Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Very good player obviously but you cannot go praising him on tonights performance as a complete star yet. He still needs to mature and we will see if he's consistant enough. I do agree with kevano though and I'm not saying this because I'm an Arsenal fan but his performance certainly wasn't "magical". Give him time. I understand you United fans are all pissing your pants about this bloke but give him time.

Ok, but if Liverpool had beaten Olympiakos 6-2 tonight could you have POSSIBLY got carried away and used the word "magical" in the description of their performance?

Im not talking about the 6-2 win tonight,im talking about the debut of rooney which i think was magical. But if kevano doesnt think the same fair enough i just think he is crazy for saying that rooney gave the ball away alot. Lets not get in a argument about this its quite petty.

Plus kevano crazy remarks about rooneys perfromance aint going to stop him being on the front page on all the newspapers in the morning, and im pretty sure you will see the word 'magical' in one of the reports in the headlines tomorrow.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Nice team performance (defending from set pieces only downfall really)

Wayne Rooney, his last game was in June? for me he's carried on from where left off - Knocking them in left, right and centre for England in Euro 04

Superp hatrick, best ive seen since Ronaldo in the CL !

nice goal from Ruud aswell

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Let me first state that I am a 'Pool supporter ;)

Rooney, even though he is an ex-evertonian and a scum player, was fantastic today. His first touch, vision and off the ball play was quite superb and his goals were amazing - especially when you consider that this was his first game after ages.

But what Kevano and some of the others are sayin have some truth in it. His team play for example needs a bit of work - when he went round the keeper, he should have crossed it to RVN instead of attempting his outrageous shot. Had that been in a crucial part in the game against tough competition then we would be talking differently about him now.....
His random hoof across his own goal line lead to the corner from which Fenerbace scored. He also lost the ball many times in silly situations (but thats prob he hasn't played in ages

Anyone able to post vid of the goals? Stupid Fox Sports World News didn't have them, neither did the earlier Sky sports. Grrr I hate stupid liscensing crap...

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Okay, lets give all this Anything But United fans a break ;) ,it wasnt a magical performance alright? A magical performance would be scoring a first goal after dribbling every opponent, faking the keeper to one side, flicking the ball up and bicycle kick it into the back of the net.Second goal coming straight from the corner kick and the third,a powerful volley from outside your own box all the way to the opponents net.Rooney was below par last night.First goal with his left, weaker foot, his second shot at goal, second goal,a blistering right footed shot from outside of the box after making room for himself and a third,a freekick,David Beckham would be proud of.Nothing much really

, ouh,he's 18? I thought he was 28 or sumthing, out since Euro 04? That was Wanye Ronny.Debut game in the Champions League? It was a toss coin decision by Fergie, lucky bastard. If I'm in the United PLC board right now,I'd put Wayne Rooney on the transfer list and get,errmm.....maybe,Emile Heskey in January.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

The incredible vagueness of the word "magical", in relation to football, makes this argument pretty pointless.

Listen, if that first goal had seen better defense and the third had hit a head, instead of going in between, no one would be calling his performance magical. Because really, either way, it wasn't. His strike on the second goal was BRILLIANT, no question. Call THAT magical. But resist looking at the scoreboard -three goals for Wayne Rooney- and resorting to hyperbole that people usually reserve for the truly exceptional performances.

thats just unrealistic and pointless goals, what kind of player goes round the keeper, then wastes time by flicking the ball up,then doing a stupid bicycle kick, just tap the ball in,which rooney almost did last night, and who the hell has scored a volley just outside their own penalty box! My opinion is it was magical as the boy scored 3 top goals on his debut, what player have you seen recently make a debut hat trick?

not henry, reyes, owen, defoe has ever made an impact like that on their debut, this is like when Ronaldo first burst onto the scene when barcelona got him up from PSV.lets just hope the same thing dont happen to rooney with injurys.

You're just jealous cuz Reyes can't do that.

Whats scary about that was that we hammered in 6 and that wasn't even our best 11 players. Imagine what we can do if Keane, Scholes AND Ronaldo was playing. We'll be way more galactic than Madrid.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Stunning goals by the boy wonder last night, i really think teams are going to have to fear United again now. Also great goal by RVN.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

am not taking the piss but here is one to remember for life

http://cache.gettyimages.com/comp/5...12330C0B846088A956CBE1F310074331C2B4B65FFD231

direct quote "Van Nistelrooy is still recovering from injury, Louis Saha is injured, while Rooney has no experience at this level.

