Manchester United Thread

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

We're not getting Nasri, he's just pulling a Rooney and suggesting going to a rival to get Arsenal to actually do something.

I'd be surprised if O'Shea left, surely he would've done it years ago because his situation hasn't changed and he's never kicked up a fuss.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

£55m for Young ,De Gea and Phil Jones ...mmm am I missing something  Did Mutd sell anyone ?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Again, not believing it til I see them on our website, but if we did spend that much (or a 'Torres' as I like to call it) we'll almost definitely be looking to sell some of the fringe players. Maybe a couple youth players too.

The real worry is that it's clearly a lot more than we've spent in the past few years at once, and we still don't have a central midfielder. Sneijder is staying at Milan (wasn't really the best bet anyway), Modric is staying at Tottenham (I love the player but hate giving Daniel Levy money) and I just can't think of who else would fit for us.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

According to espn, blackburn value Jones at £25m. Despite a claimed passed physical and agreed terms with the player.

this is a weird turn of events. did blackburn mistake us as the other manchester club? with Henderson at 20m, i dont see Jones at 25

Jones has a release clause of £16m though?

In saying that, it seems like something might be going on as it's still not been announced.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

The ESPN article was from Harry Harris - a reknowned 'maker of the BS' journalist.

It's also the only 'source' running that story, so I certainly don't believe it yet.

If Blackburn have truly turned around demanding more (presumably their idiotic owners just heard on Sky that a bunch of pro's thought it was good business) then I say f*ck em. If the player wants to come to us and we've met the agreed fee but now they want £10m more well cheers guys, but you can keep an unhappy player and see what it does to your team morale. It's not like they're popular with the players anyway.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

If the Young deal pulls off I cant help but Fergie is ignoring the centre midfield issue, unless someone else is lined up

Starting - Valencia Carrick Giggs Park/Young

Back up - Nani, Fletcher, Anderson, Gibson(?)

I really think its lacking one or two centre midfielders, a bruiser and a creater would be ideal

Can they do that? on a legal stand point?

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

I don't think anyone knows yet. My gut feeling is that all of the football people at both clubs thought this was done and dusted as per normal footballing contracts, but the new owners were like wait a sec, in our world when you negotiate you continue to screw people until the moment the deal is signed, so let's screw em some more!

Then again, I still don't know if there's an ounce of truth to the rumours...

Nani as back up?

Nani and Anderson should be first choice next season, unless we bring in a Modric or Nasri.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Just going by the last game thats all and Nani warmed the bench. Nasri or Modric would be a great addition, I just cant see it happening thats all

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

If we get Young, De Gea and Jones, I see our first XI (if it exists) as:

------------De Gea------------
--Rafa---Rio----Vida---Evra---
--------Carrick-Ando----------
--Valencia---Young-----Nani---
------------Rooney------------

With the front 4 basically going whereever they want, a little bit like our 'strikerless' formation from a few years ago. Could work. Hernandez and Berbatov as options, along with Giggs and Park.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Chicharito's gonna start most games so I cant see that happening. There's no way he's not gonna start after the season he just had.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

As for the signing of Ashley Young...I could see Sir Alex replicating the attacking trident that we used to have in Ronaldo,Rooney and Tevez back in 2008/2009.We simply tore our oppositions apart on the break with blinding speed. We could revert back to the more attacking 4-3-3 system.

-----------Hernandez------------
---Young-------------Rooney-----
--------------------------------
------Anderson------Fletcher------
-------------Carrick-------------

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

well, technically Nani and Young will share that spot, but I doubt Rooney will want to play in that position again...he was complaining about it so much....

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Hasn't been mentioned much, but Young's favourite position is actually as a striker or attacking midfielder and not on the wings. Unfortunately for him Rooney seems to be enjoying playing in the hole again.

The charity shield is going to be a very very interesting match.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Bebe's been loaned out to Besiktas. Good move for everyone involved imo. They seem to like their portuguese players.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

With the Signings so far were clearly sticking to the same policy

De Gea + Back 3 + Twin + Rooney = First choice

Everyone else just gets rotated in and out, no such thing as first choice. this could only change if we sign a big name CM or talents like Nani, Anderson and Hernandez make SAF add them to that lot.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

-------------- De Gea ---------------

Rafael -- Vidic -- Ferndinand -- Evra

----------Carrick --- Jones ---------

Valencia ---------------------- Young

-------------- Rooney ---------------

------------- Chicharito ------------

i was bored... :COAT:

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Actually less inspiring with Young in there instead of Nani, such a backwards signing.

I think he's signed to get Nani more games on the right IMO, If we had Nani on the right we didn't have anyone to play on the left

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

Venky's holding out for £25m

Hope you lot walk away, and not so we go after him. Venky's are idiots, unbelievable.

Re: Manchester United Champions Thread!!!19!!!!!

The press seem to think the Venky's just don't understand the concept of a release clause. Sigh.

That's what I thought the moment we were linked to him. I still dont get it. I thought we were trying to win back the European Cup and close the gap on Barca in terms of dominance. And Ashley Young isnt the way to do it.
