Anyone else think Suarez and Freddie could be related?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Weird first half. Both teams very 'safe' in possession. Young and Nani look seriously off the pace, and Hernandez keeps losing the ball.

Good news is Cleverley is back and still looks the real deal. Not sure if he misplaced a single pass in the first half.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Damn it! Valencia Hamstring - 4 weeks out.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yet again our injury curse strikes.

Worse that it should happen to perhaps our most in form player as well.

I'd fucking love us to get Quieroz back, his attention to detail was invaluable in keeping our players injury free.

Hell even Hargreaves was fit for most of 07/08.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Good win and that should be all

Regarding Valencia massive blow as it looked like he could create something every time he touched the ball tonight.

At least Young should have got some confidence from that goal.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Rewatched the game again and I must say...Tom Cleverley kept possession each time he has the ball.Lost it only about three times in the hour he played? Really impressive return to fitness.

Cant say the same for Nani though, his decision making and greed got the better of him on numerous occasions in the game.He has time to regain it all back now that Tony V is out for a month at most.

Glad that Phil Jones is back now, didnt look as if he was away too.
Fabio played a blinder,he is tactically more astute and composed compared to Rafa.

Great professional win overally.Lets wrap it up next week at Old Trafford.GGMU.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

40 some days later, buried in the middle of the paper, we get another wondrous example of British press:

"On January 7 we published a story, headlined on the print edition's front page, suggesting Wayne Rooney could be sold in the January transfer window because of a damaged working relationship between him and Sir Alex Ferguson ("Ferguson willing to sell Rooney during transfer window", by James Lawton). We said there was a strong feeling around Manchester United that Sir Alex believed he had "lost control of Rooney". We now accept that the working relationship between player and manager is strong and are happy to reiterate the statement, issued jointly by Rooney and Manchester United on the night of publication (and included in our story in later editions), that player and manager look forward to working together for seasons to come. We also accept that no moves were made to sell Wayne Rooney during the January transfer window."

So that EXCLUSIVE BREAKING BIGGEST STORY EVEER???!! We kinda made it up.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Apparently, if we beat Ajax tonight we won't have any remaining Saturday fixtures (not that we got many anyway). The potential title decider & derby game has already been shifted to a Monday night...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It's a bit shit but the Thursday scheduled games are our own fault so nothing to complain about really.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

As much as I like Ajax, I hope we absolutely batter them tonight.

Been a while since we absolutely twatted a team (at least scoreline wise) and with City beating Porto 4-0 it'd be a nice riposte.

Plus if we go 2-3 up we can play the likes of Pogba for longer.

:OOOH:

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'd take any result really. Am not going to get to watch so pretty gutted, but it'll seriously damage us to throw away a lead like the one we have. Could see us conceeding from a long ranger (Ajax took tons of potshots last game) but should see it out.

1-1 or maybe 2-1 to us I think.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Ugh, just seen that apparently Pogba has 'recruited' Italian 'super agent' Riola to represent him. The fat f*ck that represents Baolotelli and is constantly saying how Mario 'loves Milan' and 'will return home' and so forth.

And shock and awe, now Pogba - who is now firmly training with the first team of one of the biggest clubs in the world at 18 - is looking to move on, presumably so that his greasy new agent can feed his coke habit. United have offered him a contract at at least £20k a week (figures are unconfirmed) with plenty of incentives, but that's not good enough apparently.

I know there is obvious hypocrisy here - we poached him from Le Havre - but I just cannot understand his motivation to leave to a new country (all reports suggest Italy - where his agent has contacts) when he's just now moving into the first team at United. It's not like moving to Italy will solve homesickness or anything.

It's just like Ravel Morrison - apparently if West Ham get promoted he'll be on £65k a week. Despite never having started a first team match in senior football.

I guess it's just scary as a fan of a club that don't have a sugar daddy. Already the top stars are off limits to us as City will just double wages and dodge FFP, and now even our strategy of getting in 16 year olds and training them into the first team is going to fail as the entitled little kids get agents promising them huge wages despite being as unproven as I am at senior level.

Football sucks so much these days. When does baseball start up again?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Fed up of complacent performances/lineups now.

When was the last time we played a proper team and absolutely battered someone?

8-2 against Arsenal springs to mind but games like that are so few and far between nowadays.

Terrible midfield performance tonight, far too open, no protection for the defence which was critical given how young they are.

Nani was useless, Berba not much better.

The less said about Ashley Young the better, he's so fucking shite it's unreal. Hate seeing him in the team.

Chicharito took his goal well, his touch was good and his passing was also decent tonight, glad to see he was the positive in an otherwise dire performance.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It was pretty dire, hopefully the more senior lads get it together for the weekend.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Aye, I'm getting extremely annoyed at how often we start pissing around when 2 or 3 goals up in a game.

You would've thought they'd learned from our CL exit but no...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think its simply down to it being a "new" team really, their inexperienced at this level and with it being the Europa League we won't go full strength (something I bet we will do for the CL GS next year!) and again unless we draw City or something so expect it to continue this season unfortunately.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Ashley Young is so negative at times...its like he has no/low confidence to beat his man on clear cut occasions...in this aspect,I perfer Nani to be honest.

Berba failed to lead the team from the front, should have done better.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I heard 3-4 weeks, and it's his other foot, have the club confirmed it yet?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Worried about today's game.

No Rooney, loads of other injuries, promoted team who wanna beat the champions and they play some decent stuff. Holt and Morison up against Evans is a recipe for disaster aerially as well.

One of those types of games that defines a season, we seriously need to win but highly likely we'll drop points.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I fucking love this club.

Unlucky Norwich, they played so well but we just don't give up.

Giggsy, tearing you apart since 1991, 900 appearances and still going strong. Absolutely ridiculous.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Really happy at the moment obviously, but at 90mins i'd of been ready to complain about our complacency lately... We need to finish teams off!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Finishing has been off for a few games now. Welbeck is great, but needs to become more clinical.

Still, can't knock a 2-1 win the two goalscorers being Scholes and Giggs. Timewarp.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I find it amusing (cause we won) and extremely frustrating how we start the game and score, then for some reason can't create a chance for 75 minutes and concede and just at the flick of a switch in 3-4 minutes we've created 4-5 great chances.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

it´s quite unbeliveable to look at United scoresheet and see Giggs and Scholes as the goalscorers...

it´s something realy crazy in good way...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Giggs made his debut 23 days before my 1st birthday.

Can't quite get my head around the fact he's still playing and scoring winning goals right now.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

true.. it´s unique..i wonder how long will BOTH continue... if Scholes won´t stay further than just untill this season end...

oh and btw:
