we can't afford to buy potentially good players that we expect to play well in a few years time.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Anyone hear anything about injury status of RVN and Fletcher? I heard fletch didn't play cause he picked up an injury in training, and Ruud limped off? Neither good news...SAF will most likely rest them then...
