Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Yeah his best position is CM, so Houllier, Capello and Benitez are all idiots.
The thing is that Gerrard is very good playing in the wings too. It is not that Capello put him in the left wing because it is were he plays best, he puts him there so that Lampard can play in the centre. When Rafa put Gerrard as a AMC I guess it clearly was because Mascherano and Xabi were an outstanding partner, Xabi had the creativity and we only had one world class striker (well this actually continues).
Now things are different, Aquilani ´s natural position is AMC and Gerrard ´s natural position is CM. Plus, personally, I think is better to have a more creative player as an AMC than as a CM, Aquilani can see a pass much better than Gerrard, while Gerrard long balls from CM are amazing.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Houllier moved him to the right. Benitez moved him nearer the striker with 2 holding midfielders behind. Capello plays him from the left cutting inside and lets Lampard play in the middle (to great success compared to the 2 of them centrally).

All this points to one thing.

That Lampard is by far the better player of the two...

Re: Liverpool Thread

Cheeky bastard needs to pack his bags and leave quickly. The thing is, if I was interested in him then I'd be questioning whether I wanted a player who keeps mouthing off to the press and lacks professionalism.

Re: Liverpool Thread

pathetic little man he is, he thought he could run his mouth and get away with it, and when the club's stance was "you're not bigger than the club, shut your fucking mouth" he didn't like it.

There's a difference between being underappreciated and being punished for being a cunt.

Re: Liverpool Thread

This usually happens when the player is away on international duty.

He may have been misquoted so keep your powder dry. The key thing is if Rafa stays most of the 'Spanish' speaking contingent stays.

And while I would like to see Masche become the captain at Liverpool he may be disappointed by the behind the scenes shenanigans.

Unless H&G are removed or sell up Torres will also up sticks. Any transfer monies are likely to be taken by the greedy carpetbaggers. That's all they are.
A bit late but I ve just seen the original interview that Mascherano made to an argentinian newspaper called Ole. He said exactly what was translated, there wasnt anything strange.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Pepe has said he's spoken to Torres and that he intends to stay at Liverpool.

Gerrard, on the other hand, could easily come out and say he wants to stay but instead says he'll think of his future after the World Cup. Cya then, don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Fair enough. ;)

I think as an Argentina fan it would be better for all concerned if Rafa delineates his position for definite.

And that Mascherano decides to stay. I think he'd make an admirable captain and I am surprised he find's it lonely considering the number of Spanish speaking players (although the cultures do differ in many respects) esp. now that Maxi has been brought in and Bruna hopefully kicks on from the reserves.

If Banega could be prised from Valencia he would be an admirable addition as his head is sorted out and he has immense natural ability (he only started playing aged 16) and time on the ball a hallmark of all great players with a languid ease (too much talent that he decided not to really work at his game) and a shameful omission from this WC.

He's a better player than Xabi Alonso. Passing superior at all ranges, tackles (bit rash still) and runs box to box and his shooting is improving.

But until that Damocles sword of H&G is removed the club will continue in flux and any transfers will have to be funded by sales first.

That said there are a number of decent players in the Academy ie Irwin , Robinson, Bruna, Pacheco and della Valle. Borrell will take time to implement the changes as well.

Mourinho was the one who tried to sign him at Chelsea so Real Madrid is probably likely and team up with Alonso.

I dont see Banega playing under Rafael Benitez. He is a very complicated footballer, even more than Riera. He has been fighting with all his managers since he started playing and, for example, after his loan in Atletico Madrid ended, he refused to go back to Valencia.
He is a very good player thought, I dont think he is better than Xabi Alonso, but he has the potential to. He has to sort out his mentality, but unfortunately, a lot of argentinian players are like these. I´d have to say that Tevez, Higuain, Mascherano, Cambiasso, Milito and Messi are the exception to the rule.

That was in the past. His head has been straightened out.

As for ability I've watched enough of him as a kid at Boca onwards to say he is one of the best prospects to leave that club for a very long time.

He's outperformed Alonso this season as well. Regarding mentality issues most Argentines whereever they go turn into cult figures at their clubs for their effort , determination and no little skill.

Examples ie Tino Costa at Montpellier , Lisandro at Lyon , Piatti at Almeria etc etc while those like Zarate at Lazio who is a troublemaking character is a far rarer breed.

If the fee is £8M then it would be a snip and alongside Masche make a formidable midfield pairing. Rafa likes the player and has had more troublesome characters like Carew to deal with in the past.

As I said Banega was lost for a season but this season really has got his act together.

Even this bizarre action when being subbed by Emery did not provoke him while the Valencia fans booed the substitution of their best player on the night.

Just look at Villa's expression at Emery. ;)

Yes, he is an incredible talent, but there is no way we can get him for 8M. He cost Valencia 18M, no way they are letting him go after his best season for half what the pay.

Look at what Hicks has done at the Texas Rangers. They have also gone into bankruptcy. It's down to Barclay's and those nasty bankers to force the hand's of the vampires.

Re: Liverpool Thread

our club being dragged through the shit again by people who supposedly care about it.

Moores is a fucking idiot.

Re: Liverpool Thread

And sure enough more lies.....

http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_6173791,00.html

And he says he,s doing whats right for us,what by asking for 600-800 million for the club,Yeah right!

600-800m?!?! What an absoloute idiot! He's supposed to be a businessman yet he has no idea of how to attract a buyer and he's completely pricing the club out of any bids!

Better position than we were three years ago? £300m+ of debt? Fucking muppet.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Torres wasn't giving the most confident talk of staying in a news conference today.

Re: Liverpool Thread

torres is speaking well in English very impressive

Yeh i think it's a brilliant rule we have at Liverpool where foreign players must learn English as soon as possible, i think it's ridiculous that players like Tevez still can't speak English.

Tevez doesnt even speak well spanish and you are asking him to speak english.

Maybe Liverpool shoud extend that rule to Scousers, that way Carragher could make sense to people outside Liverpool.
