So you're telling me you wouldn't take 30 million for him?

No not me personally, that was the clubs statement, he is never worth £50 million! IMO

they also stated that only one club "Chelsea" can afford him...right?? so i feel that if Chelsea did bid for him, they might get the cash instead...but i don't see why...since he might do well this season after the big confidence boost this summer...

any news on Gerrard or other "links" we have this summer as of now????

If we get Rooney, we'll have to get rid of Solskjaer and Forlan and then maybe loan out Bellion cuz If we have van Nistelrooy, Saha, Rooney and Smith, I'm not sure if any 2 of those 4 will want to set on the bench.
But a Ruud/Rooney partnership wold be great. Ruud with his lethal finishing and Rooney's crazy runs would give us much more variety up front.
And now that Ronaldo is improving, We would be in perfect position to take the title back off Arssenal.

You would be stupid to buy him just after Euro 2004, that when he will cost you the most money, you should wait for a bit to let his price drop, at the moment you must be looking at spending about £30 million!! Crazy money!!

Yeah he may stay at Everton for one season but after having a taste of the big time he's gonna want to move and Everton will have to be careful not to outprice themselves, its okay saying only one club can afford Rooney but if he doesnt wanna move to London what can they do.

Its the signing we need to push us forward, yeah Forlan and Bellion will have to go, maybe even Ole but a Ruud, Rooney, Saha and Smith sounds sh*t hot, too good to miss out on IMO!!

We should loan out Bellion to Sporting Lisbon or something.
Rooney would make up for the lack of creativity in the the center of midfield.
If he's gonna cost about £30 million, we could afford him cuz our budget is around that much. And I'd rather spend the money on Rooney than Gerrard.

Id much rather have Gerrard than Rooney. We need someone who is gona take over from Keane seeing as this could be his last season.

Well we've got young Fletch and dont forget Miller coming in, they are gonna be the future for us in the midfield.

I'd rather have rooney tbh
gerrard is a great player but the prospect of Rooney in the utd line up is too good to miss out on, here's hoping then...... [-o<

dont get me wrong I rate Gerrard but the lfc/United thing would overshadow alot of stuff, although Rooney's a scouser there isnt the same problem.

Nah for me, seeing him perform in this tourney he's defo the one summer signing I wanna see us make.

Well Everton have signed Marcus Bent, Rooney is off, but not to us it looks like the hype and inflated price around Rooney has detered us from signing him.

'MANCHESTER United have been linked with a €25 million bid for a prodigious young striker - but it's not Wayne Rooney.

The Reds are reportedly monitoring Rooney's availability, but with every game his value is soaring and they would be unlikely to pay the £30 million plus that Everton would demand for the 18-year-old.

According to reports in Italy, they will instead go for Parma's Italy under-21 international Alberto Gilardino, a player who is coveted by Juventus, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

While still a relative unknown outside Italy, Gilardino is a darling of the Italian press and will be one of the new breed of players brought into the national squad following their disasterously early exit from Euro 2004.

United scouted the player last season and could be set to make mammoth bid to cash-strapped Parma as part of a double deal.

The Reds are also keen on Parma's under-17 striker Guiseppe Rossi and so could offer a massive fee to sign both players and help ease the Serie A club's financial burden.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson has already spent £13 million on Alan Smith and Gabriel Heinz, but there could be room for one more big-money signing, though it would be reliant on ushering at least a couple of players through the Old Trafford exit doors.'

I posted about these two youngsters a few weeks back, should be interesting.

Ive seen Gilardino play a number of times and he looks a top player. I doubt united will get him though. He'll most likely end up at Juve.
I dont know much about Miller but Fletcher isnt a replacement for Roy Keane. We need a passionate and hard tackling player and the only two that come to my mind are Gerrard and Gatusso!

I dont know, Parma have hit hard times and Juve cant compete with us when it comes to making a bid, we'll have to wait and see.

Dont write of young Fletch he's very similar to Keane, good distibution, good engine and can put his foot in, he's had a couple of injuries that have set him back but he's on the road to becoming a great player, with a good first season behind him and a years growth he's gonna be one to watch this year.

Norwegian star to join??

From MEN

'MANCHESTER United are stepping up their interest in Norwegian left winger Morten Gamst Pedersen and are expected to have a spy at Tromso's cup match with Lillestrom tonight.
Blackburn Rovers have already had a bid for the highly-rated 22-year-old rejected by Tromso and turned their attentions instead to last week's capture of Javier De Pedro from Real Sociedad.
United's own efforts last January to secure cover and competition for Ryan Giggs in that role were wrecked when PSV Eindhoven's Arjen Robben chose Chelsea instead.
But Pedersen could be a cheaper option for manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Rovers offered £1.5m plus £500,000 after a certain amount of games but the Norwegian club threw out the deal.
Last week Pedersen reflected: "My situation is unchanged from a week ago. Blackburn made an offer and Tromso said no.
"I've got no problems with that. I'm not angry on the decision, rather the opposite. It's really fun to play here and I feel that I'm still developing. The most important thing for me is to become a good footballer.
"I've got a dream of playing abroad, but I'm in no rush to realise that dream."
However, if the Reds came calling with a straight cash bid of £2.5 to £3m then Tromso are expected to agree to the sale and Pedersen would move.
The international colleague of United's own Ole Solskjaer has been outstanding for Tromso in the opening 10 matches of the Norwegian season and has been instrumental in their surprise top-of-the-table position.
Pedersen is a left winger with two good feet, is good in the air and can score goals. '

We defo need another outlet on the left, missing out on Robben was a bid deal IMO we cant let another one get away!!

Gamst Pedersen is class in Champ Man, I always buy him. If he is as good in real life then he would be a steal.

lol if only, look at Heskey on evo.

but yeah I've heard good things and the article paints a good picture so fingers crossed. for us anyway!!

Then you play us lot, as usual near christmas away. Least it isnt boxing day this year ;)

by the way just to warn anyone

posting the full list of fixtures is an infringement of copyright and can result in a large fine if the wrong people find it

I read in a newspaper that loads of people are placing bets on Rooney joining Man Utd by the end of next season.
I hope it happens.

if we could get him [rooney] for the right price then i would say go ahead. BUT I would under no circumstances pay over 25 million for him. After all we don't desperatly need him

even people in liverpool ive been speaking to reckon he's coming to us.....

This is what van Nistelrooy said about Rooney on their website.

"He is a phenomenal talent and the prospect of him pulling on a United shirt is frightening. I don't know many clubs that wouldn't want him in their side. He is an incredible player. Anyone who has seen him play knows what a talent he is. Nothing seems to worry him."

"If he does become available, Manchester United should do everything in their power to sign him," Ruud added. It certainly excites me to think he could be playing at United next season."

I have to agree with Ruud. Man Utd have to sign him. He could bring a lot to the team. Not only his striking skills but also his great passing and strong defending which he shows at times.

i dont think Rooney will get 1st team football cause we already have Saha and Ruud.. and fergie promised that they both will be more dangerous(or sumthing like that) next season
