Manchester United Thread

He also doesn't want to be at MUFC. Don't get our transfer 'strategy' at all.

I thought we lost the plot the day we signed Bebe but this weekend with all the players leaving and very little ready made replacements (maybe a goalkeeper)coming in is weird

Since Ferguson only Rooney, Jones, Smalling, Carrick, Young, Valencia remain?

Yep. 16 departures this summer alone. 21 of the 12/13 championship winning squad have left.

Surely the largest squad turnover by a 'major' club (not bankrupt for example) in just 2 years?!

Gary Neville just tweeted:

------------DDG-----------
-Rafael-Smalling-Jones-Evra-
-Nani-Carrick-Rooney-Welbz-
--------RVP-Hernandez------

Would do a job and not have cost a penny...

why you loaned out Januzaj, now he needed to start just like Memphis does...

just my opinion..

still think Martial might be good for you, the money qouted is insane though...football dies slowly with stuff like that...

at least football i used to know

I do agree Martial is a great prospect but for me still a prospect
Amount of money for him is crazy right now
Although saying that he can prove everyone wrong
He has good ability but to be the main man striker aiming for trophies in the premier league etc... is another and only time will tell

It is amazing to see how many players have left now after fergie
In some ways sad but it does happen in football teams move on

Di Maria quotes on LVG ...

"Van Gaal has his philosophy and one of the things that made me want to leave is that," he told ESPN Radio Argentina.

"It is difficult to adapt to Van Gaal. I had a couple of rows with him. I started well and after that I got injured. Things didn't go well for me and Van Gaal changed my position.

"I spoke with (PSG head coach Laurent) Blanc and his thinking was that I'd play in a similar position to where I did at Real Madrid."

about Martial, Monaco apparently confirming it was €80m/£58m for Martial. Second biggest British transfer after Di Maria.

Breaking: Monaco tell Canal + that Manchester United paid €80m for Anthony Martial http://j.mp/DeadlineDay2015

#Monaco confirmed to Infosport #MUFC paid €80m for #Martial. Report bids rejected for Fabinho, Moutinho & Bernando Silva from unnamed sides.

also another fun fact, Aloysius Paulus Maria "Louis" van Gaal and Moyes both tied at 27 wins each after 50 games in charge. hmm..

De Gea deal off apparantly. Paperwork didn't go through in time and Spain don't allow extensions.

Dunno if that'd be good for Utd or terrible?

Bizarre day in Edland

The documents did not arrive on time!!!!!! Presentation was ready. All agreed. But as it stands de Gea stays at MUFC!!

YES!

In some brilliant turn of events I'll take that.

Also were mental for loaning out Januzaj, I give up. :(( I don't want us to be this circus, can't we just be a normal club who used to laugh at these deadline day clubs.

lol, this is getting ridicilous...

Spanish media outlet Onda Cero are saying Real Madrid had arranged a presentation for 1pm tomorrow, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen now.

Although our chief news reporter Bryan Swanson has just tweeted: "David de Gea - #mufc waiting for confirmation either way but adamant they have proof all their paperwork submitted to FIFA on time. #SSNHQ.'

We'll have to wait for our stock disclosures but I cannot believe the numbers coming out of France re Martial. Literally double those reported in England. Then again both are mental.

Madrid had all summer to give us an actual serious offer. Waited till halfway through the final day. Amateur hour all around.

No appeal. De Gea staying

The signing of Martial will take the cost of Utd's squad back up to around 400/420m (depending on which fee ends up being correct) and yet they only have 1 senior Striker. If the window closes as is...

So, it looks like will are sending Wilson out on loan also. Adnan, Javier, Wilson... so we will rely heavily on Wayne, Depay and perhaps on that young french lad I even do not know 'till yesterday. :JAY:

I go with lami here... it seems to me that Ed is a muppet.

I feel so bad for big Dave. He's been our best player for 2 years, justifiably wants to move home and then gets screwed by two idiots in a dick swinging competition.

Neither side is entirely without blame, and we've really screwed a young man.

Oh wait, he's still getting like 70k a week to play football, and may have to suffer through 6 months of not playing much. Could be rather worse.

It's worse than that. With things as they are, we only have 18 outfield players in our senior squad (!!!).

Ed's got the skillzzzz

However our operating costs will have seriously dropped. Estimates are we've dropped our wage bill by about 1m a WEEK!

Wow, Monaco have some confidence in the lad, these are hte 30m of 'clauses' apparently:

These include € 5 million each time Martial is the top scorer in the Premier League, to a maximum of € 15 million. Another € 5 million will be due if Martial wins Golden Boy. The final € 10m will be paid if Martial won the Balon D'or career in Manchester.

Happy to pay those!!!

It's like the Zaha contract. 15m was the widely reported/accepted fee we paid. But almost 10m was made up of performance clauses which we didn't hit.

Yea, still a huge initial fee for an unknown kid, but, with clauses like that, you're hoping you end up paying it all.

Bit like us with Sterling. We need to win multiple PL titles and/or CLs in order to pay the full amount.
