Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

From my point of view,Boro will always be one of our bogey teams. It is a well known fact that Man United will struggle playing against a 5 man midfield or a 5 man defence with wingbacks. This goes down only too well with Steve McLaren as he knows us inside out.Credits to Southgate,Mendieta and Boateng for having a stormer of a game.I thought Ruud looked a lil tired or jaded should I say.Ronaldo was superb as always but I felt he was trying too hard at times, greedy is not the word.Rooney looked good, finding his game back, working hard everytime. He looked sublime against Fenerbache because its all down to the pace of the game,in the premiership, you have absolutely no time, its an adrenaline rush throughout.Rooney should be back to his best in no time.Hats off the the forgetten hero of our season,Smithy, wonderful spring and header for the equaliser.Ryan Giggs didnt do enough,O'Shea shouldnt play in midfield and poor sense of awareness and marking by G.Neville for the Boro goal,to wrap things up.4th in the premiership and battling on.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

What worried me about that game was that we played our toughest team excluding Scholes and Howard AND we were playing against a weak Boro team that had a couple of 18 year old making their first premiership starts.

We really should have won that one.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well teams are always gonna pack the midfield when they play us cos they are so shit scared of being hammered, its nothing new, usually we would overcome it.

Yes it was pretty much our strongest team, we just looked abit rusty, it happens im still confident we are gonna do well this year.

O'Shea in midfield?? WTF?? Where's Nicky Butt?? Oh I remember, purple nose sold him didn't he?Opps...
O'Shea is a cover for Scholes. And Nicky Butt wanted first team football. What else can you do other than selling him?

Sorry mate but how is sheasy cover for Scholes.

Scholes is the one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe.

Sheasy is a once promising now lazy center half who prefers boozy nites out to preparing for games.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Still havent answered my question though, why is O'Shea there instead of Phil Nev, he must be fummin!!!

I never said he was a good cover. But he's obviously only playing where he is until Scholes comes back.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

THE PRESSURE REALLY is on Arsenal to win the Champions League this year. I was in London with my Gooner mates on the weekend, and they really want the trophy. We first won the title in the 92-93 season, it took us a few seasons to win the Champions League, as you all know. Well, the Gooners are on the same time-span now since winning their first Premiership title, and HAVE to prove themselves season, otherwise they will get the same critics they get EVERY year. My gooner mates dont reckon Arsenal cut it in Europe, after 2 poor openers (Arsenal are capable of hammering PSV and Rosenborg, lets be honest) so the heat is on at Highbury - they HAVE to prove their pundits wrong in Europe this season, and they HAVE to make the semi-finals at least . . . .

LOL - You just copied and pasted this post into the Arsenal thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

another zico-esque post then gravedigger? ;)

anyhow, loz, to answer your question, im sure p neville's training must have slipped because his presence on the england sub's bench is now being called a "recall". SAF and SGE both know that his performance has been dropping, be it from lack of exposure or poor training.

jason: scholes is out with his hamstring injury, as he has a hammy injury plaguing him for a while now (its one of those reoccuring things, feckin hamstrings)

and i agree with rafau, even kleber's short glimpses of spectacular football is much more desirable than sheasy's laziness

Kleberson or Fletcher or anyother midfielder for that matter would be than O'Shea in midfield. Some times I can't understand Fergie.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

saf tried p.neville in that position and he did exceptionally well last sesaon. im thinking hes trying to do the same with oshea this season

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Didn't Oshea play in that position when Keane was out 2 seasons ago?

But the big question is why try it with O'Shea when we already know that Phil Neville can do the job?
And at what point are we supposed to feel its right to bring Howard back? I feel Howard would have saved some of the goals that Carroll let it recently.

Exactly, with many options I don't know why he choose to John O'Shea when he has other position.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I can't believe Fletcher hasn't been given a chance. He's only played about 1 game up to now and he was fantastic in centre-mid last season. I'm sure he'll get his fair share soon enough.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

You guys keep saying "We should play Neville, Fletcher etc" but Fergie knows best, he seems them in training every day. Fletchers and Nevilles performance might not be up-to-par at the moment on the training ground, even though I really rate them players in the middle of the park.

He'll get his chance, he's rated highly at the club, its just fitness problems, abit like Miller, Fergie wants to see an improvement on that side.

But its early days, like Fergie said, no need to panic we've got along way to go!
