boy, i dont know where to start here. i really dont know if i should be glad or not silvestre bagged two tonight

i really just wished he would be more consistent, looks like you lads were right, rio & silvestre were awesome, they clearly feed off of each other

You know it makes sense - look at Cygan and Toure (Arsenal), they dont exactly shine. But when Campbell is back, their performances will dramatically increase (Toure/Campbell).

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Lets not get too overconfident now.

Though I was surprised how instantly our defence looked solid since Rio came back. I was expecting him to take 2-3 games to get back to his best, but here he is marking Cisse out of the game...lol.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

indeed.

ive also gotta agree with you there ninja, good observation about the goon-fullbacks. i hope the rest of the devils can take something out of this performance by silvestre

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Feck me did we need that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unlike recent years this was one of the 1st times when we had to win for more reason than braggin rites. With recent results, the demise everyones praying for, injuries and Riogate we just had to turn the season around somehow, I thought it'd be in Lyon last week, and to a certain degree it was but after the woeful defending and the seemingly potent strikerforce of Sissy and Baros I feared the worst tonite.

I heard the team get called out and my mood didnt improve, it was the usual one striker and the "choose a player out of position for the most important MF place" we've had Fortune and P.Neville this year its Sheasy (???). Anyway as you all know Ronaldo stole the show, and he's gonna get better, but for me the way Rio slotted in after 8months out was class, it was far from a flawless performance but the kid did good (liked the little dummy he sold sissy) but to be honest when you beat the scousers you rarley give a fuck how anyone plays, shit Fuckwit Forlan got a song.

So its back to winnning ways at OT, funny thing is, is that a few of my peeps have been stating for years that although winning all this stuff is the bollox, that the days we grew up supporting United when we really didnt know what was gonna happen from one game to the next are more interesting than the recent years of "turn up and guess how many we're gonna win by"

I'm half and half on that, yeah we're unpredictable but for me its different nowadays, when LFC's empire crumbled, it wasnt under the spotlight we're under today, apart from enjoying seeing us on the top in (for me) our rightful spot, it makes no difference to my support, but seeing my clubs name dragged all over the media and having to face fuckwit ABU's getting off on us going thru a bad time piss me off to no end so I'm happy for us to stay at the top and until the arse wipes match and beat our record its gonna stay that way just as we've got away to go to mach the scousers mantle of "most sucessful football club"

Yeah success has got its downsides with the hangers on, day-trippers, merchandise monsters, sponsors (vodafone cup anyone) not to mention the club sacraficing the sacared (we used to be MUFC now its MU PLC) plus alienating the next generation of mancunian football goers, FFS how many kids have got a credit card to order tickets.

However its not hard to see the legions of ABU's watching and hoping for us to fail I've heard, read and listened to all promises of "a shift of power" but they've been faker than Lesley Ash's lips (thats for you Eric) I see how that pisses people off to no end, and being a proud manc I love that.

Which is why beating our scally scouse neighbours for the three points and bragging rites was crucial tonite, the table looks alot better than it did on Sunday morning, yeah the arse wipes are still way ahead but we'll get them later, one step at a time peeps.

So Rio back, Rooney on his way and this time no need to rush Saha, G.Neville to return in a few weeks, the 1st team squad will improve ten fold and also out of young MF's Fletcher, DJ, Kleberson and Miller its hard to think that at least two wont make the grade, then Spector, Pique, Rossi, Eagles and Mcshane in the youth team keep us stocked up for the future.

Well im kinda fucked up right now, high as a mofo and cant sleep a wink, twist one for the road and im off.........

Peace out peeps!!!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We dominated the Scouscers for 45 mins.Rio played as if he was never gone, fantastic player, the assuredness and calmness is here again to stay for our backline. No one mention about Keano today. It was an instrumental night for him,I think this game was for his first and late boss,Nigel Clough,he played like Roy Keane,10 years younger.Stars for the night would be Rio,Keano,Ronaldo,Giggs and Silvestre of course for his two goals. For Silvestre doubters and haters, dont hate the player, hate the game.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Ronaldo seems to be getting better every game. And at a fast rate too. His crosses and freekicks are starting to get better and his shots on goals are just brilliant. I'm surprised he hasn't scored one yet.

He will we should get Sneijder for the left and damm the wings are sorted for years!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We looked frightening in the first 45.Put back Scholes in midfield alongside Keano and release Rooney to play alongside Ruud and there you have it,our strongest team yet, bring on europe and the rest of england.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

this is all we fucking need

Confrontation took place earlier in Sept.
Associated Press
MANCHESTER, England -- Manchester United midfielder Roy Keane was charged with assault and criminal damage Tuesday over an alleged confrontation with a 16-year-old boy.

Manchester police said Keane got into the confrontation with the teenager while walking his dog earlier this month at an area golf course.

No details of the confrontation were available.

The Irish midfielder was ordered to appear before a judge Thursday to answer the charges.

Keane, one of the first five picks on FIFA's list of the greatest 100 living soccer players, is known for his temper.

He missed the 2002 World Cup in Korea and Japan after an argument with coach Mick McCarthy over the team's preparations and training facilities. He flew home, and Ireland played without him.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yeah, poor Keano, hope that he would be find later...lolz

but Rooney won't be fine until after 2 weeks....i just don't get why SAF won't start Smith with Ruud?? maybe it might spark something....

