Manchester United Thread

Bolton are up against Arsenal so there is a chance that it could hopefully end as a draw. Bolton have gotten a lot better through the years.
We just need to make sure that don't mess up too much in our own games so that we could catch up everytime Arsenal draw or lose (if they ever will).

I don't know why everyone's pushing Spector for a start. He played two decent games against Blackburn and Everton, not exactly setting the world alight.

well because he played very well, silvestre is shit, so was p neville...

As much as I'm disliking Silvestre at the moment though, he still has bags of experience and I just don't think you can throw an 18 (?) year old in when he hasn't particularly proved too much.
Nurture him into the team, yeah. Just don't throw the lad in at the deep end otherwise things could get even worse.

yes, neville out for a month, but saha and rooney will be back very very soon. perhaps as soon as this weekend, good news there. they will not be travelling to lyon for our first CL match this campaign however, because theyre still trying to get fit.

as for spector, i guess hutch's got a point, you dont want to over-start spector, but ffs, please sub off silvestre in the 60th min when he's playing badly, like this weekend

Phil Neville has bit of Silvestre in him, and don't mean his pee-pee (he like to fuck up everyonce in while).
Did anyone see the reserves' goals agianst Bolton yesterday? Absolute class! 3-0 to united, Eagles, Rossi, and Blake. Each goal better than the next.

Rooney is back in full training a could figure against liverpool on monday. As reguards Silvestre i think he will be fine once rio is back which has been said earlier

I doubt Rooney would play so early. But if him and Rio played, that would more or less complete our first 11.

Is Spector gonna crack the lineup at any position this week?
looks like phil is taking over for gery, nad heinze looks like a solid pickup for sir alex, i think spector is there in case these two dont work out....

I want 3 points in Lyon tomorrow night, which will set us up nicely for the Scouse encounter next week. But I would settle for 1 point. I wonder if Ruud will start, or if Fergie will play 4-5-1 with Smith leading the attack? I wanna see a good performance from us.

yea i would think ruud will start, he needs as many matches as possible, to get him back into the swing of things, of course, ruud---smith, because rooney hasnt made the trip

as for the leniency for a point? no way, it will be intolerable to scrape out a draw against lyon. we need three points. to have the luxury of resting players in the CL Group stages is key. i remember we did it two years ago, in group stages, we played valencia and we fielded a relatively younger side.

but youre right ninja, three points will help us, momentum wise, to get three at home against the scouse. plus... rooney!!!

Ya damm right!!!

But not likely, im not used to being pessimistic but at the mo we're kinda shaky, saying that it could be the game to kick start our season, after all you have the all conquering arsenal looking average in europe so we might look half decent tonite.

Anyway I expect Ruud and Smith to start, Oshea is back aswell, plus Heinze is an option, so we are getting players back, not sure what formation he's gonna play but whoever plays ALL players need to improve if we're gonna get anywhere this year!!

Quite an interesting viewpoint from an Ex-Goon...

Lyon's new signing Sylvain Wiltord is looking forward to renewing acquaintances with Manchester United in tonight's match at the Stade Gerland in Champions League Group D.
Wiltord, who left Arsenal in the summer, was once a thorn in the side of United and scored the goal at Old Trafford that won Arsenal the 2002 title at the expense of their eternal rivals.

'I know Manchester United very well,' said Wiltord, who made his debut for Lyon as a substitute at the weekend in the 2-1 win at Rennes - the Brittany-based club where he started his career in a formidable partnership with Stephane Guivarc'h.

'We start with a big European clash and it would be good to win all three points at home,' said 30-year-old striker Wiltord, who has joined a club that has won three consecutive Ligue 1 titles.

'It will be tough but we have chances to unsettle them. I have often had the chance to score against them when I was with Arsenal.

'Now it's different, I am with a new side and I am determined. I know we can win.'

Manchester United are 11th in the Premiership after only one win in five matches, but Wiltord knows they will have the resources to bounce back in the Champions League.

'They are not playing very well at the moment but the European competition is different. They will gather their spirit and will be determined to win.

'We must concentrate and triumph over them.'

Wiltord has urged his team-mates to pay particular attention to Manchester United playmaker Paul Scholes.

'I will tell the team to play their game, try to press them up front and prevent them from developing their game,' Wiltord said.

'Scholes is an excellent playmaker, he loves serving his team-mates with good passes and if we manage to put pressure on him, everything will be possible.

'(Ruud) van Nistelrooy will also be a player to watch. He is smart and excellent in attack.

'The English are fierce and combative on a pitch, they play with their heart and we will have to be both aggressive and careful twice as much as usual.'

Hhhm gonna have to watch Wiltord tonite, during his career here he didnt seem to do much but a goal against us to win the goons Our Trophy at Ot and a goal in an FA cup game at OT the following season show that he likes scoring against us, as Ive said Lyon are far from being muppets so its gonna be a tough game regardless.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

---------------Howard--------------
Silvestre---Brown---Heinze---O'Shea
Ronaldo---Keano----Djemba---Giggs-
--------------------Scholes--------
--------------Ruud-----------------

is the starting 11 for SAF right now. heinze has already been booked, and he has repeatedly fouled Govou... better be careful

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

Okay, 16 shots in the first half? How is that possible? I can't watch the game, watching it on uefa's gamecast thing. Someone who's watching, are we really playing this badly?

I'm sick of Unitd underperforming. Could this really be the end of the era? Hopefully not, but if they play like this in the champions league, and the premiership, I won't really be too happy if the FA Cup is the only thing left playing for.

SAF? WTF?

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

we have been playing like a bunch of schoolboys since the start of the season.

i don't think i have been entertained by united at all this season.

very,very upset.

something needs to be done FAST.

Re: Manchester United Supporters Thread.

yet another draw.

glad to see van nistelrooy bagging a couple of goals. just in time to face liverpool on monday!

a better 2nd half, but still giving away too many sloppy balls.

we nearly lost it right in the dying seconds, as nobody closed down juninho, leaving him to curl a shot which hit the post.

we need to sort out our defence quick!
