Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

This result proves that we are still good in europe, hell,we've scored more goals in europe than in the Premiership! thats twelve goals now and 5 conceded in the champions league.Amazing Ruud Van Nistlerooy,41 goals in 45 games in europe gawddammniittt!! Beat that!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

 wow, double save by carroll...

RUUUUUUUUUUUD!!!!!!!! woooooo!!! like i said earlier, CL in OT is really where the magic's at! cant wait for the Lyon return match at home, it's really going down to the wire to see who comes out our group tops!

ruud showed once again what he's capable of when it really counts, and its good too see run outs for liam miller and wes brown. scholes had a great run and unfortunately he was brought down, i was really looking forward to a scholesy special...

anyhow 8 points now, 2 behind lyon with our next match on the 23rd against the french at HOME!

Manchester United is pleased to announce that the club has agreed terms with Wes Brown on a new contract that will keep him at the club at least until the end of June, 2008.

Sir Alex Ferguson said: “We are all delighted by the news. Over the last few weeks there has been a great deal of uncertainty and that has been a worry. I have known Wes since he was 13 years old and have watched and seen him grow into a splendid young man.

"I couldn’t bear to lose him, I didn’t want to lose him. I am thrilled that Wes has decided to commit his future here and I hope that he will enjoy his career at Manchester United."

Wes Brown said: “I’ve always wanted to stay at Manchester United, I’ve grown up here, I’ve developed my career here and I’m delighted to be staying. United is the best club in the world and I want to continue being a part of that.

"I am looking forward to winning more trophies and competing in the best tournaments."

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Good to hear Wes has signed, just need Carrol to put pen to paper now and we'll have abit more stability.

Not a bad game last nite, Sparta we're up for it and could have had a few goals, going forward we look better, Ruud is some finisher, yeah he aint as graceful as Henry but he's up for it against any team any competition, I mean 35 in 36 CL games is something else, shame he's out for the derby, but I fancy us smashing them anyway....

Sparta actually scored the best goal of the night and Poborsky got a good reception, and the sparta fans we're funny as fuck, all in all it was a good nite we needed the points and we got em' the lyon game is gonna be a tough one but its someting we've gotta deal with....

Bring on the berty's!!!!

thats including his PSV goals, for United (like I said!!) is 35 in 36.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Great match last night, me and the missus had a great night at Old Trafford - Because I was sitting in the East Stand, I couldn`t make out what happened for Ruud`s 3rd goal, but was chuffed anyhow! Carrol impressed me last night, made some great saves - we needed the 3 points, we got them, well done United!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's official, Mutu received a 7-month ban for failing a drugs test. Great consistency with those punishments FA. So your lesson to Rio is that next time, take drugs and you'll get a lesser sentence!

Grrr...

Mutu got tried on having taken a recreational drug, not performance enhancing, which is obviously worse. Rio got the punishment he did as it is basically the same as saying he HAS taken performance enhancing drugs . . .

Anyway, Wes Brown has agreed a new 2 and a half year contract.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

glad wes brown signed a new contract :D , hopefully Carroll will follow suit - he is looking a cracking keeper to be fair and to lose him on a 'free' would be silly imo

what is the likelyhood of us making any new signings in the jan window?
have we blown all of our money on Rooney? i am sure i heard this somewhere
was just wondering because i really think we should go and try and get Downing of boro' - he seems an ideal long term replacement for giggsy

I HATE INJUSTICE!! FA ARE SCUM.
What are you on about? Rio missed his test and COULD have been covering up the fact he'd been taking performance enhancing drugs, which carriesa max 2 year ban, so imo, he got off lightly!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

After Rio's appeal the FA ruled that they believed that he hadn't taken any drugs and was guilty of only missing a test but his ban was still not reduced.

That stat alone must frighten defenders. Its just incredible.

Anyone think Wes should be given the spot in the best 11 ahead of Silvestre? Wes played better than Rio in the last game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i think wes should be given a good run in the team now
he finally seems fit and with him signing his contract extension he should be full of confidence
i'd like to see him try and form a good defensive partnership with Rio

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

doesnt matter to me, as long as two of them three (wes rio and silvestre) are able to hold off the other team's strikers, then it doesnt matter who it is

Yes, but he COULD have taken drugs and may have missed the ban because of this. Its not about he DIDNT take anything, they banned him for missing the test, which has a punishment in itself.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

It's Bollox if it was Roy Keane who had been found guilty of sniffing Colombian Dancing powder he would have had the book thrown at him and been given the maximum sentence possible, Mutu' 7 month ban makes Rio's 8 month ban look just like it was , a fucking joke.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Mutu's ban is a joke in all honesty. loz, Mutu is getting 7 months for taking drugs but Rio got 8 months for missing a test and they couldn't even prove he took them. What are YOU on about?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Biggest game of our season on Sunday, and other than a cup final, derby weekends are my favourite weekend.

If for some bizzare reason we let that shower of shite win at OT then I will have to go underground, probley 6 feet cos my life will be hell.

As usual I fancy a win at OT but you never know.

So c'mon Reds!!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

cant wait!

vann, what do you reckon the starting 11 to be?

All we have to do is take our chances. These past few weeks we've been getting on top of teams without killing them off (even in the Sparta game it happened). Against City we WILL get chances (they ain't the best at defending) we just need to take them.

If we do beat them, what are the odds of Keegan resigning after the game? ;)