"And Alan Smith may have played in Europe but he is no expert," he added

i guess he forget the theatre of dreams still creates dreams am suer he had a nightmare
all without our other young galatico ronaldo
i hope sir alex can attract some other young players and make this club youthful again

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

On a funny note, did you guys see Rooney asking the referee for the match ball at the end of the game??? The ref didnt gave it to him!!
icon10.gif
The ref gave him a "you're not getting this ball from me son..walk along now.." look with a smile,I think the ref didnt understand what Rooney was saying, both smiled and Rooney walks on with pride,a little tarnished I might say...

I saw him saying something to the ref but wasn't sure what they were going on about.

What do people here think about Kleberson's performance? I think he could make a good winger. His first time shots a dreadful but his long crosses are pretty good. He always adds a nice curl to it.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Well Well Well,

What can I possibly say that hasnt been said already.

What an amazing debut, not suprised to see a few ABU's trying to down last nites performance but feck em'!!

For last seasons Ronaldo debut I knew I'd witnessed something special, but last nite was unbelievable.

Yeah for His first the defending was bad but what a finish, and he gave away the corner that led to their 2nd but other than that it was near perfect a 9.5/10 for me!!

He did get his match ball, apparently the belgian ref was not aware of the english tradition of getting the ball after scoring a hatrick (do they not do this in other countries) he had it signed by the whole team, his first trophy.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

you are a man among boys bauti! Seriously at least you can recongnize... I thought frabregas first game was a incredible performance against everton.

Hahaha, thats very nice of the ref...I'd go up to him and say,"now you know, thanks chap."...Its cool that all of the lads signed the matchball for Rooney. What a memoribilia that would be.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

great game by rooney...
the way he scored the goals where brilliant, his positioning was great, he ma have lost many balls but it's ok, considering it's his debut and he is still 18... :\

man what a frontline SAF can put....

Ronaldo---------------------Giggs
-------Nistelrooy----Rooney.......
OMFG:shock:

if everything goes ok, they will have on of the best attacks of europe...

but... it still remains to be seen if rooney can be a consisten player! [waiting for flame :eh:]

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ruud on the wonder boys debut:

"It was fantastic. If he keeps on doing the same thing like this then he can break my records. I honestly hope he can break my records. He is 18 and he has such a bright future ahead of him. I wish him all the best and hope and believe he can break every single record there is for Manchester United. Everybody congratulated him after the game on a fantastic performance, which he totally deserved. It is all good for United and it is is great to have him here because he is quality. He showed amazing character. If I were to praise one thing, it was his attitude. He is 18 and he knows all eyes are on him but he goes out and does his own thing. To do that at his young age is fantastic."

Nice one Ruud!!

It was good to see him provide Rooney with a goal, he's not known for his assists, thought Rooney should have laid one on for Ruud when he did Rustu at the byline and tried to score from a silly angle, saying that I saw Ruud score a similar goal from a tighter angle on his 1st European game against Deportivo.

The team is really starting to come together now, apart from the problem we are having with CMF/DMF pretty much every other position is looking pretty good, and for attacking capability I dont think there is any better out there than the magnificent seven of Giggs, Scholsey, Ronaldo, Rooney, Smith, Saha and Ruud.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yeah hopefully we can get rid of djemba djemba in january,i thought we should of gone for scottt parker when he was available at charlton. We also need cover for giggs, thats why we desperatly need to win something big this season so we can get some real money to spend in the summer. Its such a big season for us,but i love the whole drama and pressure thats on United, its just amazing that we are such an exciting club on and off the pitch, we never fail to impress.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

its always good to see our makeshift halfbacks do their bit, no keano no ginger no ronaldo and they held their positions well. kleber and bellion were involved more so than djemba, but i just think it's because he is less demanding to get the ball at his feet than those two. bellion grabbed a gol and kleber's assist to giggsy was class.

djemba needs to move to a club where he can start, that way, he ll learn to play with more domination.
