Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

This game today is going to be complicated to predict. Everytime I think United are going to go and thrash a team they go and get a suprised defeat or draw. There are so many examples of this this season. I pray we hammer them, but at the moment you can never tell.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

First half just ended 0-0. I think we can thank Arsene Wenger or maybe more directly Rooney for not havin a penalty in the first few minutes. The pressure on Graham Poll not to give is clearly ruling the day, as the second with Saha WAS a penalty, no second way around it. Defender is facing away from the ball right at Saha, pulls him down preventing getting anything on the shot. Poll was 15 feet away looking, can't understand that man. Other than that, typical united. City will probably win this game, with 2 shots on goal, vs. United's 20 or so, because they just cannot put the ball into the net.

I think i have an idea of what the problem is. Stop playing scholes as a CMF, move him up to OMF. Stop having 2 wingers, they spread play too much, and Alan Smith hasn't looked like he has a hope in hell of getting on crosses...this half anyway. Maybe with Ruud it makes sense to just constantly knock balls in ffrom the sides, but we've had 0 attacks up the middle, and I really think thats why we can't score. Scholes, ronaldo, Smith, Saha, even Keano can shoot if a ball ricoches out to them, but since united play so wide, there's never anyone around for the easy shots. James has looked a real liablity in goal, but we've had no-one to put the ball into the net. Hopefully Rooney and Giggsy will come and make the difference.

Sick of watching us dominate and see no reward.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

And that's about that then. I say give up in the premiership, let's have a run at UEFA. And hopefully next year we'll make it into the UEFA CUP. If United can't beat a team that comes only to defend, at Old Trafford, then who are they really?

Say what you will, poor decisions abotu penalties, poor offside calls (they should really introduce some kind of electronic gizmo, its lame and getting really old. Just awful playing, dissapointment all around, no great chances really. I don't think that they have any confidance. Just poor, poor, un-united performance. Who can we blame now?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

No ones to blame(naybe saha) nah we should have won,we were the better team all round and we did create some good chances. The one thing is our play becomes to predictable when we play it out all the time to the wingers,we have to play more direct mixing the flow in the centre.

Im really gutted that we have failed to captailize on arsenal droppin points in the last two games, but 11 points isnt the end and i wouldnt give up hope just yet as it is still only november.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We didn't play BAD. Yes we failed to score yet again, but I was pleased with our overall performance today. Many people will say our forwards played poor, but I actually think Saha, Smith (until he stupidly got sent off) and Rooney played quite well. Saha especially looked very bright.

It was wave after wave of constant attack on City's goal (literally). I can't remember City having a sustained amount of possession.

I guess we should give it up for City's defending (although sometimes lucky).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

can anybody tell me why giggs and rooney werer left off the starting 11? im absa-fuckin-lutely fuming right now. despicable

I would assume that it was to rest them.

To be honest, I'm no THAT angry at today's result. Yes it was a poor result, but it was only our finishing. We created a lot of chances (Scholes played really well until he went off injured). Smith and Saha played well together. We just could not SCORE!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nyeh, it was Smith's first time sent off for Man U, stupid but what can you do at least he seemed to care. Although I think he got really frustrated because people kept playing balls across and he just couldn't jump high enough to even have a chance. I believe the commentators also said it was his first booking, which would be impressive.

actually he's only been booked in the prem twice in 2004 - but both cards were today :|

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i dont know, i just think we ve ran out of excuses to be honest. we lost, straight up. yes we got a point, but at the end of the day, we lost our chance to catch up. i dont like to be optimistic, but our CL play has got to be miles better than our prem results

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its been really a frustrating season for us.I say its over,we only have to do well in the Champions League now to really save our season...I mean when was the last time you see Everton,Bolton and Boro in front of us with 1/3rd of the season gone? The only savior I can see coming for United is a catalyst player in January.I dont know who he is,where hes from but if he's available,we got to get him.Its the playmaker that we lack, someone who can translate all those passes from midfield to the forwards. If the derby game were to be a boxing match,we'd won by blow counts, sadly this is football and we end up empty handed again, darn.

