Manchester United Thread

It's nice to hear that Fletch is back, but I really hope Fergie isn't banking on him being of the form in 08/09. That was his only really great season imo. And what are the odds of him being back to that level?

Would rather we'd bought a younger, not debilitated version ;)

Piss poor selection from ferguson. Considering we need a stable and consistent team he sods it up. Dont want to hear any excuses of tired international players considering every other damn team has players on international duty

Buttner > Evra. Easy choice for next games. Buttner ya absolute class :D.

Why Ferguson doesn't play De Gea tho is beyond me :/.

Also, Giggs and Scholes, please no more of them. With them we play like sterile grandpa trying to have sex.

Give U21 guys a run out for once. It can pay off big time...

Nani is so wasteful.

The new King of Old Trafford.

YouTube - Butters Song - What What In The Butt

He did it in Wigan's Butt.

Info you make silly posts.

Scholes changed game wheb you were losing against Southampton a few weeks back.

He is good for end games, yes, when opponents are tired. That is correct. However, he is NOT good from the kick off.

You can't make them younger. Plus with Giggs and Scholes in squad, we play poo. We lack adventurous play.

Nani was wasteful today. Again. Can't he produce anymore?

Powell, what a debut! Take a bow to that goal xD.

Buttner like I said, one of the best on pitch. Always fun to watch such defenders ;).

Hoping to see more of them both. Could be a crazy season.

Though, next week, will be our first real big test. Anfield. Liverpool.

Happy with 3 points today.

Maybe if you'd watched the first half you'd realise what i was talking about. Some decent play in the second half but nowhere near as convincing as the scoreline suggests. Weed need a consistent team out there to build some fluidity and rythm with only minimal changes needed when required.

spot on, first half was worring at times..

can see why he rested a couple of players who had slight knocks, so in terms of selection it was a good chance for players to get a game..

we just didnt play well, champs league starts this week so playing twice a week we are gonna need a some consistency in the team,, ffs pick a keeper!

We weren't convincing for 90 minutes but still won 4-0 on a weekend when two other rivals dropped points. Could be worse.

If De Gea isn't standing in goal on Wednesday, I'm going to be seriously baffled. Fergie is playing with fire imo. Lindegaard is okay, probably top 10 prem level, but certainly not top keeper in the world material. Which is what De Gea has the potential to be. And I can't believe this is about Fulham - when he was patently fouled in the sloppy goal.

Bring on the CL.

Rooney to come off the bench and score.

Fletch to come on for some minutes.

I'd take a comfortable win but anything will do after last years debacle.

Anyone got a stabproof vest I could use for tonight? The Gala fans scare me a bit.

That would be awesome, I'd like to think the days of rushing him back are gone so he should be OK if he does make the bench.

Fletcher should get some minutes as long as the score is comfortable.

Come on then. Nothing better than a midweek nighttime CL match at OT.

Serious lineup too. Probably lose to Liverpool over the weekend, but hey, hoping tonight makes up for it!

Bloody awful we were. No different from last year at all.

The Gala fans are fucking mental as well. Was in the east right near them and they didn't shut up which was great, but then they started chanting at each other and fighting, just insane. :o

What I wouldn't give to be in the stands right now!

My view tonight :)

As long as this same team plays on sunday albeit one change, rio in for evans, ill be happy. This was our best team out there and the more they play with each other the better the understanding will get resulting in more solid and fluent performances.
Knowing SAF i wouldnt be surprised if there were aleast 5 changes for Sundays game.

Good first opening 15 minutes where we scored the goal. After that we went completely passive. Again!

Couldn't bare to watch whole game, turned it off after Half Time. We played terrible. I hope that Scholes and Giggs will retire for good. Without them retiring we won't progress imo and they are blocking possible gems from starting games :/.

We were lucky pens weren't given to Galatasaray (and 2 of them would be right calls btw). We were lucky not to concede after so many passes going misdirected. If we want to play further in CL, our game must change... Else we will have same story as last year.

Now bring on the weekend game! If we lose vs Pool I will be frustrated as the players didn't give their all vs Gala. I hope they give their all vs Pool.

I just don't understand what it is about this team.

We start brightly, get a goal and then forget to play football until we absolutely have to. Something's gotta be done about their attitudes (and even fitness possibly) because we'll end up getting caught out like last season. I long for the days when a game and start like last nights would've meant a five or six goal drubbing but then the teams in the past had serious desire to score goals, this one doesn't.

Don't know what's up with Valencia. Barely took his man on all game, every cross was terrible. Remember 09/10 when he set Rooney up in almost every game at one stage? What's happened to him?

Nani was a farce. Being given licence to roam meant he kept drifting over to near Valencia, giving the ball away and then not being able to recover as they countered down the side of the pitch he was supposed to be on. Dunno what was with the penalty either, he usually just smacks it perfectly into the top corner.

RvP and Kagawa still need time to gel I think but it was the first time I thought, we really do need Rooney up there too to provide some support for Robin.

Going to add some positivity to the thread (if it's allowed?).

I didn't think we played well, we lacked a killer instinct and we didn't press the opposition enough when they had the ball. But, I think we saw some glimpses of the football we'll be playing in the future, at times we opened them up with some fantastic one touch football between the likes of Kagawa, Nani and Carrick, but our final ball was poor (Valencia in particular) and touch in the area was a let down.

Us grinding out results is a very familiar sight and understandably frustrating, but I think given time our players will adapt to having the option of Kagawa and will learn to find the runs of van Persie. When/If that happens I think we'll be a very good team to watch indeed.

By the way, how easy do our upcoming league fixtures look, all this sandwiched between some CL and League Cup games. Should be fun.
