Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

So, this is the new, improved, mature Ryan Babel with a bit of swagger. Nice.

Re: Liverpool Thread

It's not really, Babels not done anything. He's just given the ball away when he's had it (well, apart from getting the penalty).

Gerrard's first was an absolute peach.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think Babel is the best player on the pitch personally, only Niang and Cheyrou are close.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'll take that. The players were knackered from the United game.

Babel was awesome, so was Reina. Arby was brilliant. Riera did well the two times he got the ball.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Arby brilliant? The more I'm seeing him this season, the more I feel he's not right for us.

When's Degen back?

Re: Liverpool Thread

Oh, and Riera didn't get the ball much, but he showed absolute quality when he did get the ball.

I agree. From what I've seen so far, I'm hopeful that he's our real answer to our left-wing problems. Looks a great signing from the little time he's had.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Not sure about Reira, attacking wise he was very good. Got the ball twice and nearly created the 3rd goal if Babel had had some composure. But defensively he will definitly be the weak link. Once he came on Marseille's rightwing had all the time they wanted really.

Good result though, especially with Atl. winning in Eindhoven. Pretty much set up for us two to go through already with PSV going to Anfield and Marseille to Madrid in teh coming matches.

Performance was ok, first half we looked like we were playing at 80%, second half at 50%.

Those late goals seemed to have done so much good for their mental strengh, last season they would have "panicked" somewhat and would have played with less composure. Now though when you see the players reaction to conceding they just look like: "Doesn't matter, we'll score anyway". And then they continue to play calmly and create the chances and score.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Watched the game against Marseille yesterday.
Good game for the neutral.
Liverpool deserved to win, but at the end Marseille should have got a penalty when Arbeloa pushed Niang.
I don't think that it's the best idea to put both Lucas Leiva and Mascherano in the same team because yesterday they definetely did not play well together in the centre (look for instance at the Marseille goal and befor and afterwards there were other attack through the centre that resulted in on-on-one situations before Reyna. But Reyna is proving to be a splendid goal keeper. Perhaps the best Liverpool ever had.

Re: Liverpool Thread

The central midfield was just awful last night. One of the few times both central midfielders were that awful under Rafa. Our players did look very tired. I think Rafa might rest Mascherano and Kuyt againt Stoke.

And what a goal can do to a player. The first time I've seen Babel make such a difference starting the game. He looked more mature, and had a bit of arrogance about him, which is really exciting.

And this was incredible. Unbelievable

Please someone tell me that Gerrard has no technique.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I was saying last night that Cheyrou looked quality. I also liked Ziani and Niang too. In fact their midfield and forward looked impressive.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Lads, the team is far worst I ever seen, the last 10 years...

I'm... quite old fellow (37) and even if I'm Greek, I'm travelling around the Europe (and British Isles, of course) to watching my BELOVED "MerseySide REDS", since 1984's SUPERB Final in Rome...

