Manchester United Thread

There is no "too good" for United, you know that, right?

But he's not for sale and we'll never get him even if he was. Furthermore, he's like Fabregas - playing for his childhood favourite team.
One might even say he has a much more important role for Dortmund than Cesc for Barca.

Why you guys keep hurting yoursel ? First thiago than fabregas now modric then reus ? Non of this it's going to happen so stop it now better ;)

And yes reus it's way to good for united , he's playing at team that was on final of CL and propably will be more up than united this season too ;)

We're well aware that none of the deals are going to happen (not because they're too good for United ffs), but who's to stop us from dreaming a little bit? :D

And what's up with the "too good for United" bollocks? Are you boosting your ego as a Liverpool fan, since this kind of statement could be made for your team now? I'll give you arguments if you want.

I'll say it again, there's no player that is too good for United, Ronaldo could play here (not saying Messi, because he'll never leave Barca imo) and who's better than Ronaldo or Messi?

I'm baffled by the fact that anyone could say that someone's too big for United or let it be Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern or any other of the top clubs around the world.

Well, apparently we are close to signing some one.. anyone.. it will probably be some obscure Belgian.
I don't mind having Belgians. Young Belgians are one of the best generations of young footballers for a decade or two. My opinion of course. :D

I have a feeling that by "obscure" he s referring to a certain Mr. Pubic Hair Afro Head/Mr Microphone/Mr. I m not sure why I have my hair this way other than to spread loads of lice and dandruff every time I head the ball

I doubt we'd go through the trouble of having Valencia relinquish the number if it wasn't something bigger than him just wanting his old number back.

doesn't necessarily mean I think we have Ronaldo close to being wrapped or anything like that but maybe a little nod in his direction (as weve probably held talks and what his demands are etc)

Decent showing today. Wigan's first XI was more or less all seasoned premier league players, so wasn't quite as easy it should have been on paper. For the first 35 mins we were utterly dominant in both halves, which was good to see.

And Adnan and Wilf both got their debuts.

Very odd business with Tony V and the number 7.

Call me nuts but how devious would it be if buddies SAF and Mourinho have worked out some type of deal which will see Rooney going to Chelski and Bale to Utd ..both getting the player they wanted while screwing Real in the process. /cue X-Files theme :CONFUSE:

Just saw a stat:

1 - the number of premier league matches SAF did not start at least one United youth graduate (Arsenal 10/11)

That is phenomenal.

So if one trusts a few 'United' journalists (Daniel Taylor at Guardian in particular) we've been briefing that Rooney is absolutely, 100% not being sold to Chelsea. Out of principle, or something.

Will be interesting. My personal take is that the media have (of course) shamelessly blown this out of proportion, and that it will take a seriously repentant Rooney to get back in with supporters. And I don't think Wayne is the type to do that.

So I don't think it'll be a great situation.

But as a football fan, and a United fan, I feel more comfortable knowing that Wayne Rooney is playing for my team, and perhaps moreso that we won't be forced into selling to the oil clubs just because they like to wave their bank accounts around.

*preparing to wake up to hear we've sold Rooney to Chelsea*

Find me an article or quote tho where Rooney said he wants to leave. I haven't seen one other than quotes pulled out of context. Not saying him saying anything is necessary but ud think there would have been some sign or induction that he wants out. Haven't seen anything to really make me believe that's the case.

I'd like to agree, but the silence is deafening. I don't doubt for a second that his agent has been leaking to the press directly (angry and confused), and I have to assume that Wayne at the very least knows about this and has allowed it.

If Wayne really didn't want to leave, and had no interest in Chelsea, it would take him 2 minutes of his busy life to put all this to bed. Just lean out of his car on the way to Carrington one morning (where the scum press are taking pictures of player arrivals) and say:

"Ehm, yeah so I'm a United player and that's not changing, like, I'm excited to start the season."

Job done.

For me Rooney has been a total and utter coward this summer. You want to leave? Fine, grow a pair and come out and say it. Hand in a transfer request. Stop this pissing about with agents and the press, it's disgusting.

Yeah I have to say I wish I could see what all goes on behind the scenes. All of this is such a farce. I wish Fifa would demand more visibility of the player and agent relationship in particular. Force them to report their finances or something. Assuming agents get paid a percentage the primary drive will likely always be money first. Then again.. Asking Fifa to bring more transparency and root out shady practices goes against anything it stands for itself. /end of incoherent rant

The most distasteful part of it all is the way the old pisscan outed Rooney right before he slunk off.

As much as I'd like to, I can't disagree with that.

Rooney crossed Ferguson once, and survived. The second time he was always going to incur his wrath.

To be honest I think Ferguson is just frustrated by Rooney. Imagine that you've gone out on a limb publically, built a team around him and then he just won't get fully fit for a season. So you're forced to go out and buy another striker, cause you can't trust your 25 year old to be fit for more than 2/3rds of the season.

But that doesn't excuse Ferguson from talking about it in public. It set Moyes up to fail, especially as Ferguson will know how the English (scum) media will operate. Having followed some of the 'journalists' over the years, a few of them have chips the size of Ivanovic's ass on their shoulders about United - about how they, these glorious, lying scumbag journalists have been treated badly when they've lied - and would love nothing more than helping nice, beautiful Jose in their home town out.

As I've always maintained, write a positive story about United and you'll get 5% approval, write a negative story and you'll get 95% approval. Easy. There's no other excuse to the twisting of Moyes comments about Rooney in the summer, which have now become 'truth'.

(for those unawares, in his first interview about Rooney he basically said: Rooney is part of my first team plans, he can play up front, he can play in the hole, he can even play out wide. He's fantastic. And if RVP gets injured, he'll fill in with goals.

The only part that made the news, of course, is the out-of-context final sentence.

He's not leaving, we failed to land a marquee name so Wayne's going to have to sit tight for the time being.

On tonight's showing though he's way off starting for us, he needs to get match fit first.

Now the rumors seem to be about Modric again. I'd love it and think he d be great but I'm going a lil dizzy bc of all the names being thrown around. I still think we ll sign an established name. Correct if I'm wrong tho but other than the usual Ronnie talk I've only consistently heard of our interest in Bale and Modric well before the end of the season. We ll see if this is a case of the writing having been on the wall.

Just wondering, with all these rumours of Gustavo leaving Bayern, why are we not in for him? And why are there no rumours at all? We need a deep lying midfielder, and he's the strong type that can give us the link between defense and midfield. He's like a Phil Jones but more of a midfielder than a defender. I can see him being a Viera/Keane type player that we need.

On another note, the season is starting, what you all reckon our starting line-up vs swansea to be? Similar to the one for the CS match or will Rooney be sloted in?

I'd play something like

---------------De Gea
Fabio---Ferdinand----Vidic---Evra
----------Jones-----Carrick
--------------Cleverley
Valencia--------------------Welbeck
--------------van Persie
