Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Very sterile match. Pretty bummed I bothered getting up for it! Still, if you'd told me we'd only lose 2-1, at Anfield, without Rio, Vida, Rooney, Nani and Cleverley...I would hardly be surprised.

I don't know who to blame for our injuries this year, but just saw a stat that Scholes is our only player who hasn't missed a match due to injury this season. That's not sustaibale, and coupled with Fergie's failure as a manager to get us a f*cking midfield, means we're now only really in the league. And it's not even February.

Welcome to Glazernomics. Oh and worst of all? We sold The One.

Whatvthe fuck control do the glazers have over injuries?

Disappointed with that, had them on the back foot for large portions of the game but lacked the killer touch that a Rooney/Nani figure would've provided.

Taking Scholes off gave the initiative back to them but we still looked comfortable to draw until we shot ourselves in the foot.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

who like anderson, fletcher, jones, cleverley, carrick, ashley young, valencia, park or nani? i see your point, but fail to see how that is the glazers issue.

Because we shouldn't have to start a crucial match with a retired 37 year old and a 38 year old in the middle of the park. Nor an inexperienced defender (Jones). We should have sorted this problem years ago.

Then again, Scholes absolutely pissed all over Adam and Gerrard - so maybe Fergie just doesn't want to settle for anyone less.

Dunno, obviously annoyed that we're out of all of the cups now, and we're likely not to win the league either given City's resources.

I give Fergie all the credit in the world that we're even near Chelsea/ City given what we've spent in the past 6 or 7 years. But I can't help but be f*cked off that we're the most profitable club in the world, and can't afford to pay top wages or bring in top talent.

Anyway, this game was always a one off, and to be honest, the odds of us making it through Eastlands and then Anfield in consecutive rounds was always slim.

More than anything else, I just wish we could start playing some good football again. We've only looked fluid a handful of times in the past 3 season if we're honest.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

As you said, Scholes still has it! brilliant performance from him today, we just lacked a Rooney or Nani as you said. I think we can cope without 1 but need atleast the other.

Jones didn´t play yesterday and i think Scholes and Giggs were your best players, together with Carrick and Rafael..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Uncle Malc and his motley crue are apparently richer than ever before according to Forbes.

$2.7 billion net worth.

He could pay top wages if he really wanted to...

We really do need a new midfielder or two, have done for as long as I can remember. It's astonishing that we haven't bought someone though I guess we do need to remember we did try and buy Nasri and Sneijder last summer.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

#MUFC team of absentees: De Gea, Lindegaard, Vidic, Jones, Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley, Young, Nani, Owen, Rooney :O

So Kuszczak and Amos as GKs today... De Gea is probably sick and Lindegaard have some injury that probably will exclude him from the matches with Stoke and Chelsea or even more. They say that the injury could be major - even a rupture of ankle ligaments.
Why are we so fucked with injuries? :/

Is that confirmed? Remarkable.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I have a habit of never believing stories about our injuries, because half the time the supposedly injured player will end up starting the match, but our injury problems this season are fairly indisputable.

Do we work our players too hard in training perhaps? It's just hard to comprehend how we could be this unlucky.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Well Quieroz was known for his work with the players on the fitness/medical side of things.

Look at the injury crises we've had since he left. Having to play Fletch and Carrick in DF against Fulham in 09/10 because pretty much all our defenders were injured, sure we had issues last year as well.

Perhaps we need to look at the staff rather than the players, get Carlos back in any case because he's a perfect number 2.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Man Utd: Amos, Smalling, Ferdinand, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Carrick, Scholes, Park, Berbatov, Hernandez

Subs: Kuszczak, Giggs, Welbeck, Fabio Da Silva, Rafael Da Silva, Pogba, Will Keane.

Happy with that team, Berbatov to score and then vanish from the squad the next match.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Will be interesting to see how Rio, Evans and Amos handle both Jones and Crouch up front. That's a lot of physicality.

I hate watching Stoke play. Really sucks they're nowhere near relegation again this year. Guarantee at least half a dozen nasty challenges from 'good hard honest professionals'.

Edit: God we're in the 4th minute and Stoke are already wasting time on goal kicks and throw ins. Disgraceful team.

Great performance. Scholes and Carrick were magestic, barely gave Stoke a sniff.

Superb little cameo from Pogba too, hoping our 'ravel savings' can go straight into the sign Pogba pot of gold.

Oh and go on Gibbo!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What a great night!

Tidy performance from United, Agent Gibson scores against City (What is it with ex-United players doing us a favour?) and Pogba has his Ronaldo vs Bolton moment.

This could be a turning point.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Gibson gave you a nice present today, well he gave it to whole league... ;)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I think it's possible he'll get some games, especially considering our injury problems. But I don't really know enough about him to say for sure.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

and City have Hargreaves, you'd think that'd help them climb the table. They have been especially lucky with injuries, that can't continue can it?

its shocking really but not having Toure feels like a injury. Why doesnt Fergie buy Africians?
