Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

No link, its just considering Degen is injured rafa will probably on the look out for someone else.

And yeh, he would be cup tied, but I think Rafa would go for him if he had the chance.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Paper rumour has it that we'll make a £15m bid for Bale in January,
could be just pap BS but Spurs are a bit of a feeder club these days...

Dossena needs more time.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Dossena needs more time.

exactly, and by time, i don't mean days or weeks... it's probably a matter of months. just after 6 or 7 months u will be able to be sure wheter he was able to settle in liverpool or not.

i mean, how many official matches did he play so far this season? 4? 5? it's absolutely impossible to express any kind of opinion on a player, just after 5 matches..... especially when he's a new signing..... and especially when he's coming from another league.... a very, very different league.... especially when he comes from a very, very different country (wich doesn't mean just different wheather, but also different food, different lifestyle, different training systems... different people).

i have a huge lot of friends who moved to england (basically London and southampton) in the last few years (something like 20 or 25, reallly a lot of people). now they love it. but they all told me the same thing: "the first 3\4 months were awful, i was so depressed, i just couldn't feel at home here etc...."
i guess it's like for brazilian people coming in italy. when a brazilian moves to palermo or napoli, he will hardly have any kind of adaptation issues.... but if he moves to milano, for instance, then the change will be so "brutal", it will take a few months for him to handle it.

i already told u months ago that dossena comes from a city (Udine) wich is very far from the tipycal italian standards (the people is very introvert, the wheater is pretty "british", the whole city is pretty quiet), wich is a factor that might help him in settling in england.

now i can also tell u that if i would have to pick 5 italian players who would suit the most premiership football, dossena would be one of 'em... definitely.
of course i don't now him personally, neither i ever met him, but given his features, and his personality (or at least the impression he gave me, listening to his few interviews), he looks very reserved and shy, hard worker, preofessional..... pretty much the opposite of the usual italian features :DD
and this too might help him in adapting to premiership.....

but in the end, all theese factors don't really mean anything, as they can't give u the absolute certainty that he will ever really settle in england.
elano, deco, robinho, they definitely aren't the "most likely to settle in premiership players ever"... but still it seems they're doing a good job.
xabi alonso himself, really isn't the "tipycal premiership player", but still it seems he didn't have big troubles in adapting himself to premiership.

so, all in all, this is not a perfect science, there's no rule, no specific wich can tell u if a player will settle in the the team or not.
neither it has anything to do with the quality of the player. there are some world class players who had big troubles in settling in england (like sheva, malouda, suker, panucci, crespo, mutu, dino baggio, etc....), as well as many mid-class players who instantly adapted theselves to british footie.

so just be patient and wait until (at least) jannuary to express a reliable opinion on his performances in england.
however, talking about the quality of the player, there's nothing to argue. u either know him or not. but those of u who know dossena, they know he has what it takes to be one of the very best left backs in premiership. ;))

Yeah Drogba was labelled a flop in his first season then after that he was a goal machine. It's just a matter of time.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great performance. Nando is back. Keane and Kuyt were good. Top of the league. Happy days.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Good result, decent/good performance. Everton were really crap though, sitting back in their own half at home, Small Club tm ;)

Riley was his usual crap self.

completly agree...
there was no midfield conection today..it was long ball after long ball..just like a 3rd div team...and i think thats mostly because fellaini had a horrenduous performance. the guy is young and has potential..but gerrard and xabi were just too much for him, in the first 20 mim when the defence were still trieng to give him the ball to see if he could connect he failed, so after that it was just those long balls... that killed arteta from the game too, he inst a player to play in that style.

congrats on the win, liverpool played like a real champ. contender.

I haven't seen Toffees play that poorly in a long while. They look like a team very low on confidence.

Be nice for them to get a fixture versus Toon for a guaranteed 3 points and a confidence booster ;))

El Nino was awesome second half and Reira has very tidy footwork, liking him very much already.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Nice to see Torres amongst the goals again.

We controlled the game from start to finish. Reina was a spectator. Arbeloa seems to be having a good run of games. Skrtel is ever improving. Ideally I'd like to see Agger in the side but Skrtel hasn't put a foot wrong and he's establishing himself as a key player for us. Alonso is playing more than any of us would have probably expected. Yeah, maybe due to Mascherano being away (earlier) and injured for the past couple of games but Xabi's been a real professional. He and Gerrard controlled the middle of the park.

Unbeaten so it's looking good but City away next week and Chelsea away soon after. Looking forward to those testing games.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Thought it was a very professional performance by us, and a poor performance by Everton. We always seemed to have a man in space, although we did struggle up front with Everton having so many men back.

Great day all round for me. Liverpool won, AFC Liverpool won 6-3 and I had a good time at a wedding I went to. Nice weekend :DD

Re: Liverpool Thread

Great performance. Keane is coming good, give him time and Dossena too, he's showing alot of promise for me. And with Reira on the left too.

Hopefully the Partnership up front will go from strength to strength.

If only we can do this against teams who park the bus ;)

Re: Liverpool Thread

Guys, I´m travelling to London and Liverpool next year beteween the 20 of January and 4 of Febrery and od course I want to go to Anfield and see a match.
The question is, is it really difficult to buy a ticket the day or the week of the match ? How much does it cost the cheapest ticket.
Looking foward to going to Anfield Road :DD

Bye Bye

Re: Liverpool Thread

Come and watch AFC Liverpool instead ;)) We're a non-league team but play very good football!

Only £5 a ticket, I'll get you a beer as well :))
