Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

to be fair we make easy work out of it 9/10, we were bound to be a bit sloppy one year.

I am slightly not as confident to what our first choice back four is and if it includes Rio?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Alright, I give up:

Cleverley out til the new year.
Anderson out until February - in Portugal getting another knee operation.

So our true midfielders are: Carrick, Fletcher and Gibson.

There is no excuse for this Gill/ Fergie!!!

I say screw the league this year, bring in Pogba now. He's not going to be any worse than Gibson.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

He was immense in the MLS playoffs...and he's better than Gibbo!

(plus he'd probably play for free :) talk about value!)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'd definitely go back to OT to see him. What a player he was. His will to win was better than almost any other player I've ever seen. Didn't have all of the physical attributes, but the man is a winner.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Anderson really needs to take a look at his fitness/lifestyle. It's no coincidence he's getting these recurring knee injuries.

At least we've got Carrick and his evil Irish twin, so no worries.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Becks? Is it the time for a big comeback now?

:...

I think I'd die of happiness if we get Becks back, even for a short term loan till the end of the season. My absolute idol growing up and still one of my favourite players/celebrities.

Absolutely, 100% guaranteed to never, ever happen but we can dream.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Would be very welcomed, position we need aswell (cm) as we have very little at the moment with injuries

Also been linked with rasmus elm of az alkmaar, personally think would be pretty decent signing but ferguson ruled out signing anyone during winter, although surely with injuries and lack of depth in midfield, we'll surely sign someone

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'd LOVE to see it happen too but sadly don't think it will. :(

Probably off to warm the bench in Paris.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't expect SAF to bring in anyone. I think Pogba will be regarded as an option from next season and Morrison won't be far behind.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I really don't understand why ref's get so much protection, if they had a bad performance, surely the manager has a right to criticize, awful decision cost us 2 points and the stage we're at, we can't afford to be dropping points.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Sigh, Not sure whether to be fuming at the linesman for giving a penalty and then hoping they make it right at the end by looking past the offside (unbelievably good call in the 95th - took some balls that!).

The chances in the last 15 minutes though, amazing how we didn't score. something which has pissed me off quite a bit is why do we avoid Nani in the last few minutes when we need a moment of magic but decide not to give it to the most likely player capable.

:((

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

That penalty decision.

Dearie me, sometimes you wonder how qualified these officials really are.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

just to add to Becks discussion, PSG are buying him and they know why.. he will do the same for the club as he did for LA Galaxy.. he will be their star signing, not maybe as important on pitch as on marketing side.. it would be a miracle if United took him from PSG move that seems to be reality soon..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Definitely. Becks is a marketing machine. What better way to get international recognition from PSG. They might even get a few American fans who follow brand Beckham.

I'm starting to hope this season is more about building the team then winning things. If we can bed in Cleverley properly (and he hardens up a bit) as well as Young, Smalling, Jones and De Gea, I think it'll be a great platform. Plus the twins, Chicarito and Welbeck need time out there.

I still think we're desperate for a midfielder, but what can we do. I kind of see Fergie's problem that the perfect option isn't available, but man there are loads better than what we have.

City winning the league at some point is an inevitability, so I'd kind of rather we really went with youth and then made our stand a few years down the road.

Speaking of which, word is Morrisson is going to play on Wednesday, which should be interesting...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Take Young out.

He's rubbish.

Well, not rubbish, but about as average as you can get, he's being found out for what he is.

I'm not sure. He looked awesome at the start of the season, but has struggled with a broken toe for the past couple of months.

I'd love to say let him bed into a consistent team, but Fergie appears to have decided never to do that anymore. Then again, one more injury in midfield and we'll only have 2 mids, so that'll keep it consistent ;)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Young is pretty good but so inconsistent, his crossing is pretty crap in all honesty and lacks the pace power of Valencia and the tricks of Nani to beat his marker so ends up having a bit of both without excelling at either.

I do think we should have been more adventurous (especially since we already had good options) in terms of signing a LM but it's done now and he definitely adds a new dimension with his directness to cross or shoot.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We tried to get Sanchez apparently, but obviously his stock rose out of our league.

There's always Tosic ;)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

i have to agree on Young.. i think he is sometimes the weak link in United squad...he often uses his tricks, but i just can´t help thinking he´s not the long term solution for United wings...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Young is beginning to be too predictable at times...Dribbles left, cuts in right and crosses...thats it...his final ball is more hopeful than accurate. Our best winger by far now is Nani. His dribbling is so tricky now.I lost count on how many times Nani, dribbles his way out of trouble against Newcastle.Terrific.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Not liking all these rumors about Pogba leaving for essentially free in January. To be fair, none of them have a word from the player himself, and could just be the usual media scum doing their scumminess, but if we let him go cause Fergie trusts in Darren f*cking Gibson I'm going to have a small conniption.

Other than that, looking forward to the CC game tonight. Hoping to see a good number of hte fringe players get a run out, and maybe give Smalling and Rafael some time for fitness. Think we've missed both lately.

Am still willing to give Young a chance. To my mind, he's better than both Park and Valencia out on the left, so is an upgrade, though maybe a minor one.

I think playing Chicharito all game is what is really killing us at the moment. For all his loveable finishing, he just doesn't offer enough else imo. Great super sub, want him more in the Ole mold than the starting role.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Young is more than a minor upgrade on generally what we've had on the left, I just thought Welbeck could have grown into a playing their along with being upfront.

Hernandez has to play Beachryan, he scores goals and unless we find someone else capable of doing that it's pointless having so many creators without a consistent scorer.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Nice, as a follow up to my earlier Pogba worry - an apparently 'itk' has said City have approached his agent and offered him FIVE TIMES whatever United offer. For, you know, filling that gaping hole they have in midfield.

Tbh, f*ck off City. You've already bought the best team in the world, at least let us poor clubs that need to make money develop our youth players.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Man, not really a 'youth' squad:

------------Amos------------
--Rafa--Smalling-Evans-Fabio-
-----------Gibbo-------------
-------Park--Valencia--------
--Diouf----Berbs----Macheda--

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Fergie set us up to fail tonight. Awful team selection, awful bench and awful tactics.

Diouf put in what may be remembered as the worst ever performance by a United forward. If he ever pulls the jersey on again I'll be shocked.

The twins were both injured in 60 minutes. Shock.

The biggest annoyance for me was Park though. My God he was terrible. Mindblowingly bad. I get that he has his uses, but he's a winger who is slow, can't dribble, can't cross and has no first touch. Also at fault for the goal, and was just generally a pub player.
