Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Haha only kidding anyway!

Yeah, it's a good deal for you. The Carlsberg deal was shite in all fairness, though their logo does look better but that's trivial really, the £££s are more important these days.

You'll be running out of excuses soon. ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Haha, most of my family are unfortunately :P

Was born in Manchester though by extreme lucky chance.

And I'm still nearer to Old Trafford than most United fans so I'm alright :D

an accent doesnt really mean ur a manc. Ur a bit like a Israeli supporting the Palestinian National Football team

Re: Liverpool Thread

More like a Palestinian considering I was born in Manchester and support a Manchester team

(Not a word about a United being a Salford team please :P)

I could really have supported anyone though, it's just my earliest memory of watching any form of football was seeing United on Match of the Day, used to be very close to my uncle and he took me to watch my first match so I've been a United fan ever since.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Wow, superb bit of negotiating done there by someone (I'm sure somehow Rafa will credit amongst the faithful). Equal to United's deal, but with a 'lesser' brand = good piece of business!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Ian Ayre it was behind it it seems, his first job as the marketing guy and seems he did a decent job...

Re: Liverpool Thread

the problem with the original Carlsberg deal was that Parry et Moores let Carlsberg have an exclusivity for several years that didnt allow us to negotiate a better deal with anyone else for a certain number of years!

Un-real.

Standard Chartered aren't a massive name, but they have been one of the bankings worlds few success stories recently, and they have a MASSIVE prescence in Asia. Okay we already have a large following in Asia, but there is still plenty of un-tapped potential there, and thats perhaps why Standard were so keen to offer big money to secure the deal, they will benefit too.

I've never agreed with Alcohol advertising anyway, glad we are distancing ourselves from it, and that may help in the Middle East markets.

Yeah but he's just the Yanks puppet remember, so it's probably bollocks eh?

Well done Rafa, blinding bit of business. :)

Re: Liverpool Thread

WORST european performance in a LONG, LONG time. Total disrespect to the opposition and the competition.

Bodylanguage was shocking, particularly from players like Torres (looks like a pub player at the moment), Gerrard (how many misplaced overhit passes?)

A better team would have battered us tonight. Only positive was Kuyt sniffing out another predator goal and not conceeding from a set piece!

Dont get me started on the fans, we've become the new prawn eating brigade. Atmosphere/Good performance, it works both ways.

Fuming!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Agreed, fully.

Only players who can hold their head up there are Skrtel, Kuyt and Lucas(to an extent), MAYBE Benayoun. Everyone else was very poor and it just looked like they really couldn't be arsed being there.

Torres needs to sort himself out, whatever is going on with him. He;s lacked any kind of drive and attacking threat for a long time now, concentrating more on complaining to the ref. He didn't complain tonight, but then he didn't do much else either.

We're too much of a Jekyll & Hyde team. We'll spank teams one week, then look like we couldn't give a shit the next, and it pisses me off big time. You can see it pisses Rafa off as well. If only the players got a sense of that :CURSE:

Sounds a bit like our Ronaldo last season.

Re: Liverpool Thread

FFS, can't wait for Agger to get fit so we can give Carra a rest. Never seen him play so poorly as this season. That first mistake would make you think he is blind in one eye. I mean he saw the lad running towards him and just didn't do anything?!

Re: Liverpool Thread

Carragher had a rotten first half today - hope he improves for the second. Really unlike him to be out of form for so long. Mind you, he is playing left centre defence......Skrtel looks like he's heading for a red! I can see us scoring second half but defence? Who knows?

Re: Liverpool Thread

It works, just not the way Liverpool do it.

We used to do it better than anyone.

Fucking media...zonal this zonal that. More goals are conceeded by man marking, fact. The problem is an individual gets blamed not a system. We've been doing zonal fine ever since Rafa took over at Anfield and we've consistenly had one of the best defences records in the League AND in Europe.

This year, our defence hasnt been settled, its been rocked by injuries, and with a general stuttering start, we need continuity and confidence. We'll sort it soon, I just hope very soon as I cant SIT THROUGH 3-2's every week watching CRAPPY streams because we've been knocked onto ESPN or some other crappy channel.

However, I'm leaning towards the Carra is on his way out camp....Immense last season tailed off at the end of the season and hes just getting worse. Torres back to himself today, wasn't moaning, wasnt falling over at the slightest touch. Won everything in the air. And two AWESOME goals. Thats more like it.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Impressed with of course, Torres - shocking form he is in! Second half was a different story once Johnson got close to Hines. Good performances from Lucas, Insua (super interception for the first goal). Winning 3-2 every week is great but will give us all heart attacks. Gerrard looked a little disinterested at times, not chasing back. Still, 3 points in the bag. THAT IS ALL THAT MATTERS!

Re: Liverpool Thread

From Sky:

Javier Mascherano and Jamie Caragher were the only recognised names in an otherwise second string Liverpool line-up.

Only recognised? We had current international players like Dossena and Babel on the pitch, Sky are muppets :SHAKE:
