Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

The only thing I can think of is that Young gives us options. At the moment an injury to Valencia or Nani means we have to play Park or Obertan. Not really good enough imo, especially when we're so reliant on our wings for attacking opportunities.

He's better than our 3rd choice, and will allow Fergie to keep all 3 fresh. I think that's all it's about.

I hope we do get Jones, but I don't want us to get into some legal battle with Blackburn's rather inexperienced owners. If they want to run their club that way fine, see how many players sign for them over their rivals. Firing Big Sam, going from midtable to almost relegation, dependant on big clubs for loan players...yeah we'll be sure to hook you guys right up after this sh*t. If the owners want to come into a world they don't understand and try to use their learnings fine, but don't be surprised if it backfires.

Put another way, if you were the next Phil Jones and had the opportunity to sign for Bolton or Blackburn with the knowledge that one day you'd want to move to a top 4 side, which would you now join?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Im still confused as to what's going on here. He has a £16m release clause, right? So what's the problem?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Venky's think the £16m is a minimum, i.e. as long as a bid is greater than £16m they have to let him go. So they now want (presumably) City and Chelsea to bid up in an auction.

Of course, this after Jones has agreed and presumably mentally decided to join United. They may force him to sign elsewhere. Lovely.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So what happens if we pay the £16m release clause, Man City make a £20m bid, but the player prefers our contract offer?

they will either keep him or convince to sign for City.. i guess..

or they made up their mind about the real prize this kid has..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I read somewhere, you will try to swap Sneijder with Nani + money..

then Young signing would make sence i gues...

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

You'll get Jones today, but for £20m. We put in a bit of £22m last night which forced Utd to raise their offer.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Bloody hell, if you want to pay £22m for him you can have him!

That's Lescott levels of wtf-ness imo. How much money do you lot have?

How do you feel as a pool fan doing that - after he already rejected you for us? If he were to go to you it would pretty much clearly be against his will, and for the money?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

From what I've read, he's going to you for the money anyway. We had a deal agreed with him last weekend, Utd came in last minute and offered him £40k per week extra and he changed his mind.

If he did switch around and choose us again, I can't say it'd make him look great. Still, I think he's still going to Utd and a lot of people are suggesting that we know Utd want him so much that we're putting in high bids forcing Utd to spend more, taking more out of your budget.

If you werent planning to buy Jones this summer and are now stumping up £20m, that must surely be disrupting your original plans?

This transfer window just seems to get crazier and crazier.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Guess if you can't beat us ON the pitch... ;)

Tbh, and this isn't meant to be offensive, why would anyone choose to go to Liverpool over United right now?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I guess because we're starting a massive project and a good challenge?

80 mil. pounds transfer money apparently

we proved we can beat you or chelsea ON the pitch...our problem is thin squad for whole season to beat also the small teams.. that´s what i expect us to chainge for next season most of all..

why would anyone choose? i would ask Suarez first this question..then other who signed..

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't recall United be at all interested in Suarez. Though I do recall him saying he'd never say no to us.

So not sure I get your point?

The only reason for Jones to go to Pool over United, imo, is that he'd have a shot of starting there. It might stunt his development to go to United.

Regardless, if the rumours are to be believed, he chose us, so why would Venky greed change his mind?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

 At Sneijder "I Stay" One Week ago and know "Only God Knows" Were have I seen that before

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I'm sick of looking at Phil Jones's running and screaming picture at BBC and Soccernet, get it over with.

Tbh he can piss off to your lot.....I just hope a bidding war will make you guys pay way over the odds. ;)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Typical Liverpool fan behaviour. How's Andy Carroll working out for ya?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

haha, no offense...but as a Man Utd fan, there are lots of reasons to choose Liverpool over us...The chance to start and play more can be one, the fact that they do have new owners, new money, and do seem to be starting something like a challenge for titles can be another...so I won't say its all because of money, (But with that said, European football, training with more quality players, under a great manager, those are a few things Liverpool don't have)

I don't really see a reason for Young...and I really want the Jones saga to end...best if we just cancel the offer and see Blackburn screw themselves over because of asking too much....

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Yep, looked very composed and make some superb tackles at times. Can't say the same for Jones though, too much hoofing for my liking.

Cleverly seemed alright, Welback not too bad and a nice finish as well. Far better game than Sturridge anyway.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Great to see how much Smalling has come on this season. Was really commanding.

Agree Jones approach was a bit, erm, Blackburn esque, but at least he didn't really make any gaffs.

I don't understand all the fawning over the Spanish team though. Yes, they had loads of posession but they barely created any chances, and scored with a rather cheeky deliberate handball. Spain's main strength was actually smothering pressure, imo.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So, official now, Jones is ours.

I'd wager we caved a bit on the 'conditional payments' - so it's probably the release clause up front, with add ons if we win various things :)

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

So were in for Sanchez, (:...) Im glad that we've atleast gone for him obviously whether we can get him is a completely different matter, one thing I'll say is though if he came in and Nani left 95% of the joy of this transfer would evaporate.

Theirs not much between them right now and Nani's more proven at the moment IMO at the moment, definitely a case of another cow being more attractive than the one in your own field.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I dunno. From what I understand, some of these wingers will play in other positions. Sanchez can play through the middle, and we know Young has played behind the striker too. So its all good imo, as long as he's not our last signing.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Would love him (wanted him this time last year when there was all kinds of chat that he was a United fan and heading our way) but not at the expense of our gaping gap in the centre of the park.

To be honest, I truly believe we have 1 of if not the best combination of wide players in Europe (if we get Young it'll be Nani, Valencia, Young and Park) so I just don't see the need.

Personally I think this is all just smoke screen to push up City's bid.