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

hm... hes a winger for holland in some degree or another is he not? hes a left sided half back, which kind of makes him a winger...? not sure for ajax though

Left sided half back? I'm pretty sure Sneijder is a centre midfielder who also plays as an attacking midfielder. Sure, he might drift out to the wings sometimes to pick up the ball (a la Scholes) but he is mainly a centre midfielder.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i see, alright then, maybe just bad observation on my part, soz.

united were linked with him though werent we? now that ive learnt hes that type of player, im not sure he wouldve fitted well in our 11

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

We really should get an offensive midfielder. And left winger or left midfielder.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

i would look for a top class defensive midfielder.

keane is 33 now and who do we have to replace him when he retires?

definatley not djemba-djemba. i haven't sen enough of miller, but is he a defensive midfielder? sir alex ferguson's description of him doesn't sound like a keane type player.

I personally would go after Maniche in he summer he is young dynamic and has all the right qualities we need!

What 10m should do and also buy Sneijder for the Left!

i think alex should go for a young british player, DM or LM !!! i hope so....

Why and who?

Buy the best not coz they are british!

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Too many young and inexperienced players is a bad thing. I know a lot of SAF's signings have potential but we need a few older guys in there too. Someone who is in their mid 20's and has already proven himself as a great player.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Not sure if anyone saw the papers this morning but the hacks had used some quotes from Keano warning rooney about the hangers on that come with playing at OT.

As usual the lazy bastards have just pulled these from a fanzine interview with Keano.

Its a cracking interview, courtesy of Red Issue here are some more quality quotes.

The tabloid hacks manage to avoid working yet again by taking their copy from a United fanzine.

Roy Keane last night offered a unique insight into the world awaiting Wayne Rooney at Manchester United and warned Britain's most expensive player of the pitfalls that lie ahead.

"You learn out of experience to choose your friends carefully. Just when you think someone's not such a bad guy, I guarantee you they'll ask you for something. I'll meet 100 people in the next two weeks and 99 per cent of them will ask me for something.

"You try to get to know people and even give them the benefit of the doubt but you can guarantee they'll stitch you up.

"Some people think it's good just to be seen with you, or they'll tell their friends they know you. It's all b*******. I could give some perfect examples of people who I've looked after and then they come out with some s*** about you.

"It's not like being a prisoner but you always have to have your guard up."

Keane on OK! or Hello! Photo shoots:

"If I ever did that I'd love them to come to my house at five o'clock on a Tuesday. I'd love that. They'd see the dog, mud, the kids screaming, my missus would have her jeans on and I'd just have a tracksuit on.

"I don't need the limelight and adulation. Unfortunately some people do. That's why I'm not open to so-called friends. Three of my best friends are lads I used to play football with at Rockmount. I was out with them a few weeks ago and they were hammering me about my clothes and things. That's what friends do.”

On rumours he might have left United:

"I could have been financially a lot better off if I'd left United. I could have gone to Italy, Spain or Bayern Munich. I'm not playing the poor man with United because that's where my heart is and they've looked after me brilliantly. I've been at the club a long time and there's a genuine attachment. But if it had been any club other than United, I would definitely have gone.

"I would love to have seen if I could have adapted and played a different type of football at another big club."

On the footballer’s short career:

"I was in a car last season with Nicky Butt and we were listening to one of those talk-in shows. Some bloke comes on saying Nicky Butt doesn't do it anymore. And I'm laughing to myself as I'm driving.

"Then the next caller comes on and says Roy Keane is finished. And then we both started howling. But that's football. One minute you're a god, the next you're finished. I understand that. And does it really matter how I'm remembered when there will be someone else along next week or next year?"

The guy is a class act, the whole interview is typical Keane.

As everyone knows he's up on a section 4 assault which is common assualt, it usually carries a maximum 6 months bird and £5K fine, I reckon its bollox myself and the kid wants a few quid, if Keano contests it its likely to get thrown out but if worse comes to worse it'll be a fine and community service.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I'd love to have Vicente and Sneijder in our squad soon.Vicente was in the list not a while ago but was deemed too expensive by the PLC.Sneijder would be useful as he can play anywhere across midfield and is very much two footed, unique player.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

I reckon we should sign Paul Gasgoine - He would be a brilliant addition to our already big-squad.

Vann, I enjoyed your Keane interview. You read his autobiography? It is funny as fook in places.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Vann, I will check it out, cheers mate . . . .

A tribute to the victims of the Munich air disaster has been unveiled today (Wednesday) in Germany.

Sir Bobby Charlton, Sir Alex Ferguson and Reds chief executive David Gill were all present at the unveiling of the memorial at the site of the tragic disaster.

The memorial stone features the names of the 23 people who died in the crash on 6 February 1958 - including eight Manchester United players - and also bears the coats of arms of Manchester and Munich.

God bless `em.

"We love them We mourn for them"

Much Props to Morrisey for singing his recent B-side dedication to The Munich Disaster at (of all places) The Leeds Festival, funnily enough a few clueless leeds fans (in leeds colours) swayed along clueless to the lyrical content of the song.

Also recently found in The Chapel at the Bernabau is a beautiful banner presented by Real to United after the crash, it was so soon after the crash that Duncan Edwards name is not on it. No one knows why it has stood there for so long and has since been moved I'll get a picture and put it up. The two clubs have always been close and its good that this has been uncovered.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Sorry to say fellas you're going out of the Carling Cup at the first hurdle. Must pain ya'll to be playing the mighty Crewe Alexandra at Gresty Road. The smell of fish 'n' chips will waft over the hallowed turf while the mercurial skills of Kenny Lunt rip athunder the reserve team defense as Jonah nips in to score and Deano blasts it in from 30 yards. Of course we'll then immediately concede equalisers like we've done in our past two games against Sunderland and Leeds. Two rather big teams or so they thought... before they played us :)

But seriously, hope there'll be a full ground, couldn't manage it for Leeds first team in the league so Man Utd yoof in the meaningless cup could be a stretch especially if its on the telly, ooh.
