Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

The only person then has to be snjieder , the only one that could hand Mutd the CL imo

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Amazing how little his face has changed from child to current age.

His assist yesterday for Mexico's first showed that he isn't just a poacher. Give him more confidence and watch him show off the other assets he has.

Top scorer and MVP in the Gold Cup on the back of a great first season and WC before that.

Trully one of the best signings we've ever made.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Real Madrid are gonna come for him next summer. You can put your money on it.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Hahaha probably.

And he really does look like a lesbian! :D

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Will be really interesting to see how Fergie rotates the wings this season. I'm assuming we'll keep Nani - would be pretty mad not to. I see Young as a like for like replacement for Giggsy, though he can obviously play in the hole too.

With the players now available to him, Fergie could go back to the fluid 4 we had with Tevez a few season ago:

------CMF----CMF------
-Valencia-Nani-Young--
--------Rooney--------

With all 4 players switching positions throughout. Does raise questions about how Berbatov and Hernandez fit in though.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Like I said before. There's no way Chicharito isnt gonna start every game. If anything, we'll probably move Rooney into another position if we have to. Hernandez has too much momentum going and stifling his run would be a huge mistake.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I can see us using Giggs in the middle instead of on the flanks this season, allowing Young, Tony V & Nani to rotate along with Jason Park.

If Gibson moves on (come on Sunderland!), that'll most likely give Cleverley his chance in the team. Still hoping we bring in a marquee playmaker though, unless SAF thinks Rooney can do a job there...?

Kind of agree, but also think people are getting a bit carried away by his first season success. Parts of his game are still not up to the level that you'd expect from a United striker - namely hold up play and general teamwork. Obviously he'll learn and get better, but if we're sticking him up top by himself, we'll really struggle to hold possession. Especially if De Gea or whoever has VDS's love of hoofing at the smallest two players on the pitch (Roon and Chica) every time he gets it.

It is, of course, a nice problem to have, but I just don't get how you fit the following players into a team: Rooney, Chicarito, Berbatov, Valencia, Young, Nani.

They're all good enough to start, and will expect at least 40 games in a season if fit. I just don't get how it's possible.

And that, of course, ignores Welbeck, Macheda, Owen, Diouf, Park, Obertan etc.

Just seems like our squad balance is a bit off.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Hernandez will start Beachryan, He proved he's good enough last year. the side of

Valencia--Young--Nani
--------Rooney--------

Is weaker, Young V Rooney in that position theirs no contest, Rooney's a much better playmaker, much better long passer, Young's a better dribbler but Rooney is much better in that role.

Rooney v Hernandez up top. Rooney's scored 35? Hernandez 20. Hernandez and Rooney both have great movement but the former edges it IMO, He's quicker than Wayne and a better finisher who is improving at quite a rate. Your putting Rooney (DEFINITELY WITHOUT SCHOLES our most creative player) in a position which requires nothing but the tap in when we have a player who specialises in that and in that very role has the potential to be just as dangerous.

Valencia IMO maybe the one who loses out most IMO.

Nani---Rooney--Young
------Hernandez----

It's that damn Nani/Valencia conundrum, isn't it?

I'm pretty sure Nani getting more games on the right was part of the thinking behind signing Young, even if that is harsh on Valencia who was brilliant after recovering from that horrible injury.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I bet Park will move on and Valencia will fill his role in the squad and on the pitch.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We'll see. The one nice thing about real options on the wings is that they're a great option with 30 minutes left. Imagine if you'd played against:

-Valencia-----------Nani--
------Rooney--Berbatov----

for 65 minutes, and two subs later you've got:
-Nani--Rooney--Young--
------Hernandez-------

For the rest of the game. That's brutal.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'd be fine with that. Especially if we can get c. 7-10m for him.

That was my thinking when we signed him with Ronaldo on the left but theirs no way Valencia suits the "Park" Role having seen him over the last 2 seasons. The 4 of them will just rotate with Nani being the most likely to play the most.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I thought your lot rated Park extremely highly and that you thought he was one of the main parts of your team?

I like him, but he's just not quite good enough quality for our first XI. It depresses me that our coaches can't get a more talented player to offer his tactical discipline, but I would always rather we had a proper attacking player in his position on the pitch.

His touch, vision, shot and long passing is just not good enough for most games. He's best when his role is just to run around a lot, and play little short passes. I just like to see more from our wingers.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yup.

It seems a bit harsh, but I just don't think there are many things on a football pitch that Park can do that Young or Valencia couldn't.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

His workrate and off the ball movement is pretty great. he's a decent link up player also. If we were looking for a upgrade then Alexis Sanchez would have given us his workrate + the attacking talent. you can't have it all though ;))

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

spending a bit of cash I see... what is it now £55m this could very be £80m by the end of the window. Enough to over throw Barca? !believ4!

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

where in my post did I ask about where the money came from I`m no accountant crushing numbers and whatnot  Im not dagsJT
It was meant to be a joke about the £80m figure you brought up... :P

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

£80m surely its more with incentives :P mmm £30m left that can seal a deal for any player .

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

What's going to be really interesting is which players now leave, and how much we manage to raise from their sales. I could realistically see us selling (and at least getting something for):

Kuszcak
Brown
O'Shea
Gibson (though I think he might be kept as backup)
Park
Macheda
Diouf

And that's discounting any of the reserve/ youth players getting sold to lower league teams.

Should be able to recoup at least a few bob :)

Leaves us with, I think:
GK: De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos
FB: Rafael, Fabio, Evra
CB: Rio, Vida, Jones, Smalling, Evans
CM: Carrick, Fletcher, Giggs, Anderson
SMF: Nani, Valencia, Young, Obertan, Cleverly
FW: Rooney, Berba, Hernandez, Owen, Welbeck

I've probably missed something, but that does look pretty quality to me.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Macheda's another one who's had rave posts in here, but now you're expecting to sell? What's going on here?!
