Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

That's as good as it gets!!!

Yup, full stretch that. I like to think he gave Mata the whole near side of the goal and basically said 'I can reach anything you put there, even if it's in the top corner'.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yeah, that was a crazy save! Must feel so nice to be a goalkeeper in moments like that! You feel like SUPER man!

Mata couldn't have hit it ANY better either!! A free kick well worthy of a goal! A great goal it would've been but an even better save stopped it!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Think we have a game on tomorrow, not sure who we're playing though. :P

Cleverly said to be involved (I guess from the bench), will be interested to see how he performs when he's back, our fans are expecting a lot from him and that's a lot of pressure, so I hope he can handle it.

Edit: Oh and Giggs has signed a one-year extension, amazing.

Good to have Cleverley back, still worried no news on Nani for tommorow, which is a shame as we'll miss him big time.

Also Giggs will never retire. Never :))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Suarez is totally going to score. I've accepted it, and the f*cking two scousers who do my commentary over here (ESPN in N. America) will say how it's vindication and some kind of justice. So, moving on from the nausea that will cause....

I still think we can win it. And we really need to win it. If we can come through tomorrow and next week (Spuds) being anyhwere near City will be in a great place to have a real go at the league. Which, given the relative strength of teams available through the year, is a bleeding miracle.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

It's alright, if Karma has it's way, he'll score and then get hit by the team bus on the way out of the stadium, driven by a black guy.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We generally do OK at Old Trafford on big match days so I think we should win but then we should have won the FA Cup tie also as we dominated it but just missed that spark and we'll be without Nani again so we'll see.

McManaman maybe ,but Ian Darke is loved here in the states! I think he does those "comments like fairytale" because he became known for his extra sound bites . Tyler is my favorite, I hate those 2 on La Liga though they have very annoying voice and a lovefest for every player that dribble the ball past 2 defenders.

I do understand what you mean like everytime a team is leading he always say. Do you remember the time Newcastle came back from a 4- nil vs Arsenal... Well, anything can happen in this game. :COAT:

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Wow, I can't stand Ian Darke. His favourite things in football are wrongly given penalties that he can harp on about for hours and wrongly given marginal offsides that he can harp on about for hours. He genuinely seems to be upset when there's good football on display and nothing controversial going on.

He also seems to hate United. Not sure when they pissed on his foot, but every match involving them he is clearly rooting for the other team. McManaman is normally the balancing act. I can't remember which match but United conceded a corner which was about 8 yards from goal and it went like:

Darke: Well there's more evidence that De Gea just isn't a premier league keeper, flapping at yet another cross.
McManaman: That's really not the keeper's ball to be fair to the lad.
Darke: Yes Steve, but as a winger you'd of been drooling over a keeper who is so bad on crosses.
McManaman: He's having a good game though, and he's young.
Darke: Yes the headline writers will have their knives out tomorrow.

He's like the Sun of commentary.

You know who I love? The random dude that does all the Bundesliga on ESPN3. One man, great knowledge, no partiality towards either team, focuses on the football and just seems to love watching. Must be why he never gets premier league matches, which I swear the commentary now is paid to create controversy when there is none, so they have to talk about halftime, and then print in their papers.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Feel like its a rerun of the last game, Were dominant but lack a creative spark in front of goal, Berbatov or Hernandez are needed IMO

EDIT: or Rooney will do!:))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I bloody love Patrice Evra.

Celebrations at the end had me in absolute stitches, right in front of Suarez too. What an absolute lad.

We were comfortable but we conceded a sloppy goal, expected an onslaught from Liverpool for the last ten but they weren't/aren't good enough.

Rafael and Evans had their best games all season as well, solid as a pair of rocks.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Much needed win, keeping the pressure on City. Rafael and Valencia were men of the match for me, Valencia continues to be unplayable at the moment.

A bit nervous at the end of the game, baffled at why we didn't make any substitutions, Giggs in particular looked tired and we had options for once. Can only assume Fergie was worried about the players not being able to match the intensity of the game when they came on.

As for the other incidents in and before the game, I see no point in commenting on them, it was televised for the world to see and they can make there own opinions.

Edit: Infact, I'm annoyed it's still going to be talked about for weeks to come.

Also is it wrong Scholes has surprised me with his form? I thought he retired at the right time, he'd made a couple mistakes at the time and it seemed the correct decision to retire. But he's been incredible since he's been back, he's even made a few timely tackles!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Scholesy was brilliant at the start of last season but he can't do an entire season anymore.

He's had a six month break and come back fresh and raring to go, perhaps we should offer him a 6 month contract every year.

Such a beautiful spectacle watching Paul ping balls about the pitch like it's absolutely nothing. Second nature to him.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Great win and top of the league!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I dont know whether to enjoy Scholes at the minute or be down about our options. I mean he's a level above our options and he's a player who retired and decided to come back at 37? Is he still THAT good OR are our options that low that Scholes can go hiking for 6 months and stroll back in as be the shit compared to everyone else.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Scholes is unreal. Not played a professionnal game for 6 months and then comes back and dictates games as if is was never gone. He's just that good IMO. Helps that Carrick is having is best season ever as well.

Evans as solid as a rock. Him too is having a very good season. And Evra acquired legenday status today. Loved the celebration.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Evra looked very upset by the snubbed handshake ,almost like if it was plan beforehand to do so. To be rumored abt a bust up in tunnel btw Evra asking about the snub sort of confirms it.

Rooney`s 1st goal was nice!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Sums the scumbag Evra up.

Poor match again with these teams.

Scholes needs a knighthood, the guy is THEE footballing professional of my life time.

It would have been Giggs had he kept his head down off the pitch too.

I worry about the future of football when I see two over 35 year olds running things when the kids of today can't do jack shit.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Can't do jack shit? What planet are you living on? There are loads of talented youngsters out there.

Not everyone can be a Scholes or Giggs.

A bit of both.

We really need someone, anyone to come in and bolster our options, but I understand it's so hard because you simply cannot replace Scholes. He really is THAT good.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I find it crazy the response Evra is getting after this, after being racially abused he decided to shake Luis Suarez's hand before the match (little did we know Suarez would turn on his and Liverpool FCs word) and was visibly emotionally pissed of when Suarez snubbed him.

Evra had EVERY right to celebrate like that at the end, hell he could have got tips from Neville at half time if he wanted to prepare.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Had Suarez shaken his hand, I would have found Evra's reaction childish and inappopriate. But as that wasn't the case, I was actually quite happy that he took the piss right in front of Suarez. :APPLAUD:

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Suarez know releasing a statement that "He's Sorry", Meh bullshit really. Liverpool really should get rid of him.
