Manchester United Thread

Vicente is not bad...but once again, we need ones for the right...well, Ronaldo can play both, so we need ones to cover for him...

Joaquin?? but Real and Chelsea going for him at the same time, i doubt that we can compete with their cash amount....

teletext on ones to watch for spain they said they were ready to offload vicente for 15 mill. torres would be a top purchase to in my opinion if fergie is building for the future hes young and got the attitude of cantonaif anyones been watchin athletico all season and boy can he score goals, we have wasted money on smith I think he is an average player

I was told this morning that Jaoquin is coming to United with Forlan going to Betis as part of the deal, apparently the player is very interested in joining us but you know how these things work...

Also according to sources in Portugal another couple of youngsters are lined up:

According to Portugal Branch Office sources, Manchester United will land two new recruits until the end of the week. The Spanish defender Gerard Pique Barnabeu, from Barcelona FC and, the Italian left wing attacker Giuseppe Rossi, 17 years old from AC Parma. Both players are without contract and Manchester United will only have to compensate both clubs according to UEFA regulations. Gerard Pique Barnabeu, young centre back of 17 years old has refused to renew his contract by three times with Barcelona FC and will sign for Manchester United who won the race against rivals Chelsea and Arsenal, who have been interested in the young lad. More recently Sir Alex Ferguson has become surprised by the left wing Giuseppe Rossi who turned down a professional contract from AC Parma. The club is having problems with his finances and Giuseppe Rossi has refused the money offered by his club. Both players finish their contracts next month and should sign for us later this week. The players are both sub-17 internationals and will play on Manchester United reserve team next season.

Cant reveal my sources mate ;)

Yeah I heard that about Mexes aswell, he already turned us down because he wouldnt comand an automatic place, so Fergie turned his attention to Heinze, who is a different type of defender and more versatile and now Fergie has upped the bid for a player he's been chasing for years.

TBH we have an abundence of defenders, with Mexes, as with Rio they can only play the one position, the others, Sheasy, Neville, Silvestre, Brown and now Heinze call play fullback and CB. So unless we have someone leaving (which I've only heard the slightest of rumours and the tabloids ran with it so I had it down to being untrue) I cant see why we would buy more....

I'm really starting to like the look of the new Man U team. I think we've developed a great team since the start of last season when Beckham and Veron left. If we get the players we want, we could be looking at the best united side since 1999.

Vicente's agent Miguel Angel Cermeno has revealed his client is far from happy with Valencia's latest proposal and insists their four-year offer has caused bad blood between the two parties."The positions are very far away apart," Cermeno stated. "They have made it difficult for us to accept and there is a certain tension now. He (Vicente) feels that he is not valued, and I will tell the club this and that they have to reconsider.

FERGIE I HOPE YOU GET THIS TO YOUR HEAD.

L'Equippe's PSG reporter Jerome Touboul talking to the MEN"Gabriel has earned himself the reputation as the hardest defender in France and most of his opponents will say that is justified. When it comes to personal duels Heinze wins them all. But although he is very combative and hard his challenges are fair. No player from opposition teams has been seriously injured because of Heinze. There are other hard players in the French League but their opponents have sometimes been put out of the game for a long period. But not with Gabriel. He'll win the battles and he's very combative and physically uncompromising but he doesn't go out to hurt players. You might find him missing a few matches per season because of suspension but considering the job he does he won't be missing often. Referees seem to accept that he's aggressive but fair. Not only that he's an intelligent player and is very clever with the referees so hasn't picked up as many cards as you would expect from the kind of player he is. Physically I think he is made for the Premiership. It's a very tough league but Heinze won't be bothered about that. Physically he won't have any problems in England. United fans will like him. Sir Alex Ferguson will be able to count on him being up for selection virtually every match throughout the season because, while he is tough, he doesn't get hurt himself either. I don't recall him missing a game for Paris St Germain because of injury since he joined the club from Real Valladolid in 2001. He was always fit and because of the way he plays, I think his record was fantastic. Gabriel has incredible energy. Whatever Sir Alex Ferguson decides is his position he will get a player with a tough Argentine defensive mentality and one who won't let him down and is bound to strengthen any team he plays for."

Sounds good, so thats a tough nut to compliment the classy french player Fergie is about to sign...

"We were close to finding an agreement with Manchester. Our officials met Franco Baldini, Roma's sport director, but we didn't reach an agreement. The Italian offer is too weak, between 7 and 8million euros. Roma want Philippe but they have to give an acceptable price. When you sell Walter Samuel for more than 24million euros to Real Madrid, you can make a decent effort for the young Mexes! I feel the Romans haven't got so much money. Our first hope is to let the player go where he wants. However, the club must not be damaged. Mexes still has two years left on his contract with us."

Still not sure on this, It was his agent who refused on the players behalf but we know that could be a crock of shite, apparently he wants to be guarenteed a 1st team place but at 22 he's gonna have to earn that anywhere he goes, with Rio out till at least Sept he could cement a pplace in the team no probs.

The mad thing is that Fergie could get both players for half the price he paid for Rio, or should I say what Kenyon paid for Rio.

Our defense is gonna be sorted for the next decade at this rate.

Mexes has now snubbed a move ro united as he wont be guaranteed a starting spot. Well if thats the sort of attitude he has id rather united forget about him.
Players have to understand that nowadays its more of a squad game.

It sounds like the comments attributed to Mexes we're made by his agent.

Not sure whether thats true but agents are notorious for putting words in players mouths.

Wow,first Heinze and now Mexes huh, looks like there would be some competition in the defence department.I think the 'victims' of these two signings would be O'Shea,Fortune and maybe even Gary Neville.

Nah not Sheasy, maybe Fortune, even Silvestre but defo not G.Neville.

I thought we've already signed Heinze. Hasn't it been confirmed cuz I'm sure it has?

I'm not really bothered with Mexes. Once Rio comes back, we'll have more than enough great defenders. The same goes for strikers. We only need midfielders now.
ManUtd.com have this thing at their forums where you can scout players for the team yourself and give a short review. The best ones get uploaded onto the site.

I'm recommending Joaquin. He was great today and could really useful on the wing. He has speed and is able to get past defenders very quickly. He could be considered as a faster alternative to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Joaquin is quite pricey, and i'd start him over Ronaldo any day.

But why use only one when you can use them both :D
We could have Ronaldo on the left and Joaquin on the right. It would be perfect. Too bad that both of them can't cross in a high ball.

why not o'shea season before last he had a stunner this season he's been terrible i don't understand why the blame gets put on wes when o'shea is usually the one who gives the ball away

To be fair to 0'Shea hes been playing as a left back which isnt his best position but he hasnt done that bad.

Dont forget O'Shea's flexibility guys,he is a superb centreback and fullback, great cover on both flanks, and if yall dont know yet he could play as a defensive midfielder too.

you got that right!

He's gonna end up a midfielder IMO.

John Oshea is the most overated youngster I have seen since Mark Hughes. I mean his good but he ain't that good. Man United better buy smart this season or its gonna be another bleak season.

He's overrated but good, make your mind up?

As for another bleak season, well seen as though the last two have finished with us winning a trophy, again WTF are you talking about.

Its annoying when people think Man Utd's last season was bad. They were 3rd and won the FA Cup. I know its below their standards but its still better than a lot of other teams who were expecting the same success.

Whats the FA cup? its nothing, what matters more the winning the league or some namby pampy cup, I think we all know the answer to that.

Who isn't linked with Rooney?
And if we do get him, what do we do with Saha, Smith, Forlan, Solskjaer and Bellion?
