Manchester United Thread

Honestly, you lot sound so spoiled its quite annoying, I wonder when we do go through hard times how depressing it will be to read all the comments.

take a step back, Look at Liverpool FC, and then look at us.

See, I actually think the opposite. I watched LFC today and there was lots to be excited about. They played really well despite the result.

Anyway, I know we're spoiled. It's part of the joy of being a United fan :)

This is where the coaching/training must take the blame. I know we keep bangin on about it but under Queiroz we were alot more dynamic and astute tactically.

It was worrying because Welbeck instead of Nani aside (oh and DDG), that's the formation I'd love for us to play and it didn't work in the slightest.

Outfought and outmuscled in the middle, no pressing whatsoever (why the fuck don't we do this?) and no speed in our play. Any sort of link-up play was woefully inadequate as well.

Kagawa had a really off day but he'll need these sort of experiences. Welbeck is useless on the left (not much better up top to be fair). Cleverley goes missing when we don't have the ball so Carrick had far too much on his plate and couldn't handle it.

The full backs can't defend for toffees and who the fuck thought letting Rafael deal with Lambert was a good idea?

Lindegaard was crap too and it was this type of shite that ruined DDG's confidence in the first half of the season last year. Why drop him for one mistake? He's been our shining light since January or so.

Anyway, thank god for RvP, even with the penalty miss he's repaying us, such a bloody good player. Was nice to see us do a proper United victory and snatch it late on from the jaws of defeat. Not good for the heart but it really is the way we're supposed to win things.

Plus point as well, Hernandez looked decent when he came on. Touch was a little better and he looked like he was chasing things down more. Nice little bit of play with RvP. Could work well until Rooney comes back.

Carrick and Kagawa were off and with Young injured and Nani (no one knows whether hes dropped or got a knock or what not) we lacked width with Welbeck who actually played outwide quite well a few years back but I guess since moving centrally he found it difficult.

oh dear..

why 'oh dear'??

Falcao is up there as well, yes. But he plays in a weaker league with poor defence.

van Persie was top goal scorer in best league in world last season and has scored 4 goals in 2 matches in brand new club.

So 'oh dear' is a bit harsh..

Dropping DDG was bad enough but to publically state he was dropping him for the mistake can't have done his confidence much good.

He needs games behind a settled back four before we'll see the best of him and so it's frustrating to see what most of us would consider our "first choice" back four play but without the first choice keeper behind them.

You're taking a piss now Sir. Check how many goals Falcao scored in last 3 seasons in Europe (over 100 goals I can assure you :D).

EPL defenses has been easy to break lately. Look at how many goals team concede in EPL now and 7-8 years ago. Massive gap.

That Falcao was so poor that he scored hattrick vs Chelsea. The team that couldn't be broken by Barcelona and Bayern in CL final.

He put them to shreds. Almost alone ;).

Also if we're speaking purely of Strikers, Gomez > Van Persie.

Gomez is absolutely clinical. Came 3rd just behind C.R. and Messi in terms of goals scored last season. That's insane. ;)

Van Persie is v. good, but the best striker is taking it too far imo :P.

yeah thought that myself, we still got done on crosses into the box and Lindegaards distribution was awful throughout the game, gotta give DDG a run of games with Vidic and Rio/Evans, for a dude his age he will get better at dealing with crosses, he's got every other box ticked.

Gomez better than Van Persie?! :FAIL: :FAIL:

agreed, RVP in top tier no doubt, but best, nah he missed that boat, he'd have to be Van Basten/RVN and Bergkamp rolled into one to get into Ballon'Dor talks, im hoping a v.good champs league campaign shows he can do it on biggest stage.

Didn't Fergie say de Gea would play vs Wigan? I don't think his confidence is so much of a problem anyway, he just hasn't learned to take command of his area yet, it's a worry, but he has time on his side and fortunately his shot stopping is second to none, so that makes up for his flaws elsewhere (almost).

I just think Sir Alex is making a point of making no play undroppable this season, as seen with Rooney and Nani.

Fletcher has made our Champions League squad by the way, it's probably just a precaution in case he becomes fully fit rather than a sign he's definitely on the way back as there are no obvious omissions except Bebe :P

I think SAF was as Wilko said trying to prove a point that no one is undroppable, I still disagree with it but SAF knows best and all that.

Gomez is anything but clinical.

He needs a million chances, did you see him against Real and Chelsea at the end of the CL last season?

He scores plenty of goals because Bayern dominate 99% of the matches they play in.

I think personally lads RVP is better than Gomez. In no way is Gomez better than RVP. Gomez as Matherto said misses a Million Chances before scoring a simple goal....

Against Chelsea for example he had NUMEROUS chances to win that CL final...... we all know what happened next.

Their both very different players, I certainly think Van Persie is on a higher level.

Both score bucket loads but one has the ability to produce a moment of brilliance out of nothing and with that generally a much better 'footballer'.

The backline will be fine when smalling Evans etc settle.

You criticise the best manager in football far too much...he know better than you.

Arm chair managers lol

I would kill for a Vidic in Inter backline...You Utd supporters are spoilt with riches!!! ;)

Smalling one of the most talented young defenders I see play in PL too...he will come good but isnt he injured a lot these days??

That sounds good :))

Its definitely been a issue, last season we topped the injury chart and City were bottom.

Hopefully no one comes back from the Internationals hurt. (RVP :ANX:)

Played well for Blackburn, had a good first half of the season for us, people were calling him a future England captain and other various exaggerations (too early in his career to be saying that)During this period - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3BOTD-Gfqg&feature=player_detailpage#t=45s

But he lost a bit of confidence later on and his decision making was questionable. Not forgetting to mention he was being played in all sorts of positions, midfield, right back and I'm sure he'd believe his best position is centre back. Again, time firmly on his side.

Oh, the reports of Kagawa breaking his leg are false also, he came off at half time for Japan because he was being rested.