That pretty much sums up our season. We look more likely to win the CL than the premiership.
And that playmaker we're always talking about, will we ever find him? Theres rumours that if Figo doesn't sign for Madrid by December, he'll join us but thats not what we need right now is it?

Dude,I'd welcome Luis Figo with open arms,he would be brilliant in the hole position and plus,he can really guide Cristiano to fulfill his potential. If Teddy Sheringham can make miracles happen within a short season,I dont see why Luis Figo at his prime cant do the same.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Now that I think about it, Figo would give us an extra winger so that we can rest Ronaldo and a new freekick taker. But we'll have to wait till next season if we want him for free.
If we're gonna buy someone, then we’ll have to sell a few players for the money cuz Rooney took up all out transfer budget. I suggest we sell (the usual) Kleberson and Djemba and send Miller on a loan to another premiership club. We already have Phil Neville, Fletcher, Fortune and Bellion who are great players and they don’t even make the bench for some strange reason.
United are paying too much on transfers and wages for players that are completely useless and bring nothing to the team especially in midfield where we have about 12 players when realistically we should only keep 8 excluding Rooney and Smith who can also play there.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Worst derby in years IMO.

Sums up our season really, city defended well but we looked pretty one dimensional, attacking wise we've looked poor for over a season, ive no doubts we'll find our feet (someone is due a mauling!!).

So its on to palace in the cup, and a big CL game next week with a trip to St James inbetween, hopefully some good results there will cheer us up!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We've got Palace next in the cup. I'm pretty sure Smith is banned straight away, right? I would also expect Fergie not to play Ruud. Do you think he would rest Saha too? That means its a choice between Blake, Bellion and...hopefully, Rossi up front.

Now Palace will probably go into the game full of confidence (after their draw with Arsenal). The good thing is that its at Old Trafford. So at some point in the game we're going to get chances.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Its zany, but I'd love to see this formation:
--------------------Carroll-----------------------
G.Neville -- Rio -- Silvestre/O'Shea -- Heinze
-------------------Keano------------------------
---------Scholes--------------------------------
---------------------------------Giggs----------
---------Ronaldo------------Rooney/Saha/Smith
--------------------RVN-------------------------

i really want to see Ronaldo move in a bit, he can shoot pretty well, his crosses really aren't that great, and if he was int eh middle running past players would actually be fruitful, instead of just leaving him time to get int he corner. Plus it woudl leave the option of going outside, and provide a more central attack. Cause at the moment, we have no central attacking at all.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

seeing as how our starting 11 against crewe from a fortnight ago only featured oshea, saha and smith from your talented lineup, i dont see fergie will do the same again.

------------------Howard---------------------
Bardsley----Spector----O'Shea----???????
------------Miller------------------------------
------------------------Kleber-----------------
---Fletcher------------------------Richardson
--------------------------Blake----------------
----------------Saha--------------------------

would be my preference

CMON UNITED!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

aah my mistake... but still, does that lineup look reasonable against a fired up palace side? maybe we should keep the back four?

it would be just a delight to see sylvain ebanks-blake and giuseppe rossi to earn a starting position... but a win at any cost is the most desirable result

I just checked out the UEFA site and Gerard Pique is listed in the squad. Do you think he'll get a game?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Guys, i have a question for you.
By now you will now that i have been a Man Utd for more than 20 year (not anymore but i still like Man Utd a lot). Since i'm Belgian i actually never went to matches at Old Trafford. So when i read an interview with Paul Ince in 4-4-2 i was flabbergasted that he receives a lot of stick from Man Utd supportes when he plays at Old Trafford. In my opinion Paul Ince is one of the best United players ever (i will shock people, and even Ince himself would not agree, but imho Keane is a poor man's Ince), why can't he have the approriate respect from Man Utd's fans???? It's surely not because he went to Inter Milan because it was Fergusons decision to let Ince go in favour of the upcoming Butt (who turned out to be a mere shadow of Ince)???
I know that Ince doesn't like Ferguson (like other players he knows that Ferguson isn't the big manager), what happened between Ince and Ferguson??? Is that the reason???
Thanks in advance...
