I'm pissed anyway. I can see the young talent when it emerges. I live in the fekkin' US,man!!!! I cant see Ruud, Scholesy, and C.Ronaldo except for once a year if I'm lucky.

This has pissed me off something fierce :x . All the other teams are bringing their big guns.

UGH!!

these guys played in a major tournament, ruud got to the SEMIS!!!! ole is injured which he can't help and it is an honor to play in the olympics so i can understand why Cris has gone, you gotta lay off the guys

dammit!!!!! why do they include heinze and CR?????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????/

stupid portuguese fa and argentine fa!!!!!!!!! i hope argentina and portugal will not reach the quarterfinal!! i hope they will k'oed in the group stage!!(for picking up heinze and CR!!!!)

Well forget Rooney and all the other signings or possible signings the player im looking forward to seeing is young Miller. I'm not expecting the new Keano but he's defo quality and is gonna bring alot to the side. He's good in midfield but he played for Eire on the right and got man of the match so with Ronnie and Ole out and Fergie could play him there.

"The comparisons are coming about because we are both from Cork and we are now both at Manchester United, but I don't think the comparisons would be there if it wasn't for that. The fans will see straight away that we are different types of player. Once they do then I think that will help me settle without having that added pressure. I hope the United fans will just make their own minds up when they see me play, and accept me for the type of player I am. It would be nice to get to his standard. But we both have different aspects to our game. I am a different type of player to Roy. He is the finished article for a start. I have many years to catch up. But it can only be good for me to learn off someone of his calibre. I had a brief chance of working alongside him in my one and only Republic of Ireland match with him at the end of last season. It was a great experience and I am sure that, with his help, I can only get better. His reading of the game and awareness is terrific. He has got everything. I have the confidence to play in the Premiership. I wouldn't have moved if I hadn't felt ready for it. It is a challenge that I am looking forward to. By the time the squad returns from America I should be there or thereabouts, and I will be looking forward to getting my match fitness up to scratch."

I think Liam Miller is of Darren Fletcher's quality but as a defensive midfielder,he should be a harder player whom never passes off a challenge.I read somewhere that he is left footed? Am I correct or could someone confirm this? What boots does he wear? I'm gonna put him alongside Keane in my default United XI in WE7I.

I think he's more balanced than Fletch who sometimes looks abit lost in the attacking third of the field, not sure about his strongest foot, seeing them train I got the impression he was right footed.

At last, fingers crossed peeps ;) :D

Madrid target United striker
HIS club want shot of him, the player himself is seemingly keen for pastures new, and finally both Manchester United and Diego Forlan could see their wishes come true with Atletico Madrid keen to sign the Uruguayan striker.

Having failed to come anywhere near justifying his £8 million price tag and fallen to fifth choice in the Unted strikers' pecking order, Forlan knows that to avoid spending a season either up in the stands or playing with the kids at Altrincham he will have to find new employers.

And United are keen to knock £35,000 a week from their wage bill as they weigh up just how much they'll need to offer to prise Wayne Rooney from the rumblings of Everton's internal wranglings.

Cashing in

The Reds had previously hoped to recoup at least some of the striker's initial transfer fee but the collapse in the transfer market coupled with the collapse in Forlan's reputation means that they will now accept bids starting from £0.

And they could even accept a loan offer from Atletico, perhaps in the hope that should Forlan impress they will be able to negotiate a deal that woukld take Fernando Torres in the other direction.

Forlan has also been heavily linked with a move to Aston Villa, but Villans boss David O'Leary has seemingly decided that one erratic South American is enough for any squad and won't now look to partner Forlan with Juan Pablo Angel.

Its abit snide but he just aint gonna make it at OT, he scored some important goals last time we won The Prem, and of course made the scousers cry  but other than that its painfully obvious he wasnt bulit for life at OT, he's a nice enough guy and if he does go I wish him the best, but I dont fancy the thought of watching his team mates look at him in disbelief as he lets a pass go astray or fails to trap the ball for the millionth time.

wait a minute.. does that mean we have to rest ronaldo and heinze till november?????? OMG!!! we're gonna lose the title race if this happens!

Aww Come one dude! your're making a fool of yourself with that comment....Ronaldo shouldnt even be in our XI,as Fergie will use him sparingly and we didnt do that bad without Heinze last season...dont get your hopes down mate...

if we lose CR till november, i hope fletcher will not play on the right wing! he sucks there.. he plays better @ CM.. i hope Miller will stays injury free so that he will play at the right wing

Fergie warns Heinze!!!!!!!!!!!!

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Gabriel Heinze that his Old Trafford career could be over before it's begun due to the Olympics.
The Argentinian left back has been bought from French side Paris Saint Germain this summer, but may never establish himself at United.

