Manchester United Thread

Everytime I've seen Richardson play with the reserves or youth team he's always reminded me of Ryan Giggs. I sometimes think that he's intentionally trying to emulate his playing style. The way he cuts up the field before crossing is typical Giggs.

Does anyone think that man united is changing their default formation to 3-5-2,playing with 2 wingbacks, cause I think they are. After analysing their second game in the States,I think we have a new formation in our hands.3 centrebacks,1 defensive midfielder,2 offensive midfielders,2 wingbacks and 2 forwards.Personally over the last season,I think United have really struggled playing against opposition playing the 3-5-2 formation.Looks like Queiroz thought of,if we cant beat the opposition,we might as well learn from them. This is how I think the strongest team will look like with the new formation.

Looks good dosent it? Plus we still have options in C.Ronaldo,Smith and all the other mother jazz...

Dont like that formation mate, no where near enough width.

Enjoyed last nites game, the lovley landlady allowed us to stay in and watch it, crawled out at 3.30...

Anyway again it was a makeshift team,

Howard in net

G.Neville, Keano and Spector at the back.

P.Neville and Richardson as wingbacks

Sheasy and Djemba in the holding role with Eagles and Bellion swapping and Smith upfront.

Overall Celtic where the better team in terms of passing and possesion but they started with pretty much their best side, I was pleased with our performance considering the team and that playing a formation we're just not used to.

My only gripe was Sutton and Hartson, dirty bastards. Sutton was at it all night with elbows and little digs, same with Hartson, he should have been sent off, the amount of times he kicked people was out of order especially Spector, the kids what 16-17 and Hartson had to kick him, FFS

What else, Eagles is coming along well, some nice touches and not scared of going foward, Richardson looked alot better aswell, expect to see more of him this year.

Smith is gonna do a cracking job for us, he scored and infact could've had a brace last night, so the thought of him linking up with Ruud or Saha and getting service from the likes of Ronnie, Giggs and Scholes is pretty exciting. Sheasy was great in midfield, good passing and covered alot of ground I've seen him play there before and it could end up being his best position.

So all in all it was good, yeah we lost, but feck it! Our normal team would've dusted them no probs but the kids gave them a good feckin run for their money.

Looks like Fergie has drafted in some big names for the Milan game, we've got a crazy schedule this coming month so eveyone needs to get a game.

I don't believe the Rui Costa story to be honest. I mean if,
AC Milan's sporting director Ariedo Braida said: Rui Costa wanted to move and we are dissapointed that he is going but we wish him good luck for the near future.
then i'm sure some other football news site would have at least picked up on it rather than just the one report on Uniteds forums. I've even checked Milans official site and you'd think a comment like that would be on there somewhere but I found nothing.

Vann like FD said in the Celtic thread, by the end of the game we had as many reserves on as you. Howard, G. Neville, P. Neville, Keane, O'Shea and Smith all started and they're not reserves. Again, I know you were understrengthed, so I'm not fussed over the result.

As for dirty bastards, what about Eagles? He went about a foot over the top of the ball with studs showing and did Thompson's ankle, he was stretchered off after 5 minutes? And Djemba-Djemba, I lost count of the amount of karate two-footed leaping tackles he attemped.

lol at least he was going for the ball, Hartson was just kicking people after the ball had gone, hence dirty bastard, but I knew that about him and Sutton anyway....

Anyway I've seen the tackle a few times, his foot bounced of the top of the ball, believe me there is no way the kid would've done that on purpose but sutton still fouled and stamped on him afterwards.

Plus these are kids FFS, still spector held his own against that fact c*nt anyway so it'd have been a good education for him.

All in all I enjoyed the game even though we we're second best for most part.

spector looks to be a stud, and absolute class find by sir alex, he frustrated fat boy hartson all night, he also can go forward, i really like this kid....

lol thats quality!!

I spose a player who has been a dirty c*nt most of his career and doesnt mind elbowing people would never stamp on a guy after his mate had been strectchered off....

nowt like a bit of perspective...

thats so good it deserves an encore.

Vann,do you think United's gonna change to 3-5-2 for next season? I think that they are.I could do with a little change of formation as we looked kinda a tad jaded with the 4-4-2....then the 4-4-1-1 didnt work as well...maybe this time the 3-5-2 will.If a player cant change the team(We havent got that magical player),we will make do with what we have and change the way we play i guess.

well it wasnt till he came to us that he was played in defense, his distribution will get better but he defo looks a talent.

3-5-2?? i love that formation...but i can see that we use this for the first month or so since we won't have C. Ronaldo in our line-ups, but once he's back...i doubt that we will use this formation as Fergs for sure will have a place for Ronaldo...(wait, Ronaldo won't play till November...well then...yeah, i feel that we will be using this formation for some time until he's back.)

but to be honest, it looks more like 5-3-2 to me more than 3-5-2, since usually 3-5-2 uses midfielders as the wings and not defenders

Vann, big-fat-John Hartson is a fouling shit, I agree. I saw him last night, shocking display. But he is crap anyway.

Its pointless now every player has a dirty side>

But Hatrson is a fat git he looks like a older Wayne Rooney!

Fergie better reconsider his rumoured bid for Rooney. We can't market someone that looks like that.

He better not do that cos I think that winning Community Shield it is a good starter for the season, it gets the players up for the games!!

I thought the 3-5-2 was really cuz you guys dont have the defensive staff in the US to play the 4-4-2 with subs, cuz you're missing Silvestre, Ferdinand, Brown, and Heinze.

But Fergie will have to do it if he wants a better side for the CL qualifier which is much more important.

ruud and paul are staying home but the rest you said are going

i'm pretty sure that this is correct

Youth Development Officer: Brian McClair
