Arsene Wenger said:
Wenger wants Rooney Jul 4 2004

ARSENE Wenger has revealed how he would like to sign England's Euro 2004 sensation Wayne Rooney for Arsenal.

But the Gunners boss fears the Everton striker is bound for rivals Manchester United.

And Wenger also believes the signing of Rooney by Sir Alex Ferguson would make the Red Devils the biggest threat to Arsenal's bid to retain their Premiership title.

Wenger said: "I dream at night of bringing him to Arsenal, but that's all it is, a fantasy.

"We cannot compete with the money he would cost so I just have to accept he is out of our reach. I think Rooney will be a United player next season. They know they have to act because Chelsea will do something big and they cannot afford to be left behind.

"I didn't think it was possible someone so young could dominate so much. You have to say he is amazing."

Jealous much?

He might be jealous, but then again he can look in his changing rooms and see a certain young Spanish striker sitting there who is equally as good and cost less than half as much. So I don't think he'll be that jealous... ;)

I'm personally gutted to see Utd get such an obvious talent, but it should be good for England in the long run to have him at Utd. If he can get his temperament sorted out and keep progessing as he has, there's no reason why he couldn't be the next great England striker, and him and Owen could form a very lethal partnership that could be around for the next 5 or 6 years.

yes. thats a good point. i feel owen's move to real and rooney's trip to OT has given england a shot in the arm here... a real bright future for england, say WC06 and euro08!

GREAT!!!! now, when is Rooney gonna heal?? and then Smith...i love this guy now though!!! him and rooney...who to partner Ruud?? i think i have to see how Rooney plays for his first few games to decide...argh!!! HEADACHE!!!!

Well the signing of the Fat One has got everyone at the club buzzing, which is what we need at the mo, I dont think its gonna make any bearings on our Season or Us getting Our Trophy back (not this season anyway) it could make a diff in Europe though, time will tell...

Our attacking line-up is as good as anyones right now...

No. 7 Ronaldo

No. 8 Rooney

No. 9 Saha

No.10 Ruud

No.11 Giggsy

throw Smith and Scholsey in the mix and its not bad at all....

Rooney isnt an out and out CF, Fergie see's him more operating behind 1 or 2 strikers, which is what we've been missing, also with Saha's pace and strong left foot he could play as a left winger aswell, which is good cos Giggs needs some comp for his place.

This is all pretty much up in the air cos Fergie aint gonna use him too much this season anyway...

Intersting that his first possible game could be against the kopshite!!

hope he gets fit by the 'pool game!
isnt rio back that day aswell, i am sure he is

sure is...

tbh I dont think they'll be ready by then but it'd be nice to see Rooney play against them he said in todays press conference he'd love to score the winner, maybe not this year but he'll get his shot...

Not sure whats gonna happen to our scouse songs though!!!

i mean now we have Rooney, another Everton game would be nice...

and (sorry for my poor grammar), the really poor part is not money wise...what i meant is their temper...Rooney had to leave...sorry, i hope u ppl can understand what i'm trying to say, since...i just can't find the words!!! (if not, then just treat this as b/s)

so its ok for sol campbell to move from spurs to arsenal, but not for rooney to move from everton to manchester united?

that was different. sol was leaving to play for a better club than the one he was already at, one that would win trophies.

Soccernet was the first to find out mr rooney's reaction to all the mess going on about the boy's abilities to keep his temper:

'As a professional I know myself,' he said. 'No-one has to tell me how to behave on or off the pitch. I know myself, so there is not much more they can tell me.

'I know the spotlight is going to be on me a bit more because I have signed for the biggest club in the world.

'That will bring more pressure but I am big enough and strong enough to handle it.'

10/10, nobody couldve have put it any better :)

so your telling me everton are a better club than man utd and one that can win trophies?

i really don't understand your comment.

it sounds like the same reason why rooney has left everton for man utd.

Did anyone see the reserves last night.Pique and Rossi were playing>I can see now why all the fuss was made about Rossi. He scored a cracking goal and still only 16

Sweet, i'll have to try and catch the highlights on MUTV or something :D

Rossi's goal was great. And he's only 16 which is shocking. Imagine what he'll be like when he's 18.

What, so Rooney hasnt left a poor club, relegation contenders? Also, arent United a better team than Everton, who will win trophies. He has left for (a)Champions League Football (b)Trophies. You donk.
