Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

what goes on in SAF's head will continue to bewilder me.

as for contracts, i searched it up, and my findings have shown me only this

basically, it says that carroll has replaced howard as no.1 for united for a bit, and that he hopes to get a renewed contract

hopefully they ll both get new ones

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

thanks for that :D
i really rate Wes and Carroll hope they do sign, would be a shame to lose them 'on a free'

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

its a shame to lose anybody on a free. all these players who on the roster now have once done something for manchester united, thats why they cant possibly leave the club for nothing, they are/were all worth something to us at one time.

now if we can only get oshea to start getting back in form...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

he likes to drop points to weaker side.. and then hope to win all 3 pts on a stronger and more difficult side... funny tactic..

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

What the hell is wrong with us? We have such a great squad of players in every position. We have 2 great keepers, at least 6 great defenders, tons of midfielders (most of which are world class), and 4 world class strikers. People would be wondering, what could go wrong? I’ll tell you what’s wrong. It’s all Fergie’s fault. He maybe good at helping players reach their potential but when picking his first 11, he’s completely lost it. I know most people get a lot of stick for criticizing SAF simply because he brought so much success therefore he must always be right. Well he’s wrong. I just don’t understand his why he picks the players that he does when he has great replacements on the bench?
First of all, why were we playing 3 centre mids with one winger? And when we brought Ronaldo on, instead of playing 2 wingers, why did we take off Giggs? That just made the problem worse cuz Ronaldo can’t cross well with his left foot. Another thing that bugs me so much is that why do we play guys like Kleberson and Djemba-Djemba (No one seems to like them) when Phil Neville and Fletcher, who are much better players, are not even making the bench? Why tinker with players that don’t bring anything to the team when you have players who have proven themselves?
I remember the years when guys like Beckham, Scholes and Butt first made the full team at 18. Looking at the crop of players we have now, I don’t think we’ll see something like that again. (Except Rooney, Ronaldo and the rest of the reserves)

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

To be really honest and put loyalty aside for a second,if I'm Arsene Wenger,I will not have problems playing against us this weekend.Ruud and Rooney are wayyy working too hard to get supplies off midfield. Now I wish Rooney hadnt scored that hattrick on his CL debut as he now undoubtly set himself a high benchmark and pundits will always refer and compare all his performances based on that debut game.I hope Fergie will get the lads fired up for this weekend. Its form aside for this game as pride and passion will take over and hopefully we will prevail.C'mon United...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I feel we play too much route-one football at times. Last night whenever Heinze or G.Neville got the ball they would hoof it up the Ruud to flick on. We have the players to pass teams out of the game, yet we seem to like whacking it up to Ruud.

When Miller came in field halfway through the second half, I think he did well. His passing was crisp and his awareness was good. He, dare I say it, looked a bit like Roy Keane. Out wide however, like Fletcher, he was pretty poor.

Overall, I think last night some players had their minds on the Arsenal game (although that shouldn't be an excuse).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Indeed we are playing too much route-one football which becomes too predictable and our forwards have to feed off scraps. I think it works for us in champions league but EPL we need to play flowing on the ground football the way we use to play a couple seasons bk.

Im now left guessing who fergie will play for each match but i know our best players will be picked against arsenal. it really is a must win for us or maybe a draw is ok but that aint exciting nor will it change anything, for me its all or nothing. I agree miller has a keane build to him but he needs to play in defensive midfield, but for some odd reason fegie prefers to choose oshea or djemba djemba who niether deserve their place.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Our team for Sunday should be (in my opinion):

GK: Carroll
DR: G.Neville
DL: Heinze
DC: Rio
DC: Silvestre
MR: Ronaldo
ML: Giggs
MC: Keane
MC: Scholes
FW: Smith
FW: Ruud

With Rooney and Saha to come off the bench.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

hm..., i would still use smith as a super sub. we could always consider taking scholes or keano off in the latter stages for rooney to come back to be centre half so that either smith or saha could slot in at the front.

other than that, the rest of the pitch should be littered with talent like that line-up exudes. the four in the back should never be tampered with, and same goes for the midfield, oshea in the midfield  unbelievable

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I still say what we need is finishing, which'll come from confidence. Had decent chances yesterday, should have taken a couple. I mean, come on, Arsenal drew 2-2 today with 2 shots on goal until the final minute! They scored with practically their only two shots! Ruud needs to start being his usual 'give him the tiniest glimmer of a goal and he'll miraculously find it' because the midfield aren't giving many clear cut chances...

And Ronaldo needs one goal, to get him out of this slump, then I think he'll be prolific...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i agree with ryan, each player just needs one, that way he'll know his capability... only problem, bloody ronaldo scored a cracker midweek for portugal, i hardly think there should be much difference

what are you talking about ronaldo is a a winger and they are not usually prolific...

Scored 2 for Portugal. Why can't he do the same for us? He has scored more for his country than for his club.

And I would start Rooney and Saha up front instead of Ruud and Smith.
Both Rooney and Saha have flair and Saha is looking very sharp ever since his return. IMO, he's looking like the best out of the 4 forwards.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

For our must win game against the Gooners,I'd start with Smith and Ruud as forwards.Ruud for that constant threat that he always gives us and Smith for the tenacity to ruffle Toure and Campbell.I'd throw in Rooney or Saha once the goons backline have had enough.I'd start Ronaldo,Giggs,Keano and Scholes in midfield, possibly the strongest combination we have and the now default defence in G.Nev,Rio,Silvestre and Heinze.I'd still stick with Carroll in goal as hes been performing well for the matches he played since Howard got dropped. We must and we shall win this game at OT ala vs Pool. This game will step it up a notch in the title race in our favour.C'mon United.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The most frustrating thing about this game is that we've defo got the players to beat and once again last nite they looked nowt special.

Its whether or not it clicks for us cos whatever is causing it, we look way too hesitant when going forward, whether its a confidence thing im not sure but the team should be starting to take shape now, and we're all waiting.

Like I said I dont buy into the arsenal hype, it could be a kickstart to the season, it could be the final nail.

Hopefully the arsenal players wont wind us up like last year, dont wanna see goons getting slapped up and down Sir Mat Busby way again!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Apparently there is a rumour going around that Paul Scholes has cancer.

Lets hope it stays a rumour and isn't true. :(

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

ah we should play smith for the fire in the belly he holds,so if Lauren gets too hyped up again we got the fire players to back people up like smith, rooney and also heinze looks a bit like a fighter lol. Ever since Keano calmed down our team hasnt had that same fire. I don t know about the rest of you but im hoping for some firey tempers to kick off tomorrow. i mean how exciting was the match at OT last year coz of the events which imo arsenal players handled our players like they were little boys while we had keane(former fighter) trying to calm things down.

that would be horrible, hopefully nothing life ending...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'm pretty sure the rumour popped up quite awhile ago. I checked Google for news and a few footie forums (which I don't really know about) had the rumour.

I would think the media would have had a sniff at it if it was true. So hopefully it was just a sick rumour.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Why would you post that? Its like saying, I have this piece of news which you'd love to know, and I'm not telling you. And I hope its not awful, figure perhaps its Howard, as he isn't even playing reserves.

But just a guess

Howard also sprung to my mind too. As long as it isn't our top young players (Rooney, Ronaldo), our main defender (Rio) and our main forward (Ruud). Though I hope it isn't Howard either (or any of our players).
