Liverpool Thread

Re: Liverpool Thread

Vargas and Zarate just signed for Fiorentina & Lazio respectively, I know we've just signed Dossena (I hope he's as good as lo zio says he is) but I feel we've missed a trick here with these two, they're exactly the type of players we need.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Just wondering, do you lot actually have 15-16M already to sign Barry or is that fee depending on Alonso's sale? if not then actually you lot have quite a lot of money to be honest. Crouch's sale could bring in a RM and then you would also have around 15M from the Alonso sale, honestly probably would spend that to bring in more depth as your starting 11 is looking quite good now.

No, we're skint. I am absolutely convinced that our net spent this summer will be around 3-5M max. Otherwise, Rafa would not have gone bargaining on freebies like Degen, and would have already bought Barry.

Re: Liverpool Thread

LMAO at Neville.

Skrtel has actually grown a bit of hair over the summer. Doens't look as much the pyscho as he used to.

Not to bother by Vargas, if Dossena is as good as Ben says (and he's normally right). And Rafa rarely gets it wrong with expensive defenders.

Zarate, I would agree. We were definitely interested, but maybe he wanted to move to Italy.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Thanks for everything Crouchie, you'll always be my favorite England striker :)

And I presume Portsmouth's going to aim for that 4th spot now, bugger. I hope we step up a gear so it would be Arsenal's problem instead of ours.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I think it's more like both sides know Crouch will a waste of talent in the sidelines because of Rafa's tactics. It's been like that for a year and since this year is Crouch's last year in the contract, better to sell now.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Hope Crouch does well at Pompey, he's been a great player for us and I think most Liverpool fans will wish him well.

Re: Liverpool Thread

He was a great player to bring on for the last 20 but the problem was he was to good for that, you'll miss him.

Re: Liverpool Thread

hey guys does anyone have a decent tactic to use with liverpool on pes08?... i did have one on pes6 but it dont seem te work now.

also am i alone in thinking barry is not good enough to play for liverpool. i cant help but think gerrard is the force behind this signing, well not being funny but just because he's captain i still wouldnt allow him say in who i sign hes just a player. im a reds fan and i have got to say that with the midfielders i have seen over the years i dont think barry would be in the top 20. also for 18mil you could have two class players just think....Deco cost chelsea 8mil...say liverpool brought him thet'd still have 10mil which could have been used two ways, e.g if defoe didnt go te pompy they coulda got him,or a player of similar ability OR they could keep the 10mil sold crouch for 8-9mil and bang with that they could have brought a right winger...Quaresma anyone? i would or if not him what about lennon surely his situation at spurs would knock his fee down! and hey i'd keep alonso lets face it worlds best passer and solid all rounder. i wouldnt let him go especially at his current age his hitting prime.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I do agree with your Deco point, for 8M aswell would have given you another 10M to spend in other areas maybe a decent RB and the Crouch sum on a winger.

Re: Liverpool Thread

I thought we might have went for Deco but I'm not sure Deco is the workhorse that Benitez would want him to be.

Still, Deco for £8m ...

Re: Liverpool Thread

also i dont think liverpool need another central mf. just a decent winger. rb i think is ok. i like finnan and degen is pretty decent. i'd like to see insua get used abit more and i would like to see another striker as i think voronin is good but dosent seem to force himself ya'kno. i'd pick a few players tbh who i think would be good. i'd test arsenal for walcott. hes a reds fan! but on to a technical point he's not bad, LOADS of pace obviously and can run with the ball. not skillfull but he'll still smoke you. i'll tell you what i fout was funny....letting Robbie Fowler go. he had the best strike rate the season he was here yet they let him go and keep crouch. crouch had the better rate on the site by like 0.1% but thats only cos he scored the hattrick against arsenal.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Fowler was WAY passed it, by a mile. Hence he's playing for Cardiff and not some other Premiership team when he left us.

Re: Liverpool Thread

but interms of box play i would have kept him regardless. technique was way beyond crouch. and so was his mind.

Re: Liverpool Thread

Box play will get him goals IF he's able to position himself so he can react to the ball coming in. Problem is, even if his instincts are there, he has lost his lateral movements and compared to EPL defenders these days, no chance.

EDIT:
I notice that you've been playing PES08, so just to clarify, it is his REAL playing ability that has dropped significantly, but maybe in game he's still quite good as a sub.

Re: Liverpool Thread

er koolaje if that edited comment is a insult to my intellegence then please dont go there. i was talking of real life. maybe you should watch more of him. he scored goals in the championship which is imo physicly a stronger league. and i dont think many would question that. his mindset is enough to trouble defenses did you not see his return to liverpool??? he still scored goals. if he had been made to be the main striker at the time then i think he would have scored more. and the only reason that he isnt in the prem now is that he is a fitness liability. i'd rather him in the box than some of the clowns in the prem crouch being one of them!

**does anyone agree with my post on the barry transfer? which i posted just up there**

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'd be happy if Rafa did this...

KEPT Alonso..
( Xabi is 24 yrs old, still to reach his best and has never let us down. )
BOUGHT Robbie Keane with funds from Crouch, Risse deal etc..
( Robbie can play attacking midfield, wide left and up top. )
LEAVE Gareth Barry at the Villa..
( Sorry Gareth, your hearts set on a Reds move but I'm not convinced that the majority of Reds fans think your an improvement to our squad. )

Wishful thinking maybe?

Re: Liverpool Thread

but like i said earlier i cant help but think barry is what gerrard wants rather than rafa. everytime barry played against the top4 last season he went missing and i dont think that would be different if he signed for one of the top four (us) do you? i wouldnt mind robbie keane...premiership proven. scores and makes goals. Alonso needs to stay!!!! im callin a S-O-A!!!

Re: Liverpool Thread

I'm 99% certain Rafa doesn't give a shit about Gerrard's friends, Rafa isn't the type of manager to make friends.

Also, Gerrard also went missing everytime we played the top teams as well.

I trust Rafa, if he thinks Barry can bring something better to the team than Alonso can offer, I'm happy with that.

Re: Liverpool Thread

nah i still rekon gerrard has had a huge part in this deal. but the one thing im glad about is that rafa isnt being pushed into this stupid 18mil deal. gerrard pretty much goes missing against the top3 every season but its something we have to live with. i just dont think another player in a key part of the team who goes missing on key matches is something 18mil or just generally a transfer, warrents. theres soooo many players liverpool should be looking at. i'd prefer kim kallstrom to barry and i bet you he would be ALOT cheaper. or even Kranjcar...he would be a good signing.
