Manchester United Thread

Later on tonight:
Man Utd manager Louis Van Gaal has been arrested on suspicion of the murder of 15 swans in the Manchester Ship Canal area

I wish the top 4 would get their act together and show how shite Rodgers is doing.

Who is this 'top four' you mention?
The way I see the EPL this season is there is no more top four sides as typically has been.
Long may the shift of power spread to as many teams as possible.
Man City seem an exception but 2 draws or the odd defeat that they WILL have, will change everything.
Let's hope they're not out of sight on points before it happens!

I think LVG will have been great for United, as he stopped the rot, made us credible with his confidence, and installed some excellent fundamentals in the team.

But good lord the dross he serves up. Last season we had 63% possession against Swansea, managed 3 whole shots on target, lost 2-1. This season, 64% possession, a whole 4 shots on target, lost 2-1. Progress?

I often (somewhat jealously) complain that Barca's keep ball only really works consistently because they have the most talented footballer in history to unlock stubborn defences - and it's more about that then possession being key. Well, we've got sterile possession as Wenger calls it down pat, and absolutely nothing like a footballer that can unlock a game. Hence, we don't shoot, we don't score and we're dull and dire.

If it continues (the performances, not the results) I'm not sure he'll last the season. I enjoyed a chunk of the Newcastle match, but other than that it's been since around early April that we played good football in the league. When you see teams like Palace, Southampton last year, Swansea and so forth all able to play great football with in theory lesser players, you just wonder - why can't LVG sort it out? You can't tell me we don't have XI players capable of being better than this...

Chicharito heading to Bayer Leverkusen? Ozil came to Arsenal 9/2/13 11th hour, you wonder who MUFC has coming...Net spending (-)?

Man this team is so frustrating to watch. Looking forward to deadline day. Transfer In!! Who's it gonna be???

We've been linked with everyone it's not funny. We'll end up selling De Gea and Chicha and getting a phantom.

Martial from Monaco is linked with United... don´t know him, but he seems to be good from what i read..

 sry should of bought Benteke

Well, I'm embarrassed. Mendes must have watched on Sunday and just been chuckling softly to himself, staring at his cell phone awaiting the cool from Ed Woodward.

"Hi Ed. Yes I saw it. Yes that's clear. No problem, I've got exactly what you need. He's world class Ed, world class. Never heard of him? Come on now, you've never seen a football match in your life. Yes I know you got a new noodle sponsor. Just 50m. No not even pounds! Euros! Great, it's done then."

I never fully recovered from my ACL injury on my knee, but don't let that get in the way, just shell 50M€ on the table and I'm a Man United player.

It's embarrassing, but I'm uploading a video of my cat swatting a ping pong ball, I'm only asking 20m so should be okay I think.

How big Ed conducts transfers with Jorge Mendes:

Sells top 3 goalkeeper in the world to richest club in the world: 30m
Buys random 19 year old from selling club not in the CL: 50m

Ed has this sh*t down. I hope to find out one day that Ed actually works for Mendes, and not united. Cause it's pretty much the only explanation of his ineptitude.

So the very last day RM pops it's ugly head. Hello , you keeping De Gea? Here's €30m ! Oh wait we need to sell Navas for €15m how bout we swap n play a friendly in U.S. ?

That's what I've been saying this whole time. Madrid have been screwing Dave imo. They have the money, he's the player they want, and yet they're playing a game to save, what, 10m euros? As if they need that. They can instantly come up with 40m odd to buy Kovacic - which is hte last position they need to fill - but can't scrounge up the euros for big Dave.

Also mental that they're basically forcing Navas to move. And more mental that we're happy to take what is going to be a distraught player.

We're a mockery of what we once were. Best manager in history and one of the best CEOs (Gill). Now we have a f*cking moron at the helm (in football terms).

I just want to know what big Ed is judged on. Trophies? Nope. Points? Nope. Entertainment? Absolutely not. Presumably the one thing he's done is return profits. So I guess that.

I'm shocked on the fact how we do business. Loading of Adnan and Javier but still talking of a lack of creativity and attacking options.

So what? Buy some 19y old lad, double his worth (at least!) this will do it. Not to speak about the whole keeper-saga. It is depressing.

I'm actually sad.

Thought £36m for a lad Monaco wanted £15m for off Spurs 2 months ago was a bit mental, but there's talk emanating from France of it being £58m all in all.

Either way, Ed has hit the panic button with a sledge hammer.

The lad might turn into something special but if you're going to panic buy you'd think you'd go for someone you know will make an immediate impact, not a lad with potential.

Selling Hernandez and loaning out Janujaz too? You must have a big forward lined up. Can't go into the season with just Rooney and a youngster as STs

Well, rumour now is that Wilson is off on loan.

That would mean this summer we've lost: RVP, Falcao, Hernandez, Wilson, Januzaj.

And replaced them with Memphis - who isn't a striker. Oh and some kid from Monaco who had a decent half season, who also isn't a striker.

The f*ck are we doing?!??!

Player after player leaving, How many attackers have we sold or loaned out this summer. Martial could be a great signing but we need someone ready to come in and play. The fee only really matters if the player flops as degea and rooney were overpriced when we bough them but were worth it and now shaw is starting to justify his price.

I think the deal for De Gea is nearly done and lindergad has also left. What do ye think we need to sign before the deadline starts?

I think another goalkeeper. Would love Oblak but wouldn't mind navas as part of Madrid deal. Another proven striker to bring in along with Martial. I know people will laugh bet I think Austin would be a great buy especially as I dont think we are going to get a Cavani or Ibra. A world class defender but I dont there are any available.

And a dream would be for someone to buy Fellaini as that long ball shite yesterday was disgraceful

Didier Deschamps just told the media that Lloris has left the French national team camp for a transfer deal...you got yourself a new (very good) goalkeeper...hope LVG doesn't fuck him up like Valdes, De Gea and Enke.

Ihave a feeling we are going to have a miserable season without Lloris...shit always falls down to the lowest club.../Madrid and United are playing a game of poker and the looser is...Spurs...

Would LOVE that to be the case (wanted him pre DDG) but everything I'm seeing is that Navas is on his way over in 'return' for De Gea.

A keeper I've literally never seen catch a high ball. Loves a punch. Going to adore the EPL.

Keylor Navas has signed for Utd so doubt Lloris will sign

Real Madrid are paying 25m euros for De Gea with United getting Keylor Navas (valued at 15m euros) in return

Tho Ballague is saying 40m euros + Navas
