Manchester United Thread

Ugh, no Shaw, Carrick, Jones or Evans tomorrow. Means yet another makeshift midfield, with Blind forced to play LB.

Can see us dropping points now.

According to injury league we've literally had 3x as many games missed through injuries as Chelsea. 3rd year in a row we're in the top 2 of the injury league. Something is clearly wrong. I blame Phil Jones.

I hope that LVG uses these last few games to blood in some of the youth players who havent featured yet.

Not sure if the other teams in The CL positions have brought any young players through, I know Chelsea have a few out on loan.

Blackett, McNair, Wilson and Adnan have all had bit parts this season but featured nonetheless.

There are others that are seen as "better" in the youth set-up that havent made the step up yet.

Pleased to hear that Andreas Pereira has signed a new deal until 2018.

Arsenal has even had them play in the CL , maybe not by choice lol . Bellerini-Coq are in the starting XI.

That's so just our luck this year. Free kick harmlessly hit going to the left, deflects perfectly into the right from a player not even looking at the ball. Edit, just saw the beautiful ball over the top where they won the free kick was a deflection from the ref! Man...

Typical. Just ridiculously typical.

80% possession, the highest amount of possession for WBA has been wasting time on goal kicks.

Mourinho is right. Possession football is dead. At the highest level, winning matches comes down to moments of luck or skill. We can't do either with this LVG play.

LVG can't claim that the 5 wins in a row is his pattern if we lose the next 3. Pathetic.

Yeah, this game is just one of those Moyes luck things. Not sure I've seen us dominate like we have this second half. Must have had 15 clear chances, they've literally been in our final third once.

Also, this ref is appalling. He just played on for advantage to us when Young was fouled, ball rolled to Di Maria who was offside, and he forgot the advantage. The quality of English officials...

Sometimes when City have a similar difficulty against a parked bus I have no idea why we don't give them the ball and let them come onto us every now and then. Let them drag themselves out of position.

DiMaria's having a bit of a mare so far

I've seen many jammy victories in my football watching years. That is the jammiest. Someone needs to ask Pulis who is going to win the derby.

Utterly, utterly outplayed, one shot in the second half in its entirety that was going wide.

If Pulis claims some kind of tactical masterclass I'll enjoy watching him get fired from yet another mid-bottom level club.

WBA didn't even defend very well. Fellaini needs an injury to save our season.

Yeah this possession domination only works if you score as well but with no penetration against a wall of defenders we need to change up our gameplan. The 81%or so of possession again is only impressive for statistics but does jack shit to help us on the table.

So weird seeing inform-Rooney not take the pen. Then ,seeing Fellini up top while Robin stayed deep in midfield play. Mutd use to put ground passes in the middle , now , its air balls to one Fellini.

Chicharitos Javer! having another good game for RM.

To be fair, I'm not sure many teams would have what it takes to get through WBA today. It was a 5-5-0 formation for the entire second half. You need some luck to get through that at the highest level, and luck went in the opposite direction.

You see Chelsea win 3 straight matches by 1 goal because of keeper errors - that's the kind of thing we lack this season. Part of it comes from our own lack of intensity, but to be honest defending like that in the modern game isn't that hard, relative to breaking it down.

It's one of the reasons the sport kind of sucks. If there was a salary cap/teams were on even footing then it would be far more entertaining. As it is, people spend thousands on watching one team play football, the other play a defensive drill and waste time.

United playing possession is not helping them. I don't know why the change from quick counter on wings to possession play.

Well you have to hand it to Myhill too. To rub salt on your wounds, their 2nd keeper turned up and pulled a Neuer-like performance. You don't see something like that every day.

I can only remember one poor deflection he made from RVPs shot in the 1st half, which fell to Young. But other than that, the man saved their skin. The saves from the penalty and that deflected shot from RVP toward the end were great.

As for breaking down their defence, it is not easy but you expect United to do it at home. I think Rooney, RVP, Falcão and especially Di Maria weren't up to the task.
RVP and Young were the biggest threats.

Beach, you are such a bad loser and obsessed by Chelsea.
Just face it, Chelsea have better team, they fully deserve to be where they are.

A team like United should always win against WBA, no matter how defensive that team plays and no matter how bad the ref is. Teams like Chelsea or United don't have to complain about refs.

Look at Villa for example, last week they should have won against City but for the ref and also look at Everton's second goal yesterday. A disgrace that this goal stood...

MUFC made such a turn around in the 2nd half of the season , even losing to Chelsea was admirable. The games after that is Carrick`s missed , unnoticed brilliance . The same could be said about Matic (The Wall) and newly promoted Coq ( no technical skill just a light weight bruiser)

Yea, Villa should have won if you forget the fact that Benteke was offside for one of their goals and City should have had a pen long before the last minute. Gerd should try watching full games

I've watched PSV a couple of time due to Rekik being there and Depay was pretty poor both games (Ajax and some other team I can't remember), tho you could tell he has good technique and he's quick. He's obviously a better player than what I saw given his goal tally. I'd rather take a chance on him at 25m than splurge god knows how much on Sterling

Interesting to see Utd doing their business so early. There's early and then there's this early...
Scared of losing CL spot or just LVG making up for lost time?

Doesn't look likely that Di Maria will be going to PSG (unless utd are prepared to take a loss) given that they've been done by FFP again. They only have £35m to spend now

Depay is a big prospect. Should be a good signing, hope he adapts better than Di Maria.
A couple of weeks ago there was talk that a loan of Januzaj to PSV would be part of the deal. Don't know if this will happen. Haven't read anything about that part of the deal...

I think Januzaj will benefit greatly going on loan and getting more competitive football minutes in him to help him grow. He still has the potential to be a great player in the future.

Very happy we're doing the business so early on, sets us straight into preparation for next season with lots of time to prepare and for LvG to preach his philopsophy over the whole summer. Still hope Di Maria will stay, and a good summer will get him fired up and ready for the next season...

But regardless, we still have 3 matches to play and hopefully these three matches will come out good to secure CL next season. One more MF and one more CB then I think we're set.

I think Depay will fit into our league and team much better than Di Maria, he's more Sanchez in his style but I think what I really like about him is his attitude, wants to be the best.

So no Carrick for rest of season. Fascinating how one player is so crucial - we basically win almsot every game with him playing, and lose when he's not.

Not good for Palace.

Squeaky bum time as always. We never make it easy.

At least Carrick's importance is acknowledged by LVG. Better than Fergie managed for 6 years. Who knows, maybe this off season we'll sign a central midfielder!!!
