This time they'll both be fully fit. :D

What do you mean?

At the end of last year both Ruud and Saha were out injured most of the time, so they couldn't play together. Now they will start the season both fully fit and ready to score goals. :D

Saha was cup tied everytime they were both fit so that was just unlucky.

Now we finally get to see the duo together.

Saha recently said that he and Ruud can give United fans something they didn't have since the days of Cole and Yorke.

Sounds good innit? Just for the record,I had my season started earlier on my CM0304 with the euphoria update,Saha and Ruud had 26 goals between them in just 14 games.

I don't like the look of these Real Madrid - Ruud links again. :l

dude Ruud aint going to Madrid, he said he'd rather retire than play for them.

Sir Bob on the fat boy..

Bobby C, one of the most disliked 'favourite sons' in United's history has uttered the final words on the Wayne Rooney transfer story which persists in the papers.

"I think he's quite happy at Everton and I don't see any reason why he shouldn't stay there," said Charlton.
"At the moment Alex has not come to us demanding: 'Let's have Wayne Rooney'. We are quite satisfied with what we've got."

Charlton, still a director, backed comments from chief exec David Gill when he said similar to MUTV last week. So that should be the end of that.

Rooney is still valued at £35m, but this is now fifteen million less than he was last Friday.

I think these two are gonna be the best partnership in Europe this year, by his own standards Ruud had a pretty average season in Europe and The Prem and Saha never really got started due to niggling injuries and being cup tied. They both compliment each other, luckily saha isnt as ruthless as Ruud and will come up with a few assists.

So it looks like Smith and Ole are gonna have a fight on their hands, and thats the way it should be.

I ave to say iwatched the last two argie games just to see what HEINZE was like.Although some of the opposition was not the best he looked very solid. As for a strike force it has to be Rudd and Saha.I cant remember ever having a front man with the pace of Saha

Andy Cole?
Yea fair point but Saha really seems to have that bit extra.i.e his goal at Fulham when he burst through the middle.Anyway exciting times ahead.Anyone know anything about Rossi and Pique

Another addition to the training staff:

Manchester United have hired top fitness coach Valter di Salvo to join Sir Alex Ferguson's Old Trafford backroom team.

The 40-year-old Italian, who worked with returning Red Devils assistant boss Carlos Queiroz at Real Madrid last season, was criticised by David Beckham for the England skipper's lack of fitness during Euro 2004.

Beckham though appears to be in a minority when assessing di Salvo's skills.

Di Salvo likes to use high-tech methods to measure fitness and will produce individual computerised programmes for every player.

The newcomer was at United's Carrington training ground today and completes Ferguson's coaching team for the new campaign, with Queiroz back alongside the long-serving Scot following his ill-fated year at the Bernabeu.

Sounds similar to McClaren, he's bang into all the technoligical side of training and after a year without (what I call) a proper coach, im sure we'll see the benefits of having such high quality coaching staff.

Thats how I got them numbers lined up in my patched game, cause its the only reasonable change I could think of.In that link that I posted above, strangely there were no pics of the new players, that's Smith and Miller cause Heinze is still in Peru.

Did you guys see sir Bobby Charlton play with the Figo XI? He got in a couple of good crosses. Naturally he fell back from CF to DMF after a few minutes.

Heinze 2 the olympics?

Manchester United may not have Gabriel Heinze for the season's start, after Argentina boss Marcelo Bielsa named the defender in his provisional 30-man Olympic squad.

Heinze is currently away on international duty with Argentina for the Copa America - but the defender has also been included in Bielsa's plans for the Olympics in Athens.

United were aware that Heinze had international commitments when they bought him, but with the player being over 23, will have been hopeful that he would not be included for the Olympics.

Of the final 18-man squad only three players are allowed to be senior, and it still seems likely that Argentina will plump for other players for the tournament.

For the meantime, Sir Alex Ferguson faces an anxious wait to see if Bielsa selects Heinze for a tournament that has its final on August 28.

Provisional Olympic Squad: Pablo Cavallero, Fabbricio Coloccini, Javier Saviola, Javier Zanetti, Cristian Gonzalez, Gabriel Heinze, Juan Pablo Sorin, Diego Placente, Roberto Ayala, Andres D'Alessandro, Facundo Quiroga, Cesar Delgado, Luciano Figueroa, Nicolas Medina, Mariano Gonzalez, Mauro Rosales, Leandro Fernandez, Javier Mascherano, Luis Gonzalez; Roberto Abbondanzieri, Carlos Tevez, Clemente Rodriguez, Wilfredo Caballero, German Lux, Nicolas Burdisso, Gonzalo Rodriguez, Walter Samuel, Osmar Ferreyra, Pablo Aimar, Maxi Rodriguez.

:x

My thoughts on the Argentina - Uruguay game:

Heinze played pretty well. Whenever he was called upon to make an interception, he made it. Very good in the air and had a few chances from corners. He didn't really have to defend against Forlan (Ayala did that job) but when he did he did decent.

Forlan had his usual game. He was quiet for about 60 minutes then he was put up front on his own. Surprisingly he did ok for a small guy up against the hard-knock Ayala and Heinze.

The match ended 4-2 Argentina. Very enjoyable game.

Also, Tevez really impressed me. Good touches with the ball, VERY fast and he set up Argentina's last goal.

well im only in my third season in the 1st so the bulk of the team is still the default team, it took two seasons to get out of the 2nd div, and I always do that without buying players.

I've added Ronnie and Larrson to the attack, Enrique and Ballack to midfield and Puyol and Heinze to the defense.

Who you got in your United team?

No current United players although they definatly will be bought, current -

............Kelsen
Evra Mexes Vornander Edingson
..............Appiah
Joaquin......................Vicente
...............Kapo
.....Gilardino...Chevanton

Are Heinze's stats in your game the default ones ?

Well I never saw this coming...

MANCHESTER United have found themselves in the transfer frame over speculation linking Javier Saviola with a switch to the Premiership.

Reports in Spain say that an unnamed English club are in talks with Barcelona about a possible move for the Argentine hitman.

And United are firm favourites, according to the Spanish press, to be the club currently targeting the striker.

Although a favourite son of the Nou Camp, Saviola's bumper £2.5m a year pay packet is proving a burden on the financially troubled giant, and they are looking to either move him on or have him take a pay cut.

The 22-year-old is highly regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe, although whether or not he is a United target or just the subject of paper talk by the Spanish press will remain to be seen.

hmm interesting...
prob just paper talk though. i think if we do sign another striker this summer (which i am beginning to doubt now) then it would only be rooney

nah mate the club has gone cold over rooney.

I'd defo be suprised to see Saviola but if we did and it was the right press then i'd be happy to see him at OT.

yeah i'd be happy with him singing. he would compliment ruud well, being a little, fast and exicting player.
this one could be interesting....

He's a good little player. A change from our hard working Ruud, Saha and Smith like players. He is also VERY fast and can finish well.

Simon Cowell will be shitting it from you mate. Sorry, couldn't resist. :D

Saviola sounds good if it's true. It'll be interesting to see if any other strikers are bought in the next few weeks.
