thats a good hing about international weekends, you get to see a few players that maybe dont feature too much at club level but are very importan to their national teams.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

tbh ive seen more of miller than fletcher this season

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You should buy Scott Parker. He'd be a very good signing and I reckon Chelsea might sell for a decent price in January.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I suggest someone older and experienced in midfield. THats what we need right now.

if theres still any left, im sure they are on the bolton's shortlist.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

runeedge: miller was supposed to be the next big thing to come out of parkhead, which was why there was soo much hype around him. now that hes at OT however, hes been dwarfed, albeit by all but fletcher :( who, imo, is awesome in the middle

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

saha! back! played well apparently against birmingham in a reserves match that saw the red devils lose 3-2. it seems the frenchman's back in form

what now? 4 strikers? nurture one of them (smith/rooney) to be a new scholes?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

As far as looks go, Rooney is certainly ugly enough to be the new Schole. :D

if only we didn't sell nicky butt.
Aww come on...leave the what ifs alone...Nicky is world class and he cant be stuck at the bench forever,so it was the best decision to let him leave for Newcastle. He can still flourish for England.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

and speaking of which, man united players on the england 11: rio, gary, rooney and smith

rio: hes a bloody wall, what more can i say

gary: he had his moments with giggsy, which was a good thing, still thought he, lampard and nicky started commiting useless fouls

ROOney: INCREDIBLE! what a match he had, hit the upright, stung the golkeepers hand several times, set up owen, got himself involved... oh what a night for him. also want to point out: he picked up the ball from the middle alot, which got him involved, after he got the ball, he always looked to go for gol!

smith: was on for only a little bit, so cant say much about him

good to see ex-united players do well too, nicky and becks both were phenomenal

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I was wondering, would it be a good idea to put Heinze in the center with Rio and put Silvestre on the left? I bet that would work much better.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

dont know, but from recent form, mikael is liking rio's return and enjoys it in the middle there. where did heinze play in the copa america? wingback or centerback?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Heinze played centerback in Copa America and did a great job there. I thought Silvestre does a better job as a left back than Heinze so they should swap roles and see how it works out.

Same at the olympics, and not one goal was conceeded.

I think cos one of the problems in defense is seen as a comunication problem, putting a non english speakin CB isnt gonna help, but I defo think Heinze is a better CB than Silvestre.

United supporters really like this guy, we always like this sorts of player, no nonsense, no frills and will do you if he gets the chance lol

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

soo vann you think keeping him outside would be better than sticking him next to rio? cuz i think silvestre is making a come back in the middle

i read in an issue of USW that fergie thinks that heinze is going to adapt quickly and he trusts that the argentinian will pick up the language no problem (like he did french, with PSG)

Thats most likely why.
What do you think the team will be that faces Crewe in the League Cup?
I'm hoping Rossi plays.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

When's our League Cup match?
I've watched most Copa America, and Heinze is an awesome CB. But to be honest, it's great having a LB who's an awesome defender. In the last games Heinze did some amazing defending.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not sure when it is but it'll most likely not be covered on TV except on MUTV who said they'll show the full game on the same day at midnight (and then repeated as usual).

What are your thoughts on Brown and Carroll not signing a new contract? They both expire at the end of this season and Brown (I think) has already rejected a new one.

They can go to be honest!

Brown is far to injury prone and Carroll we dont need if we go after Green or Van der Sar!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

green? van der sar? where are these news/speculations coming from?

either of those would be great replacements for carroll

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Green, Van Der Sar and Jaaskalainen(sp?) have all been linked with us recently.
I'd prefer Van Der Sar but then what happens to Howard? I don't think either wants to sit on the bench.

Howard only has himself 2 blame!

Van Der Sar is a free transfer at the end of the season!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

But Howard is only gonna get better if he plays games.

my ass he does.
Silvestre is just as much to blame........ probably more, but alex was not going to blame one of his defenders who he could not at the time replace anyways........

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You also have to remember that Howard hasn't had a game since Rio came back.
Howard would be so much better and more confident with Rio in front of him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

From an interview with Ranieri:

"Abramovich, for Ranieri, is "very mysterious. He is hard to know but he was very generous to me." In one of his few talkative moments, Abramovich told Ranieri he had fallen in love with football after watching Real Madrid defeat Manchester United 5-3 in an extraordinary, if unstructured, Champions League encounter the previous season. Out of such naivety, coupled with unlimited money, Abramovich "asks simple questions. 'Who is the best manager in England?' They tell him Eriksson. He says: 'I want Eriksson.' He then asks: 'Who is the best in marketing?' Someone says: 'Peter Kenyon.' So Roman says: 'I want Kenyon.'"

Ranieri's contempt for Kenyon is plain. "I think Roman is a strong man. Kenyon is different. He is not a fantastic person."

The Italian looks at me gravely before, unable to help himself, he twinkles again. "Oh Peter Kenyon! He gave me fantastic emotion! When he came the atmosphere outside the dressing room changed. Kenyon did this with one interview. Roman never said: 'Claudio, you must win to survive.' Kenyon said that as soon as he arrives. He was not speaking for Roman. This was just a reflection of Kenyon. So people say: 'Who do we like? Ranieri or Kenyon?' This is great for me. It is no contest. Suddenly everyone is with me. The whole nation is with me. Thank you Peter Kenyon!"

After Chelsea beat Arsenal in an emotional Champions League quarter-final, Ranieri and Abramovich hugged in delight. "I was happy to share this with Roman. But I could not embrace Kenyon. A handshake is all I give him. I made a point of that. You see, I wanted to finish my job at Chelsea. I start with the foundation and then the first floor and second floor before we reach the roof garden."

Ranieri might have made it to the second floor at Stamford Bridge but it is "the special one", Mourinho, who now tends to the blue "roof garden" with his glinting pruning shears and frugal caution. Distancing himself from his Portuguese replacement by stressing his overwhelming preference for the footballing philosophy of Arsène Wenger and the raw passion of Sir Alex Ferguson, Ranieri sidesteps comparisons between his tinkering Chelsea and the pragmatic model being shaped by Mourinho. "I only see 10 minutes of their first match against Manchester United. I'm living in a hotel in Valencia and they don't trust me to watch football. I switch on my TV and there is no football. There is golf! There is a Japanese channel! But no football.Unbelievable! I must move out soon...

but something special happened in England. I understood it when we played our last away match - at Manchester United. Both at the beginning, when I was walking to the bench, and then again at the end the Manchester fans applaud me with real emotion. This is amazing. How the English people link with me is incredible. It was even more powerful in my last game at Chelsea. I could feel it so strongly."

Ranieri looks down in wonder. And then, again, he laughs softly in the city he lost. "I don't think Peter Kenyon will ever know that feeling ..."

Quality!
