Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Because he played for Liverpool, their 'arch' rivals!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

gerd i agree that ince was a great player for utd but to call Keane a poor mans Ince  Keane in his prime (which he is now past sadly) was a far better player in my view
what exactly makes Ince a better player in your view then?

Roo luck boy - Wayne cheats death

Wayne Rooney emerged unscathed after a 23-ton builder's lorry hit his car.
The 19-year-old Manchester United and England striker was able to continue driving to training after his 4x4 Cadillac Escalade was damaged in the collision in Wilmslow, Cheshire yesterday.

A spokesman for Rooney told The Sun: 'We can confirm Wayne was involved in a collision.'

thank fuck

==============================================

anyhow, on to some news about tonights carling cup fixture against the in form crystal palace.

we really need to use these non-league matches to take our minds off of our dismal start to this campaign. im sure saha is going to get the start, but with whom? as the article above says, rooney may have a slight niggle and ruud is still suspended(?). at any rate, united have a date at st. james' park in just four days, soo a rest here would mean there's more to be expected on the weekend.

sky sports also hinted at a start for italian prodigy, but american born, giuseppe rossi after seeing ex-parma youngster arturo lupoli star in the arsenal win over everton just yesterday.

john oshea and wes brown are favoured to anchor the united defense while run outs for darren fletcher, phil neville, eric djemba djemba, kleberson, liam miller, quinton fortune and tim howard are to be expected.

news from palace are that sorondo is out with a hamstring injury while premier league's second highest golscorer andy johnson is out with a bad hip. impressive greek, vassilis lakis will be expected to start.

the theatre of dreams will want gols-a-plenty tonight.

cmon united!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

stiffler, i simply don't like Keane, so i certainly am subjective...
loz, Ince came back to England for his kid (he would have like to stay at Inter and Moratti wanted him to stay) and Man Utd had the first choice for Ince...they never wanted him back in the first place. Then he had the chance to play for a big club like Liverpool. He would have been daft to turn that down...
If that's the only reason why Ince is hated by (some) Utd fans, well that's very disappointing...
I guess one should bever talk about Dennis Law aswell, he played for Man City and was the man who scored the goal that got Man Utd relegated in the seventies...(it was after that relegation that i really became a fan...perhaps if they relagate again i would become a big fan again...).
Well, to me Ince is a legend who should be adored round Old Trafford...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I prefer Howard over Carroll to be honest. But since Carroll is doing pretty well these days, I can't complain. I think Fergie dropped Howard too soon, though. He should've been given a few more chances.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I really hope Rossi plays tonight. He has been consistantly scoring goals for our reserves (some belters too), so he should have a decent game. The only thing I'm worried about is if Fergie plays Rossi up with Bellion. Both strikers are a bit lightweight and may get marshalled quite easily by Palace's defence.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We're 1-0 up. Saha.

EDIT: 2-0 now. Richardson. :D

The first team that is drawn is automatically the home team.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

well, its gonna be the battle between two of the better youth teams to play in the carling cup no? just looking at the match stats: united and the arse monkeys seem to be the only two sides who seem to field the younger, non starters right?

whatever happens, gonna be a great 90 minutes

but for now, its all about this sunday's bout at st james', looking forward to it

Didn't see many young players in your lineup against Palace. There was no-one under 20 in your starting eleven. In fact there were 9 full internationals in that lineup, ridiculous to call it a youth team.

Hahahahaha, our youth team is filled with potentials, the team that participated in the Carling Cup is our RESERVES Team....our strength in-depth is unmatched by any team, really.

Umm yeah. That's exactly what I'm saying, it was your reserves and not your youths.

As for the second part: lol
Chelsea obviously have more strength in depth, a lot of those players in your second string may be well recognised names but are pretty crap players. O'Shea, Djemba, Kleberson, Fletcher and Bellion are really shit imo, and the rest aren't much better. You may not know much about our youngsters but they beat two teams (who were at pretty much full strength) your first team couldn't beat.

rigtht our first team beat arsenal....... 2-0, i think that entitles us to be able to beat anyone

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You know what would make my day? Its 0-0 and only 10 mins to go in the ManU-Arsenal game and Rossi comes on and scores one of his wonder goals and wins the game.
I think he only got about 5 mins to play yesterday.

Portsmouth? ;)
Beating Arsenal means that we SHOULD be beating Portsmouth. It doesn't mean we will be. We're just not playing to our potential as often as we should.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Arsenal aren't going through a good time either so I'm ok.

bloody, i was trying to say reserves the entire time... soz

anyway, what do you lot think of our chances of retaining the services of roy carroll?

he has rejected a deal that could extend his future at OT because he did not want to be starting on the bench. ironically, he is saying this as he strides for his 11th consecutive start for the red devils.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I dont think thats strictly true. It was only a 1 year deal he was offered, so he cant have felt all the confidence was placed in him with that kind of short term deal!?!

maybe timmy howard is in the long term plans of sir alex

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

well CS? what do you think? tbh, i cant really choose one of the two: on form, clearly carroll would be my first choice, but for long term, timmy seems like the better choice.

hopefully this golkeeping crisis can be resolved quickly

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The latest player to be linked with us for a move in January,Emre Belozoglu of Internazionale.Apparently Milan are also interested in signing him but he wouldnt want to play for his archrivals, would he? He would be great in centermidfield,if we dont have Miller,Djemba,Kleberson and Flecther already waiting on the wings. He is not a leftsided midfielder anyways unlike stated in the skysport article.I my opinion we should get Santiago Solari, did you guys see the two goals he scored for Madrid in their last game??? Supreme skills in freekick taking, not to mention,he scores a lot too, coming off from the bench.