The £6.9 million buy will be representing his country at the Athens Olympics and will not return to Manchester until September at least, and Ferguson says he may bring in a replacement.

Winger Cristian Ronaldo will also be representing Portugal in the games, but Ferguson says that it is Heinze's future which is under threat.

"The one thing very apparent in this situation is that here's a lad who may be denied an opportunity to get a career at Manchester United," said Ferguson.

"When I start the season I may have another left back because of this and he may never get a game. He may find it difficult to get in the team.

"At least Ronaldo has proved himself as a Manchester United player so we know where we stand with him.

"For Heinze the opportunity to start his career with us has now been taken away from him."

Ferguson says that Ronaldo's participation in Athens, along with his Euro 2004 adventures, mean that he may need to be rested until November.

"We might not use him until November, which is absolutely ridiculous," he added.

"It is a natural thing to want to play for your country but I don't think the two players' careers are being considered here."

We need a central midfielder too replace Keane right????

Y not Maniche of Porto as he can do everything!

Just a thought!

but hes a youngster really if you think about it whereas Manche is quality but it was just a thought!

Forlan linked with Atletico Madrid
Friday, July 23, 2004

"Of course I would like to play for Atletico Madrid. "I know that they have faithful fans. I have spoken to fellow countrymen who have played for Atletico and they say once you have played there, you never want to leave. We could not reach an agreement with Atletico when I was with Independiente and then Manchester United came in with an offer. It is a proud moment for a player when a team is interested in you. Atletico are one of the biggest teams in the world and my agent is negotiating a transfer there."

As I posted yesterday, seems asthough its on......

is forlan finally gonna leave?? hahaha, like he was ok at the start of last season?? then he sucked again...just can't pull it off for Man Utd!!!

man, Heinze career might be over before it starts...Fergie said that he might find a replacement when he's at Athens and we are in that need for a defenseman!!!

what a waste... the 2 boys will be gone for so long... u can't really blame them... esp Ronaldo, he is below the under 23 age for the olympics. so its not really his fault. But hienze, he just played in the Copa America, why would he want to put his career at risk?

Yeah, I mean why the hell any professional athlete would be even remotely interested in representing their country at the biggest and most prestigious sporting event in the world is beyond me.

I'm not too sure about Bayern cos they did have stars performing for Germany in Euro 04....Milan are bringing in a near full strength squad except for some Italian stars,Celtic will also have a near full strength squad considering they didnt have much players whom went to Euro 04.Personally I think we send the weakest team there!..hahaha...but its all good,I hope the youngsters do well and force themselves into Fergie's plan for next season.

yeah...i can't wait to watch these matches...then we can see if the kids are what they worth, and hopefully Fergs can make a plan which can win, but still let Heinze play...

poor Ronaldo though...he might not be used till November as Fergs want to give him a rest (as promised) from Euro and Olympics...cause if he gets overused too much, then it will hurt his future...(Fergs is really keen in working with prospects and their future)

Yes ok then it is the biggest sporting event in the world but lets be honest football is not an important part of it. The track and field events are the integral part of the olympics and the biggest competition of the football world is obviously the world cup.
I think that the olympics football squads should consist of lesser known or even amatuer players. In the case of Ronaldo he has just played a long season, then in the euros and now the olympics. I think this is just selfish of the Portuguese FA and if (God forbid) he gets injured or something then there will a lot of anger form the utd camp

I see your point, but the fact remains that an Olympic gold medal is a pretty darn nice thing to have, regardless of whether or not football is seen as an important part of the Olympics.

The Olympics is the second biggest comp behind the World Cup, if your talking coverage and number of viewers. For prestige, however, the Games are more important for sports which do not have a comp to that of the WC, so naturally the Olympics is number one in mystique. Fergie is stupid to be arguing this though, I know if I ever had ha chance to win a gold or any medal at the Olympics, I wouldn't think twice about it.

Hows he stupid its a 19 year old kid hes trying to protect after the tiring Euros he has every right 2 complain!

He can complain if he wants to, obviously. He paid a lot of money for Ronaldo and is perfectly entitled to voice concerns about burnout and whatnot.

However, I'm not really sure what he hopes to achieve by complaining publicly. You can hardly blame Portugal's selection committee for picking him, so really it's an issue he needs tor resolve with the player himself.

With in mind that Ronaldo's only 19,I wouldnt turn down a chance to earn myself a gold medal.I mean, its the olympics and winning the gold medal is really sumthing.Still he's only 19 and looks like the fittest 19 year old yet. So,good luck to him and he can always win the premiership or champions league with us.
