Howard for me. He has the shot-stopping skills of eccentric keepers like Casillas and Barthez but without the flapping (well...most of the time).
 
Gotta be Timmy (I am biased of course).

I think Timmy played with alot of heart and balls for a goalie without a solid backline. Time after time he made big plays to keep ManU in a game, or to hold onto fragile leads.

Imagine Tim with Rio and a healthy backline. It could be amazing for you.

I still think Rooney will be a Man Utd player but after seeing Smith play, I don't think we'll need him. And a problem with this deal is, as they said on MUTV, he's still too young to cost £30mil. What if he doesn't become the player they expected him to be? Thats a lot of money wasted.
Everton are about £30mil in debt so they ain't gonna let Rooney leave for less than that.
 
rui costa would be what man u need! because man u's central midfield is all about tough tackling! Imagine Rui Costa spreading the ball around the middle of the park with ronaldo and giggs flying down both wings!!! mmmmmmm.......
 
Our team looks like the strongest it has ever been in recent years. We also have tons of options for the starting 11 unlike how its been in the past.

If we have the following as our starting 11...

...at the same time. While still having Miller, Forlan, Fletcher plus any other new signings (Rui Costa? Rooney?), free to join in whenever they're needed. I know some of these players aren't available right now but they will be by November. The second team is still good enough to beat some of the lower premiership teams too.
I'd be disappointed if we don't win the title this season. Look at how many players we have.

don't suppose you've ever heard of this man united Player called Roy Keane have you???? :roll: maybe Paul Scholes aswell???? Man Utd do not need strengthening in midfield i think at this time the team is as good as it can be we bought a defender to sure things up a brilliant forward who should have gone to euro 2004 andanother who we just bought in january whos also world class the teams just fine we don't need Rui Costa he's past it

You're right that we don't need Rui Costa. We have Keane and Scholes who's are just as good. Why buy someone so old when we already have them?

Gotta admit though it'd be a nice option and with Quieroz as coach now it'd be alot easier for him to adapt.

We'll see....
 
Well it is a loan deal so it wouldnt hurt to have him. But its only worth it if he can consistantly play as well as we know he can. It would be great if he scores goals like the one he did against England. But the main problem for me is that he'll be taking up space for someone else who should have been developing their skills.
I'd rather see someone like Kleberson play. I'm sure he could someday show his potential. I mean, he has already won the World Cup AND Copa America.

And I'm not sure what you lot think but am I the only one here who thought Bellion played well against Bayern?

By the looks of things from the Man Utd vs Bayern game,its an official game so they have to use official numbers.Bearing in mind that Smith wears number 14,Howard's old number and Carroll is staying put with 13,which will only means Howard will be promoted to the number 1 jersey.I guess Scholes will also move up to number 8 vacated by Butt and number 18 will be free.If you think of Rooney wearing 18 for Everton it would be perfect for him,would it? ;)

i think it would be a great addition, can you imagine the feeling of confidence on the field when they bring in rui costa in the 60th minute, he will come in, calm things down with his brilliant touches, keep possesion, and keep the lads in tight when united is protecting a lead, i think it is a better option then flecther, or kelberson, i think both of those players will be good, but they will learn from rui costa and keane, two very different players, but two players you can learn from non the less, i dont see how it could be a bad thing....
 
I think Rui Costa is just what United need at the moment. With all the midfielders at our disposal we lack a creative one.
 
I'm not sure about you lacking creativity. What about Giggs, Scholes, Ronaldo, Fletcher, etc?

AC Milan have comfirm that Portugal midfielder Rui Costa will signed a two-year contract with Manchester United. after it was previously denied by AC Milan's sporting director Ariedo Braida.
A report in the Portuguese press claimed that the player had agreed to join United but the Italian champions say he will play for the Rossoneri next season but today they have confirmed the news.
AC Milan's sporting director Ariedo Braida said: Rui Costa wanted to move and we are dissapointed that he is going but we wish him good luck for the near future.
Rui Costa played for the Portuguese at Euro 2004 and did have his moments of brilliance, including a wonder strike from outside the area in their quarter-final win over England.
He made his name at Benfica in a three-year spell from 1991-1994, and then moved to Fiorentina where he spent seven seasons.
The last three years of his career have been in Milan, where he has won titles in both Italy and Europe
 
that's a solid move for you if its true. Other than Scholes, I dont think you had a true playmaker in the middle who could abuse the attention the defense is gonna be giving to the wings.

Costa's career could also be revived with this move, if it holds true.
 
WOOHOO!!! still needs to be confirmed...let me check the sites tonite and tell u guys ASAP...but even if we have alot of midfielders, lots of skill and talent and creativity...or even if Costa is already past his age, i don't see what's wrong with his addition to Manchester...him, his different skills, experiences...so another great choice for Fergs to set his plays...
 
All my contacts are in the states so I've not heard anything.

It'll be a great signing for us if it comes off.

Scholsey will move back into central midfield which is his natural position, fingers crossed, abit of experience and costa's magic is what we've been missing for awhile now, remember when Fergie wanted to sign Di canio, its the same sort of thing.
 
woo hoo!! hope to see some real news about this. But i thought the rui costa move was a loan, why has it turned into a 2 year deal? but who cares!
 
So, what will be the team against Celtic tonight?

I think Giggs, the Nevilles and Saha are back. Is that true?
 
Good signing with Costa, still think he's superb. If he can settle into the pace of the English game, you could have some player there.

Well Smith scored thats a bonus but we lost o well we have lost worse.

Rui Costa i personally think hes past it but if he plays anywhere near his best then we have a world class player so we cant go wrong there can we as we have a playmaker.

Anyone see the game last night.A slightly better performance with a few real pluses.After a rush of blood early doors from Spectre with resulted in a penalty i thought he recovered well to have a good game.Same too for Eagles.A bad tackle early on left Thompson needing 5 stitches.Djemba had a good game to but the real plus for me was Richardson who now looks as if he will give Giggs some much needed competion for his place