Believe me, lads, the team is not good. The players ARE NOT "WELL-FITTING" together. My ONLY joy is... Stevie G. this season, seams quite "on fire", he has this "good-old-days" winner's eye, his play on the pitch showing us he's REALLY WANTS this season, a GOOD result (a Championship title perhaps? Too difficult, to me)...
LFC is not going well... YES, WE DO HAVE GOOD RESULTS! So??? So what?
Do you REMEMBERING (I'll not say REALLY OLD DAYS, 'couse you may are too young) the F.A. Final against West Ham??? Do you remembering THAT game's play? The spirit that LFC had? The power, the inspiration, the... heat?
Where are they, now?
I thought, Rafa WOULD BE ALSO FIT in the club, as the years go by...
HE ISN'T!
Rafa CAN'T FIT to LFC or ANY other BRITISH TEAM! These are NOT MY words, are British Sports Newspapers' words!!! Few Spanish lads, coaches or players, can actually "fit" in Britain. Well, Rafa seams he can't!
The team has serious defence problems (Do you remembering last Saturday's goal we suffered or the bloody Mancs' one? That and last night one, both made by serious defencing problems in the Middle line - hello, Mascherano! - and then, defence line made also wrong placements - SKRTEL, as superb as he was last year, he've started SO bad this year, with LFC but ALSO with his national team!)
Except the defencing problems... HELLO... offence! We're playing with ONLY ONE BLOODY ATTACHER!!! Only Fernando is playing!... Because, don't tell me you actually watching ANOTHER attacker with him! KEAN is NOT in this team; he had send a... clone of his! The fellow is completely confused! We, actually, are playing - ALWAYS! - with... 10 players, not 11! (HELLO... Crouch! My dear Rafa! What a... "brilliant" idea was, to send off Peter - a SUPERB ATTACKER, WELL-FIT in LFC - and buying a player that didn't show ANYTHING yet, not even to the exibition games! Nice choise!)... And, even if we bought KUYT as the BEST DUTCH ATTACKER, with so many goals in a season... yes, Rafa had ANOTHER "brilliant" idea to make him... Middle Fielder WINGER! "Nice"!...
EVEN I, CAN BE A COACH LIKE THAT!
When I was played semi-pro footie (as a goalie), I NEVER had a coach with SO MANY WRONG dicision, like Rafa is... I know, NOW, we don't have much of other coaches' choises. (We COULD had O' NEIL, though.)

Anyway... we have problems with SCORING ALSO.
What's left??? Middle Field. With Stevie G. in high spirits, cheerfull, hungry for this season success. We have Alonso, with internal good play, as always as he does. We have Mascherano... with his "ups" and his "downs" of his. GOD HELP US, when he's on his "downs"!... We have the Jew fellow - quite good, he's fitting with the team. We have the new lad, RIERA, not bad AT ALL! And few, "smaller" quality players...
"GREAT"! With ONLY a well-done Middle Field Line, we CAN'T WIN TITLES!
With Rafa, STILL PLAYING-PLANNING preservative/moderate/modest Liverpool's play, we can't do much!
Remember the last game, against the bloody Mancs. WE DIDN'T PLAY WELL. Mancs did! We were lucky and made few chances and we scored almost all!
So... Don't you see we are really in trouble?
If you can go back in time, when Rafa came in the club... 2005-2006 seasons... he was so "fresh" with the players and the club, but WE WERE PLAYING GOOD, DAMN IT!

Anyway... Last night, without Stevie's good performance, without Reina's superb blocks and without our "holly fighter", Carra, we couldn't won that game...

Let's hope for better days... I doubt it, but I'm hopping (and still watching the DVD from the F.A. Final against West Ham! What... past... glorious days!)

:lmao:

Best post of the century

Re: Liverpool Thread

Heres a joke i read, i dont know how many of you already know it though...

So on Benitez's death bed God said, "Come forth my child"....Rafael replied "We are still trying to come fifth :| "...

No Offense.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Get Babel on.

Stoke aren't even putting up a fight and just packing everyone in defence. Besides Riera, there's nobody else who looks like they're going to create anything at all.

Alonso has looked poor (besides his good shot) and Arbeloa has shown once again he's utterly useless at crossing.

Torres can't get the ball, and when he has he's looked off-colour and doesn't seem his usual self. Keane doesn't look like he's even been playing.

It's these kind of games which really show what kind of creativity in your side, and we're lacking ... still.

Re: Liverpool Thread

fucking knew it

what a load of bollocks

dossena, has alot to prove man - looks shite

alonso looked shite

perfect goal disallowed, i feel robbed right now

Re: Liverpool Thread

Last attack of the game, we need the ball in the mixer ....

And Gerrard hits another Hollywood ball! :brick:

What a bloody joke of a game that was! So frustrating!

I'm seriously pissed off, fucking joke of a team can't even create a chance against a team just waiting to be picked off. Where's the bloody creativity? Where was this super Gerrard that is the best midfielder in the world? Trying to be the one-man show again, that's what.

A fucking joke. Games like this is why we wont win the league.

30 shots
6 on target
20 corners

:brick:
